Replacing hoses can feel complicated and overwhelming for new scuba divers. There are plenty of hoses and adapters on the market and each has its own specific uses, safety considerations, and compatibility.

Low-pressure hoses and high-pressure hoses have different uses entirely. Fortunately, their ports are different sizes to prevent newbie divers from accidentally using the wrong type of hose.

Keep a Few Hoses and Adapters on Hand

As you build your kit of scuba diving equipment, we recommend picking up a few extra replacement hoses and adapters for your regulator, BCD, and other equipment. That way, if you experience a fatigued or failing component, you can replace it without missing out on time in the water.

High Pressure Hoses

Divers generally use a high-pressure hose for a regulator’s first stage. You can buy high-pressure hoses in a variety of lengths from under 10 inches to 3 feet or longer.

High-pressure hoses are made of either rubber or braided nylon fiber with Kevlar. Rubber is the more traditional material but it can be damaged more easily and is more cumbersome to pack. Many divers prefer modern braided hoses for their simplicity and strength.

It’s important to avoid over tightening your hoses or you may risk damaging them. Hand tightening is the best option.

Low Pressure Hoses

Stock up on replacement low-pressure hoses for BCD and dry suit inflators, as well as for second stage regulators. Low-pressure hoses don’t need to be quite as robust, which is why they’re often made of braided nylon.

Select from a variety of colors for easy color coding and identification. With available lengths ranging from 6 inches to multiple feet, it's easy to find the exact length you prefer for each application.

Adapters, Splitters, Plugs, and Inflators

To ensure their scuba diving kit operates exactly how it should, many divers like to carry extra commonly needed adapters. These may include 3/8” to 7/16” for vintage regulators, standard regulator to QD hose, and 90-degree adapters.

Solid brass, chromed brass, and black chromed brass adapters are durable and corrosion resistant, allowing you to get years of use out of your gear.
