CHRIS N : Why are these flex hoses typically half the price of “Miflex” hoses? Are they cheaper materials? Do they last as long?Mario C : Hi Chris, great question. to limitations of my understanding they are very similar. For about 10 years now have had Miflex - since flex hoses began to be available, believe they were the originals.. do have some generic flex hoses too, and now don't know which one is which. Have replaced a miflex carbon HP on a recall ( thankyou XS scuba for letting us know) and have replaced a flex hose ( not sure if it was miflex) as it was starting to fray near the crimp. i really like them... my brain too wants the more expensive,, but sometimes my pocket or availability will talk louder.. YU S : How thick is the hose? It absolutely looks like the diameter is smaller than those of standard rubber hoses, but wanted to compare with MiFlex HP hoses.C DANIEL R : I don't have calipers, but eyeballed the diameter at 5/16in, 2/16in less than my rubber hoses.WILLIAM J : The hose OD is 7.7mm or just under 5/16in. I had to get a spacer to take up the gap where the hose enters the pressure gauge housing. The hose is light weight and very flexible for traveling. Have not had any issues with it

There is a barrel insert that goes between the hose and the SPG- that is what enables it to swivel. It’ll come with either the hose or the SPG (I think the SPG, don’t remember specifically).William L : Yes. The gauge swivel is "created" by the "spool", which is basically a hollow, polished steel dowel, about 3/4" long with an O ring on each end. I had to use pliers to pull mine out of the house end which damaged the spool so just order a new one with the hose (it should come with the hose but it doesn't). Use a minimal amount of SILICONE GREASE (NOT PETROLEUM) on the spool for assembly. Good luck.BRUCE B : The hose is fixed on the 1st stage. It swivels on the SPG end. Nice hose. Another fine hose you've gotten us into, Oliie!

My g/f didn't notice it in any way on our dives - it was replacing one that was too long, so obviously the length was great - "As Advertised". Quality swedges and fittings, the hosecover looks like it'll last as long as the rest of our gear.

Great hose!

Picked up this hose to replace the rubber high pressure hose that came with my reg set. Fit great and is more flexible than the old rubber one. Highly recommend as a good piece of kit.

Flexible and seemingly durable feeling

Connected right up, and does appear to be more flexible than the standard hose design. I wasn't expecting the courser covering and was rather expecting the softer rubber outer cover on the hose that I had seen in other places. However is appears to be flexible and what I ordered.

Good for spg, bad for wireless transmitter

Great for spg if you want a small hose, has swivel. Not so good for wireless air integration module if that’s what you’re trying to do

Needs end protectors

Good hose but does not come with the HP spool. Also the hose needs a end protector on the gauge end, as there is too much play between the hose and the console, fatigue may be an issue.Purchased suunto hoses as they have end protectors to remove the play

rhino double braided high pressure gauge hose black 32Âàõ

Very nice HP hose, super flexible and easily half the diameter of conventional hoses. Quality braiding and fittings and worked perfectly, no leaks, concerns or issues. I have given the product Four stars, as yet to assess how well it stands up to regular use. If it is as good as it looks..I am sure I will be giving it Five stars when I have to replace my hoses again.

Leaking hoses

I was disappointed in the Blue Reef high pressure hose. Both hoses that I purchased leaked where the end is crimped on at the gauge. I'm so glad that I tested the hoses before I got in the water. I was informed that it is common because the diameter of the high pressure hose is so small.
