Full-foot-pocket fins are harder to put on and take off but they become a more seamless extension of your body, so you conserve more energy while swimming. If you want to get to the bottom more quickly and efficiently, closed-foot fins are the best option. 

Freediving Fins with Channels and Ribs

The surface of your freediving fins makes a big difference for speed, power, and energy conservation. Small channels located at strategic points along the fin propel water along the length of the fin so you get more power with each kick.
