Popular Spearfishing Bands
Your choice of band will depend on whether you’re using a speargun or a pole spear.
For spearguns, the band provides the right amount of tension to fire your spear as far as you need to. Some spear guns use more than one band for greater tension and firing power.
Pole spears use bands to give you extra power while fishing. With a traditional pole spear, the band attaches to the spear itself, while the band in a Hawaiian Sling is more of a bow-and-arrow-style setup with a separate launching component called a shooter.
Metal Wishbone Bands
Metal wishbone bands combine a U-shaped rubber or latex piece with a V-shaped metal connector. They attach easily to notched spear shafts, and they’re known for strength and durability thanks to their stainless steel components.
Corded Wishbone Bands
Many spearfishers prefer corded wishbones because they show clear signs of fraying when they’re close to failure. Corded wishbones feature a U-shaped band and a short, corded connector piece that you can replace as needed. They work best with shafts that have pins or fins rather than notches.
Pole Spear Bands
Bands for pole spears are similar in style to wishbone bands but are generally much longer. With durable models in a variety of sizes, you can easily find the perfect band for your preferred pole spear.
