Yesterday we wrote a post in regard to all the wonderful forms of marine life there are within the dense fronds of the kelp forests, which are found in several places across the globe. However, a site that should not be overlooked if you want to dive kelp forests is California’s Channel Islands. Comprised of 8 islands in total, the Channel Islands are located along the southern coast of California, along the Santa Barbara Channel. A national park has been made of 5 of those islands, and within them is a marine adventure you’ll not soon forget.

The Channel Islands are one of the world’s richest areas of biodiversity, both terrestrial and marine. There are a great number of flora and fauna that are endemic to this region, making these islands one of the premiere dive sites in North America. Liveaboards are a popular option here, to enable you to explore as much of the archipelago as is possible on one trip. Within these magnificent kelp forests lies a world so foreign to any other marine environment, it may be hard for you to surface when it’s time. There’s no way we can really explain it, except by showing you this video. Sit back, enjoy, and start planning your dive trip to the Channel Islands!
