Your buddy will love it

This Octo is great! Before I had this I could never get my buddies to want to share air even when they were low or even out of air! Constantly surfacing despite me being just an arms length away! Never wanted to use my non name brand octo. But now I can't keep my buddies off this thing! Even other people's buddies are trying to use this, so much so I had to buy an extra tank! This is great! So much more popular now but have much shorter dives with all this buddy love. High quality piece!

A necessary piece of kit

The octopus is a necessary piece of kit. Since you have to get one the R195 seems to be the way to go. I know it's backup but you want the easy breathing in an emergency. I have never had my primary regulator fail but i do use this every couple dives to keep everything working great.

Scuba Pro Octopus

Very good product as an initial purchase. As I get more experience I will eventually upgrade, but excellent product for basic diver.

A good pair for Scubapro reg's

I can't say I have used the octo much in terms of breathing from it. It seems to breathe easily. For me it seems a little bulky. It tended the free flow upon water entry the first two times I entered the water with a back roll entry. Overall it seems to be a decent product.

ScubaPro R195 Octo Review - Scuba Gear Reviews

Was looking for a secure transport case for 2 dive consoles. This a about 1" too narrow and 1" to talk to fit. Am using it for save a dive tool kit. Will be fine for that.

Good value and supposed to be reliable. Even though I had terrible malfunction with the R 395 and R 295! Both bought at leisure pro...Scubapro never responded my emails!!

The R195 Octopus is a new design based on the heritage of the classic R190 second stage, re-engineered with modern features and materials. The R195 combines a classic downstream valve with a large diaphragm and classic purge button. It's simple and robust construction with a Techno-Polymer Valve Housing offers the utmost in reliability and makes the R195 the ideal second stage for new divers and a perfect choice for deco tanks thanks to its reversible hose attachment. Classic downstream valves are particularly noted for their legendary safety and reliability. When in use, the downstream valve opens in the same direction as the incoming airflow. To close the valve and stop the airflow, a spring counteracts the force of the incoming air. Therefore, a certain inhalation effort is always required to overcome the spring tension and open the valve.

The classic downstream valve is featured in the Scubapro R-Series; here "R" is synonymous with robust and reliable. The R195 Second Stage has Scubapro's VIVA-patented system. The VIVA uses the power of a vacuum assist to reduce work of breathing and increase breathing comfort. It is diver-adjustable on all current Scubapro second stages. The R195 Octopus Regulator weighs 7.0 oz. (198g) and comes with a 3/8" threaded 39" (100cm) high-visibility yellow low-pressure hose and a high visibility yellow cover for easy identification and sharing.
