I have tried a few dives and get used to these alternative option to avoid an extra hose as octopus ( secondary air supply) Very uncomfortable option and in my opinion, dangerous in an emergency situation On top of that, this Air 2 system is very bulky and "annoying" while diving? if you decide to use it, I recommend to use a longer second stage primary source hose to have a "sharing air situation " more comfortable..or just keep your traditional alternative second stage air in place ( yellow hose) I went back to the traditional configuration and use the standard Hydros BCD inflator, for me much better ! I do not recommend these systems at all .

Very convenient, breathes well enough for a backup and not oversized like some inflator / regulator combos can be. My only complaint about this is more of a Scubapro complaint in that they use a non-standard size connector. If you already have Scubapro gear and hoses/connectors, this won't be an issue for you. It becomes an annoyance when you want to swap gear or attach accessories. For example if you want to buy a DiveAlert, you have to buy one that will fit a Scubapro connector (DV2 I believe). Which then can't be connected to a non-Scubapro sized hose (if you want to lend to a friend, or take your DiveAlert on vacation where you'll be renting gear, etc).

Love the concept, but most will give you headaches after 1-2 years of usage and about 100-300 dives. Obviously, all these numbers depend on the maintenance and care you dedicate to your gear. I take very good care of my gear. Some of my first stage, regulators, BCD and fins last up to 10 years. Another problem with this integrated hose is the fact that you open it, you see exactly what you need to change, but no dealer will sell you only that part. In most cases, you will hear that it has been discontinued and now there is a new model. Business First right?

I love that this cleans up my gear by eliminating a hose! Works great and breaths just like other regulators. Might be a good idea to order a backup hose - it comes with one but it's a different size than most. I was on a trip and had a hard time finding one that fit when I forgot mine.

It's every bit as good an inflator as the nonbreathable one... and it's an okay regulator if you need it. That's the point, though... except in an emergency, this is just an inflator. Can it fail? Yes... but it's less likely to fail than the octopus and inflator setup that others have. Is it fun to breathe from? I wouldn't want to dive on it exclusively, but again... it's for emergencies. Will a panic'd buddy take your reg from your mouth? In most cases, yes (even if you've got a yellow octo). So, practice putting this in your mouth while somebody is trying to drown you.

I sold mine and returned to the standard octopus. These hybrid Octo/Inflators look fancy hanging from your BCD but are not practical. They are cumbersome, uncomfortable, and difficult to use in high stress diving situation. Though It is a solid well made Scubapro product I don't recommend the use of any of these devices.

works great, nice design. Easy to use oral inflate. I like the flow control so it doesn't free flow.

I purchased the scubapro Air 2 as a secondary for my scuba diving system. I'm extremely happy with the mouthpiece and the fact that it has a built-in power inflator, however I went back to using a standard octopus in the case of an out of air emergency. I think this unit would be fine for the individual wearing the BCD but I feel that the length of an octopus would be better for a diver in distress. This is a great option if you are looking to eliminate a hose with an octopus. It works well and is very high quality.

Use it for Pindito trip (10 days of diving, 4 dives/per day), Roatan, Honduras (5 days, 3 dives per day), Cozumel (5 days, 3 dives per day), Bonaire (5 days, 5 dives per day). Very good. No free flow.

Would have been better, Lousy mouthpiece means you might drown trying to keep it in your mouth in case of emergency.

This is the second Air 2 I have purchased to upgrade my ScubaPro BCD to eliminate the clutter an extra hose and regulator adds. I have practiced buddy breathing with the Air 2 and found it to be easy. Remember with an Air 2 you give the other diver your primary regulator and you switch to the air to as your primary when buddy breathing. In this case , I added the Air 2 to a ScubaPro lite Travel BCD so it fits my objective of traveling light and using my own gear, even on business trips when I can stay over a weekend to go diving. On my main back inflatable ScubaPro BCD, it enables me to carry a camera and other gear without having to worry about fast and clear access to a standard Octo regulator. I recommend the Air 2.

Product preforms great. Still need to get used to the alt air on the BC hose and work with my dive partner (wife) on the location in an emergency situtation. Be sure to review with any dive partner your alt air location and the procedure to follow if needed

Reading the reviews on here complaining about it being uncomfortable to use is simply fixed by extending your corrugated hose and pull dump wire/string (if using a pull dump). The Inflator hose may also need extending and this is simply done by using a quick connect/disconnect adapter brought on fleabay on a normal reg hose to suit. I personally use a BP with a venture wing and a 22" 55.9cm corrugated hose brought from divegearexpress. The reg hangs about 3-4" below the end of my shoulder strap and is in the perfect position for easy access and with this mod allows for plenty of head movement and beats the chocking feeling and visual impairment of a necklace! Rated to 50M single and 30M if your buddy's on your primary at the same time. Enjoy!

Worked very good. The inflator is very responsive. The secondary breather was easier to breath on than I thought it would be. Good quality product

I was looking forward to eliminating my octopus. When attached to my BCD the low pressure hose has to be directed to the opposite side of where the retainer clips on my BCD are located. I'm sure this is one of the reasons it does not sit comfortably in the mouth. I have to use a hand to support it. As long as I remember this is an emergency backup I think I will become accustomed to having it there even though it's quite heavy and in the way. If it were a primary I would be extremely unhappy, but I think I can work with this.

I was looking forward to eliminating the octopus and combining my inflator with my backup air supply. It seems to work, but doesn't sit comfortably in the mouth with my BCD. The low pressure airline attaches to the unit on the opposite side that my BCD has clips to hold it. That makes it more challenging to bend toward the mouth. It is also quite heavy which seems unnecessary given the weight of octopi I have used previously. I'm trying to accept it as an emergency go to. If I had to think of this as a primary I would be very disappointed.

I use it as a back up to my regulator. It's easy to find and has been reliable. It was easy to install. I bought an additional one for my son's gear.

I eliminated one hose by installing it, you know where it is if you need it. The only con is restrict your head movement while in use.

If you are tired of having that extra regulator dangling from your side, eliminate it by installing an Air2 Regulaor/Power Inflator. I have equipped everyone in my family with a Scubapro Air2 installed on a Scubapro BC.

New design by Scubapro hits it again!
By ROYSTON N.
The scubapro inflator has been completely redesigned by Scubapro and it looks better then ever. The buttons are bigger and easy to use although it looks kinda almost like the Atomic SS1, but without the heavy pricetag. It is great to upgrade your inflator or for people who don't want to carry octopus.
Great breather & less clutter!
By D1
I've had my Air 2 for a year now and have used it in cold water with a drysuit and in warm water with flawless performance. On my first dive with it I took it down to 70 ft and used it as a primary for a while, great breather. Could barely tell the difference between it and my Atomic primary; and one less hose is a huge bonus.
When you took dive lessons you learned to perform specific skills to make you safe and comfortable underwater and at the surface. One of those skills was buoyancy control. Once you start diving for fun you use your buoyancy control device constantly throughout the dive. Your octopus or alternate air source device on the other hand is never used unless there is an emergency out of air situation. Reacting properly in an out of air situation can make the difference between a safe dive and a tragedy. If your alternate air source and your BCD inflator device are one and the same, you will always know where to find it in an emergency.
The 5th generation of the Air 2 by Scubapro is a second stage regulator and balanced inflator in a single, compact housing. The Air 2 - 5th Generation builds upon an already superior product. It is lightweight, streamline, and eliminates the need for a backup-regulator. The Air 2's air-balanced power inflator valve means you'll have a steady stream of air, regardless of the pressure in your tank. The Air 2 - 5th Generation leaves you breathing- easy throughout your dives. The Air 2 has a fixed Venturi Initiated Vacuum Assist (VIVA) Flow Vane for safe and uncomplicated use now has a dive/pre-dive switch. This switch allows the regulator mechanism to be set more like that of a standard second stage regulator. The Air 2 - 5th Generation breathes like a dream, rivaling some primary second stage models. It is CE-certified for waters 50-degree F (10-degree C) or warmer.
The Air 2 provides one-hand operation for instinctive and simple operation the self-flushing mechanism requires just one push-on-the-purge to clear away all dirt or to purge water. The regulator mechanism is a simple, yet reliable classic downstream demand valve. Air 2 is equipped with a larger hi-comfort ergonomic mouthpiece; soft second-stage cover and one-button purge function. The Regulator's pre-tuned system is housed in a precision molded carbon fiber and techno-polymer case for strength and durability. The demand valve is chrome plated brass with a stainless-steel spring and a silicone rubber diaphragm and exhaust valve. The Air 2 comes with a 3/8" threaded 27.56" (70 cm) and a high-flow low-pressure hose.
