Questions & Answers

Jacquelyn M : Is this an open box dive computer or one that has been used before?Miguel L : No, this new and never been use.
Shopper : Is the titanium band adjustable for no wetsuit during day and over wetsuit on night dive? Or do links have to be removed? Also, there are conflicting answers here about whether the titanium band comes with a silicon band as well. Which is it?  Thanks.darrick c : Hello, the titanium, you would need to remove/add link to adjust the sizing on the titanium. If you get the titanium the silicone strap is also included at least when you buy this from Scuba.Com. Not sure what other stores offer in this model.
Shopper : Does the T1 transmitter work with the MK3i?darrick c : Descent™ dive watches such as the Descent™ Mk2i, Descent™ Mk3i - 43 mm, and Descent™ Mk3i - 51 mm watches have the ability to pair to Descent™ transmitters which use SubWave™ underwater communication network technology to report air tank pressure and diver depth during a dive. Descent™ T2 transmitters use updated technology that allows you to send and receive preset messages underwater using your paired Descent Mk3i watch. You can use either a Descent™ T1 or Descent™ T2 transmitter with any watch with air integration, but some features may be limited by the combination of watch and transmitter that you have, and your watch or transmitter may need a software update before they can function together. Check the table below for device and software compatibility.Sean R : Yes, it does. The messaging feature will not work with the T1, but it functions perfectly well for measuring PSI remaining.
Shopper : I previously asked if the titanium band version also includes a silicone band and was told that it does not.  However, on the Garmin website, they say that it does.  Which is it?darrick c : Hello, yes, the Titanium Band version also comes with the silicone band.
Shopper : Does the Titanium band version also include the silicone band?Charlie K : The Mk3i with the Titanium band does come with the silicone band.darrick c : Hello, no, it does not come with the silicone band.

Easy to learn

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to customize my Garmin Mk3i. The Dive Master (Dan) at First Coast Divers here in Jacksonville Fl, is very knowledgeable and provided perfect instructions on how to use.

great everyday watch that you can use for divin a

Got the Descent MK3i 51mm as a replacement for my FR945 as it was showing it's age. Note, I didn't get the transmitter, so can't comment about the integration. As an everyday watch, it's great. I really like the new features such as dive & training readiness from the glances. As a dive watch, I am still getting used to it, and I will be comparing it to the larger Shearwater models (Peregrin & Perdix). I also dive normally in cold water, with drygloves and lose a good amount of dexterity. Screen is great & bright. The large number model is a really nice feature. I really like the pool move feature as well. The customization of fields is nice. Battery life is great as well. With the drygloves, I do find the larger buttons on the perdix / peregrin easier to trigger, but I suspect it will take time to get used to. I do love how since it's paired with my phone, I don't need to manually sync my dives.

This watch is everything I need

I had an Epix for a few years and loved it. Also a diver so had a separate lower level dive computer to take on trips. Super excited to have a great dive computer in the same package of an otherwise amazing Garmin watch.

Worth The Upgrade

Upgraded from the Mk2i, which I felt was a solid performing dive/adventure watch. The Mk3i takes it to another level, most notably the AMOLED display. Several dives on this watch have proven it to be as solid, if not slightly more so, as the Mk2i.

Best everyday dive computer and watch

I've had the Apple Watch, the Garmin Descent mk1 and other speciality watches. Got the mk3 prior to a cruise and dive trip and this by far the best everyday device and dive comp combination ever. I've also used it for golf and workouts and at work. Very flexible and customizable. The best thing is the battery life. It's been days since I charged it and still have days left. Took it to Bonaire and it had me ahead of everything on the dive. Best watch I've ever had. Ever going to the Apple Watch again.

Love diving and living with my Mk3i

I previously owned a 51mm Epix Pro Gen 2 sapphire and loved it. I do karate, swimming, walking, and other outdoor activities. I was a previous Apple Watch Ultra user but made the switch and never went back. I got my OW certification and found out the Epix is not dive-certified so I sold it, pretty much for what I paid for it, and got the Mk3i. It's amazing!!! I have the air integration which is nice, the dive maps show me where I enter and exit, and all the underwater stats have replaced a paper log. I am glad I made this purchase and my other watch pretty much paid for half of this one.

Lack of Firections

Upon receiving the watch and looking at the enclosed instruction books, I'm glad we had an electron microscope to read the fine print. I did find many videos of eventually that are YouTube videos that you have to go on the web to get in order to try to understand what the Watch can and can't do?..!!!! It's a great watch but again it's overwhelming to try to figure all of it out upon yourself. I would suggest that Garmin set up three levels of training for the watch with videos. One level is the beginning level. The second level is intermediate and getting around and moving and adding apps and other instructions, and the third level would be advance level, which could be used in depth directions, and analysis of the operates

An amazing dive computer and daily wearable

I had the original Apple Watch and quickly returned it as I felt it was very half-baked and unnecessary. Wow has a lot changed. I love the Descent Mk3i, I enjoy all the health metrics and usefulness out of the water, but it really shines when diving. I had a Shearwater Perdix around 8 years ago and the Garmin does everything I used the Perdix for and then some. I'm very pleased with the watch and highly recommend it.

Initial Thought, WOW

Bought the 3i as my primary computer and moved my 2i to second computer status. Screen, battery life and light in the 53 mm are fantastic. Won't be able to evaluate the dive computer function fully until June in the South Pacific. Golf and all my other activity functions are still great.

Good all around excep

I bought my first mk3i and it stopped working. They were very good in replacing it quickly. It often will not read my tank pressure then it will. I give it a solid good but not great

Could be better.

I bought this watch for the dive computer and functions. It is also a smart watch. GPS could be better and have a stronger signal. Maps take a while to update to current location. Watch is loaded with sports features, but they all have the same data. All these sports and the only features they have are timers, heart rate, it's all the same, over and over. Watch needs more layout, more clock appearances, more color choices. Flashlight is bright and gets the job done. Tac light was a very good choice. Only complaints are the GPS positioning takes too long to update and all the different sports have the same features and data.

Great, needs software updates to be perfect.

???? The Garmin Mk3i watch is almost perfect for my active lifestyle. Whether I'm pounding the pavement on a run, gliding through the water in my kayak, or exploring the depths while scuba diving, this watch has me covered. One of the standout benefits of Garmin ecosystem for me is how seamlessly the Garmin Connect software integrates all my activities, making it easy to track and analyze my performance. The training programs available are a bonus, helping me stay on top of my fitness goals. The built-in flashlight was a nice surprise. It was an unexpected addition that's proven to be useful on many occasions. When I'm diving in the ocean, the in-reach communication feature provides invaluable peace of mind. However, it's important to note that in-reach communication requires a separate device and subscription. The GPS, compass, and maps functionalities are spot-on, enhancing my outdoor adventures. And I must mention, the new bright screen is a great improvement, ensuring visibility even in bright sunlight. However, the data screens for diving have limited customization. If you want to see your gas pressure, there is basically one data field that can be changed on that screen. Hopefully, this will be fixed through software updates in the future. Despite this minor hiccup, the watch excels in all other areas. Overall, the Garmin Mk3i is a great companion for any activity, with just a few tweaks to Scuba Diving screens needed to reach perfection.

Keeps Getting Better!

I started out years ago to buy a smart waterproof smartwatch. No one had a watch that had sustained battery power or reserves. Settled on the fenix series. It was great, but lacking in a few features I would like to have. Then the MK series came out - wow, excellent replacement for my fenix. The MK 2i was my travel/outdoors and health buddy. Always wished for an amoled display that the iWatches had but I was not a 1 day battery life. Then the MK 3i was unveiled - with all my hopes and dreams in a computer dive/smartwatch. I am in heaven. Garmin is always on the cutting edge of delivering what we are looking for. An excellent addition to the MK series. Way to go!!!!

Amazing Watch

I LOVE this watch. Have had a Fenix 5 for many years, but as I do like to dive, have been waiting for the new version of the dive watch to upgrade. This thing is a beast! All the amazing features of the Fenix/Epix series I've been wanting in an upgrade, but add on completely insane diving capability as well. Only 7 dives so far with the new watch and T2 transmitter, but works flawless! So glad I waited for this one!

Great BUT....

Cons 1 My PSI is just as important as my depth. The PSI font size is HORRIBLE. Large font is just bold basically. I do not wear or need glasses either. The person that designed the PSI font size and PSI display location only used this in a pool or the Carribian Islands. Never in limited/low visibility waters. 2 Propriatary charging cable works great but super inconvenient. How about wireless charging its 2024. 3 The Tank transceivers noise is like a dripping faucet in the middle of the night. PROS The person that engineered the battery life should get a raise. Watch band replacement A+ OLED Display A+ Garmin Dive App A+ Garmin Connect App A+ 51mmA+ Button Quality & Ease of use A+ Overall quality of build A+

Awesome Watch

I've owned the Garmin 5x, 6x, 945 LTE and Epix Gen2. I run, hike, downhill ski, cycle and now with my MK3i I dive with my watch plus all these other things. I've used this on 10 dives so far and love it with the air integration. Wearing it all day and night allows my watch to track my dive readiness, sleep, body battery and tissue gas levels during my surface interval. Love this watch. Btw I have worn my Apple Ultra diving and it just doesn't compare.

Garmin MK3i is a winner

I purchased the Garmin Mk3i in January for a dive trip on Maui. As a dive watch it worked flawlessly. It was one less thing not having to worry about. I didn't use the air integration yet. I have used Garmin pay and it works perfectly. I have used many of the other apps and they work well. I have yet to use many of the other features but I'm anticipating worrying free use. There is a steep learning curve to master all of the features of this watch and there are plenty of great tutorials and support if needed.

Great watch and features

This is an excellent watch and well worth the investment. The only thing I wish it had was a speaker/microphone so I could accept and make calls. However, I can understand why it doesn't.

Great Watch and Dive Computer.

I am a scuba instructor so the biggest feature I need is obviously the dive computer. I teach diving to 330' with rebreathers and helium. That being said I need to put my life on the line and the Garmin is my safety net. It has not do disappointed! The screen is perfect. The battery life is long so it doesn't need constant recharging. And the apps bring it all together. I want to figure out how to keep the watch screen on all the time, maybe dimmed but visible. That's probably me though and an instruction book. I would also like to lock the right side buttons so the watch doesn't trip over to an app by accident. I can't express how much I love the Descent series of watches/dive computers. I have upgraded from each one and they simply get better and better.

Even better than the Mk2i

I've taken my first trip with the new Mk3i and love it. I dove the Mk31 and Mk2i side by side, and the Mk3i is even easier to read. There was no noticeable difference in the two computer's dive management algorithms for the dive, so that awesome. The T1 and T2 transmitters were within 3 psi of each other from start to finish, so that too is awesome. That said, the Mk3i's T2 transmitter does emit a rather high pitch pulse every 10-12 seconds which isn't great, but whatever (as long as it doesn't scare-off the fish). I was able to pair with my buddy's new Mk3i/T2 setup for air monitoring and texting, and it works as expected. I really hope Garmin soon allows us to to make-up some of our own text messages/responses (using Connect I'm guessing) because the current stock messages are rather bland and boring. I did need to rethink the altimeter settings since the computer said I was at -65.4 feet when I was sitting in the boat (see the picture), but once I switched to having it use GPS for altimeter all was well. All in all I'm super happy with the computer and I know my son is going to love getting my current Mk2i as a gift.. :)

My 3rd and best Garmin Descent the Mk3i

By Raul i.

Between my first Garmin Descent and the Mk2i if have 637 dives; an excellent dive computer love the compass function and the air integration. So far I am very impress with my new Mk3i; I Had both T1 and T2 transmitters successfully program. Daily morning assessment is also a welcome addition, looking forward to fully take advantage of this function. The dive app dive sites maps have improved greatly on local dive sites identification.

Discover a deeper connection with the Descent Mk3i watch-style dive computer. It features multiple dive modes plus SubWave sonar technology for diver-to-diver communication via preset messages (available with software v.15.70 or later). The device also supports monitoring of tank pressures and depth for up to eight networked divers, when paired with the Descent T2 transceiver (sold separately). Purpose-built specifically for divers, the Descent Mk3i dive computer combines a bright 1.2" AMOLED display with scratch-resistant sapphire lens, 200-meter dive-rated case and metal leakproof inductive buttons. DiveView maps offer bathymetric depth contours and more than 4,000 dive sites to help you find where to dive and get oriented. Plus, a dive readiness tool, developed by Garmin, shows how lifestyle factors such as sleep, exercise, stress and jet lag can affect your body's overall preparedness for diving - so, ultimately, you can make better-informed dive plan decisions (data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked).

This dive computer is designed to help maximize your preparation for the physical and mental challenges of diving. You can also reference ABC sensors with a 3-axis underwater compass as well as surface GPS capabilities to mark your entry and exit points. When you're ashore, built-in sports apps help you stay on top of your fitness, while Garmin Pay contactless payments, music storage and smart notifications keep you connected (compatible smartphone required).
