Used Mares i3 Mask All Black

I love this mask so much I purchased two. I have been using the mask for many years now and have not found one to compare favorably to it.

I really like the i3- it's the only mask I've found that fits my face just about perfectly. The little side windows give you a kind of refracted view so you can see a bit behind you- kind of like a blind spot mirror in your car. Since it fits me great, I've had some version of this mask for over 20 years; and the older ones have all started leaking from around the lens. One just leaked from the time it was new- got it replaced on warranty. Another had the plastic retainer start to come loose from the mask, allowing a little leak to start. Overall, I'm super positive on the fit and function of the i3, but a little disappointed in the quality.

I love this mask. I have the old LiquidSkin model (now discontinued), and I love it so much that I bought a new one to keep as a backup. Honestly, I can hardly tell the difference between the LiquidSkin and the non-LiquidSkin models. The buckles on the new model seem a little bit cheaply made, but not so much that they ruin the whole mask.The real strength of this mask has always been its spectacularly wide field of view. Unlike many 3-window masks, the joints where the windows meet don't create wide lines that obstruct your view. From inside, the view is like a single, wrap-around lens. It's awesome!I've tried many more expensive masks by ScubaPro and Atomic, etc., but this little underdog from Mares is still my favorite.

My new favourite mask...Very low volume mask with wide range of vision. single lens mask with the volume of a two lens mask. For travellers the mask packs very small with compact hard case.

Was in the shop and bought the Mares I3 liquidskin about 2 weeks ago. When I got home I noticed the right strap buckle not working as it should. Replaced the mask two days later. No problem with the new mask in the shop but after two dives the same problem with the right buckle showed up again. The right side buckle does not lock the strap. This seems to be a common fault with this mask and the non liquidskin version. Do not buy this product.

Mask is very comfortable , very good vision angle but clip fails more than once , also I see a few other reviews with same problem

had a faulty strap clip and had to send it back. strap clips seem cheaply made.

It is alittle to soon to give a full reveiw. I put the mask on and got in the water for literally 30sec when I adjusted the strap and the strap clip broke. The short time I did wear it I had a great field of view and it felt snug on my face. I sent it back for a relacement and will finish this reveiw when I get the new mask and have more time to evaluate.

Just used the mask on my recent trip to Cozumel (May 2012) and it has a great view angle and also fits very well, no leaks at all. I also have a Mares Liquid Skin (2 windows) and overall this one fits better. It fogged on my last dive, though, but I think it was because I did not scrub it properly. Being black is also good, it seems easier to clean.

Good range of vision, fits well, and is comfortable, however, I cannot get it to stop fogging up. Tried my usual toothpaste remedy three times, but to no avail. Will try Sea Gold next. Deducted one flag for the fogging.

Great Mask. I used it before I treated lens with toothpaste and did not fog one bit. Construction is high quality and fit and comfort is superb.
