The old grey mare; she ain't what she used to be

I have been using the Xtra Edge for many years. This rendition is similar to, but not identical to previous ones. The carabiner keyring is much smaller than before, the screw clasp is much flimsier, and is nickel-plated rather than vinyl-coated. The handle and sheath material has a noticeable different 'feel' to it. I have not yet had an opportunity to see hoe the blade holds its edge.

The blade is unobtrusively stored in a twist-loc sheath. If you liked the Xtra Edge for the past 30 years, you're going to love what Tekna has done to it! First, the blade: Now made of 420HC stainless steel, it provides increased toughness and better edge holding with this 21st century steel, proven in millions of premium blades. Blade length 1.4" (3.56cm). Next, the sheath/handle: Now made with Teknalon CFTRP, Tekna's propriety fiber and titanium reinforced engineering polymer, these parts also provide enhanced toughness and strength over the original. And Tekna added color choices, isn't modern technology wonderful? Hang one on your PFD, Molle harness, or BC for watersports or tactical use to keep an extra edge handy. Overall length 3.5" (8.9cm).
