Questions & Answers

jesus a : does someone know if this jacket is euro small or is asia smalll??? im about 5.11 and 150 pounds , pants size 30 , should i buy it small or not.???MICHAEL K : They run small. My wife and I ordered the next size up from our normal USA sizes and that's fine.OSCAR L : Almost all Ok, But I don't like that it doesn't have a hard holder. I have it because I bought it by internet.MATT H : Hello it is a euro s Asia m. My wife uses it she is 5'8" 150 and I have used it I'm 6' 170ROBERT Q : No. Your size is med. Small fits my wife. Who is 5' . 115 lb JUNE H : I recommend size M for you. Size S will be too small.
Shopper : how old is this product, and what is the weight?Steve S : It has been out a few years, but it is brand new. It weighs 9.5 - 10 pounds depending on the size you get.ROLLIN E : We got one for my daughter back in 2010, so it is at least 4 years old. The one we have is a Euro M (Asian Large)-it goes at 8 lbs., using our luggage scale. The problems we have had with it are the BC's "quick release" can be tough to use, so I would suggest also using a weight belt in addition to what is loaded in the BC. The tank strap can be tough to get adjusted correctly and to get a tight fit on a tank-we have had tanks fall out when the belt is a bit loose.MICHAEL L : It is pretty heavy. Much heavier than I anticipated. TUSA's website probably has the specs. I returned it due to the weight. It is well built though. I went with a scuba pro wing to save on weight. MICHELLE W : I bought it 5 years ago and it is over 10 lbs (dry)
niba k : What are the differences between this BCD (The Platina Evolution) and the Liberator Sigma? In addition, which would you recommend? Thanks.LAURIE N : If you are looking for a basic BCD that will take a heavy beating and still work then the liberator sigma is good for you. I'm not sure what the aspects of the patina evolution are but I have been diving the liberator for 3 years and used it for both my research dives and now as an instructor. The only thing I want is one more D ring on my left shoulder, but I tend to carry a lot of extra stuff when I teach.RONALD M : I have been using my Tusa Liberator Sigma BCD for the last two years of diving and think it's the best one I've ever used. Replaced an old SeaQuest model without the Integrated Weight System. I used to come home from a two-tank dive day with an aching back, caused by my padded weight belt. With the weights placed in the back in 2 pockets beside the tanks and the other ones in the front, removable pockets, those days are long gone. Don't even feel the weights when in the water with my Tusa Liberator. It has truly "liberated" me! Haven't seen the Evolution model but it looks to have the same features as the Sigma so I'd say they're probably superior products for the money. You can pay more money for BCD's that are lower quality than the Tusa ones. These BCD's are built heavier than other similar ones but in the water that just gives you more stability and makes the tank on your back seem non-existent. I guess you could guess I'll be diving my Tusa Liberator Sigma BCD for a long time to come.MICHELLE W : I don't know the difference, but I'm very happy with the purchase. It give great lift in the water. The only downside is the weight - it is on the heavier side so I would not recommend as a travelling BCD.
Shopper : is the size of this bc true or does it run small or large?NICK & JANE O : I bought it for my Grandson and seems to fit him well.MICHAEL K : The BCD is very adjustable. I wear large shirts and ordered the XL. It works fine. I recall hearing they run small.MICHAEL L : Size runs trueSteve S : This BC does in fact run quite true to size according to the size chart.OLEG I : I bought size M, but it feels more like L. It's been four years ago though when I bought it, and maybe they have changed their sizing. Also keep in mind that this BCD is pretty heavy even without the integrated weights it is designed for. In my experience, the integrated stuff is fine once you're in the water but pretty difficult to handle when you're above. With all that being said, I am still satisfied with my Tusa BCD. Happy diving, OlegDENNIS S : Hi, I'm actually Mike's dad and we bought two of these BCD's to use for diving on invasive weed. They have gotten some very hard use and besides one of the deflator valves that needed to be replace after it developed a small leak, we have had no problems what so ever. As for the size, I'd say it runs quite true to size. I'm 5'-9" and 200 pounds, my son is close to six feet and 180. We both bought ( I believe it were larges or at least for what the size chart called for and they fit great. I also do some pretty cold water dives and wear a 7 mil suit. I personally love mine and if I need another I'll certainly buy this one again. Hope this helps you out and good diving. I hope you're doing it for fun instead of what I do.ROBERT R : It was true to sizing.kenn p : The size (medium) ran true.DAVID T : I'm 5'6" 185lbs and the medium size Tusa fit well. I am a Southeast Alaska sea cucumber harvest diver that dives primarily in 46 - 38 F temp sea water so I use a 7mm dry suit with 60lbs of belt weight - the bouyancy this bc provides is adequate for my application.BRION S : It is very adjustable. I never thought it was small. I really liked its versatility. I dove it with both a wet and a drysuit without needing to adjust it much. It has been a great BC.B RICHARD J : I purchased the Platina as a gift. However, I have frequently been diving with the recipient. She loves the BCD so therefore I assume that the sizes run true. That is the best answer I can give.FRANCES H : I think it depends on whether you're male or female. I am female, usually wear a medium/large and bought a medium. After adjusting velcro to smallest size it works okay. I'd say for men it's true to size, for women, if you're in between sizes, go with the smaller of the two.JEFFERY H : Runs to size
Shopper : I am thinking of buying in Korea. But it is difficult to determine the SIZE. Height 178cm, weight 95kg, Chest is 105cm, I am 35Inches Waist is in Korean. what size would fit me?BRIDGET A : Try the medium. It should fit. The great thing about buying from LeisurePro is their outstanding return policies. If it doesn't fit you should be able to return it and get the right one.MIYUKI S : The Medium should be a good fit for you.

HEAVY

It's a good quality BCD, but it is HEAVY. Has lots of features and D-rings, but again - HEAVY. Next BCD would be definitely looking more closely at the weight.

great BCD

Excellent BCD all around, good room in the pockets, lots of features to attach your extras, integrated weight system that's easy to manage with lots of room in the weight pockets. I was concerned about the size - I ordered a large and when it came in it was too big, but after adjusting the inner straps - it's perfect!

Excellent choice for a beginner

This is a wonderful BCD to any beginner - reliability, dependability, stability, absolute easiness to control boyancy by someone who has just been certified. This BCD was purchased for my friend immediately after getting Open Water certification and prior going onto his first diving vacation.

300 dives and going strong!

My Tusa Platina has over 300 dives on it and is going strong. I've dived it in warm and cold water using everything from a 3mm to a drysuit it has held up very well, still looks almost new even after being out in the weather for a week at a time on live aboards. The stainless D-rings and pockets are great for adding gear, you can clip off a pony bottle nicely. The pull dump on the inflator hose works great and the weight distribution trims out well. It has a substantial secure feel compared to many rental BCs I have used. I really like this BCD. It is a little bulky and heavy for travel when you are trying to get all your gear on the plane under 50 pounds. The weight pockets can fall out if you do not clip them in correctly. I will not put more than 6 ponds in each pocket. I had to replace the inflator hose once due to some mishap on a boat in Belize, but after so much abuse this seems acceptable. Overall a great BC and you get a ton for the money

Simply put..........a great BC

I've logged 12 dives now with this BC, 5 in California and 7 in the Florida Keys and have to say I love it. The BC is easy to adjust going from wearing a 7mm wetsuit to going in with just my trunks. It fits comfortably and there's a nice about of D-rings to clip stuff. Quality product, definitely full function

Great BC ridiculous price

Order this BC after shopping around and ultimately purchased after a friends recommendation. Despite my friends recommendation i was concerned about the quality and functionality since the price was so cheap. I just returned from my first 4 dives and I have zero complaints. It is easily adjustable to fit with or without a wetsuit, weight pockets are secure and it was comfortable. If you are considering a BC there is no need to spend a bundle, this is about as inexpensive as they come and I challenge you to find a better BC.

Beats rental BCDs!

Good entry level BCD. I got this BCD for my 18 year old son. I have the Tusa Liberator, which I like a lot. Wanted to get him a similar BCD that used the same integrated weight system. Recently dove in Florida with a shorty over a full wet suit. Required 24 lbs of weight. Pockets easily accomodated the weight. There are 2 small back pockets plus the two integrated weight pockets. My son's weights fell out once, but he had failed to fully lock it in. Was a little difficult getting the pocket back in the BCD in 3-6' seas, but we managed ok. Would recommend.

Great BC; heavy-ish, but great!

Great BC. A little on the heavier end like a couple other reviews said, but it makes up for it in all it's little features. Has clips and rings in all the right places, air-dump pull-strings, very secure weight-holding system (so you won't lose your weights), and a carrying/hanging-in-closet handle! I would recommend getting some ID-badge clips like the ones shown in the attached image though, as the inflate/deflate hose will dangle freely otherwise. These badge clips are amazing for holding it against your BC for streamlining, while at the same time NOT limiting its use and function.

Love it.

This is a great BC. I've read a lot about the weight and it doesn't seem to affect me at all. The price from leisure pro was great and I'm in the process of buying from them again.

Secure and comfortable

I love this BC! When it's inflated on the surface, the air blader wraps all the way around me so I'm not listing forward or to the side. The quick release weights are wonderful, as are the smaller weight pockets at the back! Only down side is the pockets are so large that I tend to lose things in there and am always afraid that things will float out if I am digging through them!

Stable BC

I actually haven't used this BC yet in the water. It is going to be a Father's Day present next month. I mostly freedive but on lobster hunting trips if we are in a spot I can't freedive I will throw on a tank. I use a steel 130 tank, which is really heavy. With my old BC that tank would flop around and make it hard to maneuver upside down, etc. I tried the new Tusa Platina BC at home with the steel 130; it feels like I could go jogging with it! It really holds the tank in a stable position. Has lots of D rings, weight integration. It's a little heavy but I don't think that will be noticeable in the water. The stability it affords more than makes up for the weight, so I think it will take less energy to maneuver underwater. A total bargain for the price too.

Tusa Platina Evo BCD

I bought this BCD because it has an intergrated weight system. I LOVED not having a seperate weight belt to worry about Everything about this BCD was great, lots of clips, large pockets for storage (whoops just remembered I left a shell and pebble in one) and easy to adjust for my body shape My husband has the same one and because of the many adjustable parts, each fits us perfectly Great for men and women

Heavy but functional

Good all around BCD. Can be used in both cold and warm water. It is on the heavy side for traveling but I didn't regret bringing it with me. Very comfortable, had good lift, doesn't feel bulky underwater, integrated weights are secured surely but are easy to dump. It is very well made. Overall its a great BCD just a little heavy

Better Options Out There - Too Heavy

Most TUSA things are well designed and this seems to be very durable, but it is way too heavy. The woman's XSmall wieghs 8.3 pounds. It is just too heavy to manage when there are lighter weight options out there, especially with the airline's 50 lb weight limit on bags. We returned it.

Highly recommend...

This is my second BCD and I love it...I bought it one size smaller though. There's nothing negative about it. High quality product...it should last me for long time.

Good general purpose BC

Enough rings to organize the gear. Not too bulky as mentionned in other reviews. I you want pockets larger than average...this is the BC you need. No worse than a scubapro integral jacket. release mechanism is a bit hard to lock. Hope it will ease with time (silicon?) I made some modifications: added small but bright pull cords to the zippers + one grommet on each side to place a retractor inside each pocket.

Bullet Proof

This BCD is totally bullet proof. The whole BCD is made out of top quality nylon. The integrated weight system is better than any I have seen so far. The tank strap secures the tank with little effort. The inflator deflator works flawlessly. It is slightly heavy but I don't think you will mind due to the high quality material that appears that it will deflect bullets.

Tusa BCD

I am very impressed with this BCD. I found it very easy to load weights and get it set up. This is not the first Tusa BCD I have purchased. A good part of my buying decision was based on being a previous Tusa owner.
