Questions & Answers

DENIS F : I just bought a AVID BC and I have had two weight pockets fall out diving a dive. I double checked the snap in connection after loosing the first weight pocket. They dropped out after 30 minutes in the water. Has anyone else had this issue with Sherwood Weight Pocket CQR for the Sherwood Avid BCD ?ROGER P : My wife has a Sherwood Luna BCD, the zipper ripped out on one of her pockets so I purchased a new one. The first 10 lb. pocket was a newer design and could not be used so it was returned to Leisure Pro. I then purchased a 7 lb. weight pocket (which seems to be identical to the original 10 lb. pocket, only the handle is a different color.) She has not had any issues with loosing pockets.CHRISTOPHER C : No, Never had a problem with them falling out. Just make sure when you clip them in that there is nothing in the way. Sometimes I have something in the zipper pockets and that can get in the way of clipping in the weight pocket.WAYNE H : I have dove with the Avid for about 4-5 years. Lost one weight pocketing over 300 dives. You must make sure the pocket is properly seated in the opening and pushed all the way in. Then engage the clamp properly, you should hear a loud click when clamp is engaged. The clamp will go together offline but does not properly engage. Be careful doing this before any dive and you will stop losing weight pockets.HYRUM T : We have 3 AVID CQR BCD's in the family. We have never had this happen one time in over 400 combined dives. Sorry you had a problem. Are you hearing an audible click when the connector is snapped in. Is is possible you have a bad connecter?BRIAN S : I own one of those bcd’s too probably have a 200+ dive with mine and never had this issue? It actually takes some effort to pull mine out. Putting them in requires some effort too. When inserted correctly, they should make a loud click when engaged. Only issue i’ve with those pockets is hard weights. Just a warning, if in fact you do use solid lead, make sure to wrap them in a hand towel or something so they don’t flop around. The hard weights will blow out the zipper in a heartbeat if they are loose. I got less than a weeks worth of a trip before I learned that lesson.
Greer R : Will this work on an older version Avid which has the old style weight pockets using insert clips only?HAROLD E : no
Nick P : How many soft weights can fit in one pocket?HAROLD E : Probably 10 pounds. I use 10 pounds of hard weight, as it slides in and out much easier than soft weight.DICK S : Enough to fit ten pounds of weight no matter which configuration of weights I have actually put 13 lbs 4 and 5 soft weight and a 4 lb lead weightmatthew l : It depends on the weight of them. It will hold up to a 10lb hard weight.Terry G : Side XL will hold 10 pounds in each pocketHYRUM T : I have put 2 5lb soft weights in this pocket. BUT, it doesn't work as well as 2 5lb hard weights. or you can buy 10 lb weights in one piece vinyl clad that work well.
STEVE R : Are these interchangeable? If I have a BCD with 10lb pockets could I use 13lb pockets?BRIAN S : I replaced 10's with 7's so I would imagine the 13's would work as well...I do recommend you use soft weights with those pockets. Lead weights will bust the zippers if you are not careful.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?SCOTT S : The zipper on my original broke.KAREN H : I lost the other one.DAVID P : Lost one need a spareJOHN M : I wore out the old ones . Love this BCD.DICK C : Replacement weight pocket, for my Sherwood Avoid BCD, which I lost on my last dive.HAROLD E : Because they are crappy quality, and keep breaking, which is dangerous. The cheap zipper pulls apart and the weights fall out. Before much longer I will just get a DIFFERENT brand of BC. Sherwood is garbage.
