Questions & Answers

mike w : where does the air line hook up?Brett J : The primary air hose from the first stage regulator connects to the full face mask on the right side. Most divers have a quick disconnect fitting so they can disconnect the hose from the mask for storage, etc. But hose connection has nothing to do with the hood at all.CHRISTOPHER F : The regulator is built into the mask . Has nothing to do with the hoodBrian O : There is no air line into the hood; it's not like a dry suit. The only air line would be the one running to your regulator, and that would vary by make and model of full-face mask. For example, I use my Seasoft hood with an OTS Spectrum full-face mask, and that mask takes a conventional regulator, in my case an Aqua~Lung Legend LX Supreme. There may be some confusion because Seasoft calls it a "dry suit hood," but in fact I use mine with a wet suit.
CHRISTOPHER T : Does this hood have a skirt that tucks into the neck of the wetsuit, or does it not have a skirt?DAN P : It has a short neck flap, designed to work with a dry suit. The way they cut the jaw is very good. It takes the pressure off the jaw,, no single seam down the center, there are two allowing for a comfortable fit. I use the same mask as shown, hood works very well, does not leak, old hood would. Would and will buy again. DanELIZABETH R : It does not have a skirtGEOFFREY A : no skirtPETER S : No Skirt to tuckDAVID O : No skirt. As the description says, it is for a dry suit. There is adequate neoprene in the neck to cover a dry suit neck seal, but that is it., and it is meant to be worn with a full face mask. Without the spider strap of the FFM squeezing it in place, it will capture a lot of air.CHANNCE D : The one I bought does not tuck into a wetsuitDAVE D : No, it doesn't feature a skirt and was intended solely for drysuit use. I actually bought a second one and had a skirt added, for wetsuit use as well . . .CHAD T : I bought a few awhile back they had a very short collar on them. Might be enough to tuck inside the neck of your top but it's not much...maybe 1 1/2" or 2. Hope that helps.MARK R : No, it does not
BRIAN W : I dove this hood with my OTS guardian on new years day dive. I was not impressed with the performance of the hood. The mask fit normally for the first 40 ft and then began to loosen up. It got a bit worse as I descended. I called the dive at 70 feet. And we began to ascend. It did not fit any better for the rest of the dive at shallower depths. I tried yo tighten the mask but everything had shifted. I have an XL size. Should I go to the L size? I'm worried about the neck being to tight. Mydry suit has neoprene seals.RYAN G : I would try the large depending if you have slight room in the xl. Don't risk it if you don it and it feels too tight. I've had issues with the hood here and there and I prefer to dive without it but in cold depths, you tend to just deal with the inconvenience.ANTONY M : Do to pressure neoprene compresses pull the mask tighter at the beginning of the dive and adjust it on your way down to compensate for the compression
BRIAN W : I dive a OTS Guardian FFM. My dry suit has neoprene seals. Im not sure about the right size to buy. Im not exactly fitting the classic neck and head measurements for one size. And with the neoprene seals that means the hood would need to come over the top of the neck seal. Can someone help with a sizing question?KYLE D : The best advice I could give you, would be to choose the smaller of the two options. I went with the larger size and it was a bit loose. My drysuit uses rubber seals however.JAVIER P : The idea behind that hood is great. I also dive the OTS Guardian. But the smooth material that is supposed to seal the mask wrinkle easily as in shipping and storage and tends to not completely seal also due to how thick it is presented problems with the equalizing block for your nose having to adjust it over and over again. And between switching for hooded and unhooded dives. Eventuality wound up having to trim it to seal over the mask that had another set of problems so trimmed again so it wouldn't interfere with the mark's seal. But you can do that with any hood. Best solution I found was a fleece beany under a latex hood works great from the very 1st time.JAVIER P : The idea behind that hood is great. I also dive the OTS Guardian. If I buy another I would stay true to my normal size XLELIZABETH R : The neck seems to be a little larger than suggested and the hood should just barely reach your seal.PATRICK G : Hello Brian, I am Patrick, I am a FF/EMT-eRDI Public Safety Diver. I purchased this hood and was very happy. Now I bought a size larger than Needed and found out I would have been fine with the standard size. I do have a bit of extra room and since my mask seals over the hood I'm fine. The neck should accommodate your dry seal . If you are like me you like to do it right the first time. I would suggest to go with your normal size and if too small return for refund. I hope this helps PatrickCHAD T : Hey Brian - I Dive a DUI CF200X w/ neo seals and the hood size that seemed to work the best for me was the XL. I'd guess a bigger hood will have a roomier neck collar but be too gappy on the skull. My neck measures about 17" and head is about 24". One word of warning on this hood: the smooth neo ring around the face is only GLUED to the rest of the stitched hood. So, either be careful when removing, or go get it stitched to keep from tearing it off. Wish they'd made it right from the start! Good luck.
WILLIAM P : I dive with the Ocean Reef Neptune II but I dive with a wetsuit. I need a hood that seals with a full face mask, but I don't know if this will work due to the lack of a bib?PETER S : I am not familiar with the ocean reef as I dive with an interspiro full face, I use this hood with both dri suit and wet suit. It is the most comfortable hood I have ever owned. It is also first hood that seals perfect on the mask without air leaks. Hope this helps.....PeteTRENT S : I dive with a AGA Interspiro FFM. The hood does a great job of making a tight seal with the mask. The hood is designed to be used with a drysuit do to the lack off a bib. My guess is that you will get water movement around your neck and shoulders because you can't tuck it in. Depending on the temperature of the water you are diving in, that could be pretty unpleasant. As you probably know, hoods for FFM are few and far in between. Another option is trim the face opening of a bib hood to fit your FFM. Not a perfect option but it works.ELIZABETH R : I use a dry suit but this hood has worked very well for myself and a couple other members of my dive team.

Great fit, better seal

Fits great, just as comfortable as my Mares hood if not a little more so, just tends to be a little shorter around the neck

Great hood for cold water with my FFM and wet suit.

This hood has worked wonderfully with my OTS Spectrum full-face mask. I wear it with the neck tucked under a wet suit, despite it being marketed as a "dry suit hood." The smooth outer skin around the face opening keeps my mask virtually leak free, and I can even wear regular prescription glasses by sliding the temple pieces under the mask seal before putting on the mask.

Didn't work well with the Poseidon Atmosphere

It could have just been the shape of my face but I could not get it to seal correctly with my Poseidon Atmosphere FFM. The positive pressure provided by the mask would find a spot an blow out.

Fine hood with some alteration . . .

I use a FFMs with both drysuits and wetsuits; so I bought two hoods and added a 3 mm bib to one of them. Altogether, a fine product; though it could have used a bit more reinforcement where the skin met the nylon -- something I had added . . .

Kept mask on and head dry

Dove wih this hood on yesterday working under a boat. Kept ffm secured and sealed great. Kept head dry. Used with dry suit did not have any problems. Did notice that the seams around the face on the hood could be better. Can see the seam coming apart in the future.

Good hood for FFM, but not as general dry suit hood

This is an excellent hood for drysuit and FFM use. The FFM seals right against the hood and there is no water intrusion. the hood feels like a perfect fit when I try it on at surface. However, the FFM strap helps hold the hood tight around your head. So if you use without a FFM, the hood stretches enough to get a big air pocket that affects your buoyancy and trim, significantly more than any other hood I've used (been drysuit diving for 25 years). For this reason, I only give it four stars. So, excellent and highly recommended when using a FFM, but not recommended if you don't use a FFM.

Perfect for FFM

I used this hood for my Padi FFM certification. After using several other hoods with the typical big head ballooning from excess air from the FFM. I found the seal on this hood to be excellent. It has a neoprene skin inside and out for a mask over the hood seal. Take the time to measure your head as it does require an almost perfect fit. I normally wear a large however i measured my head for this hood and ordered a medium. Initially it felt a little tight, but when in the water it worked out perfectly and it will stretch a bit. My friend ordered a large as he normally does and hat issues with the seal so measure and then order you won't be dissapointed I had no issues with a tight fit on the neck. .

cold weather ffm hood

This is my 2nd one the first one lasted a little over a year. The last one tore at the attached seal skin around the face. Don't pull it down around your neck with your head through the face opening take it off properly and it will last. These hoods are perfect for cold weather diving with a full face mask and it doesn't matter which mask. I have used it with aga, guardian, or ocean reef and it works perfectly. I highly recommend this hood

Bring on the full face masks!

Purchased hoods to be used on regional dive rescue operations in order to be able to utilize full face masks with diver-diver and diver-surface communications. True to fit. Comfortable, and will be put to good use. Bring on the full face masks!

When diving, the deeper a diver goes the colder it generally gets and with increasing pressure, a typical neoprene hood gets thinner. If the temperature is getting colder and your hood is getting thinner, you're going to get cold. And, when you consider that 35% of heat loss is from the head area, it seems like this would be a place to make sure you are adequately protected to ensure warmth and comfort.

The Seasoft Titanium PRO/C6 Hood has 4-different types of nylon-2 neoprene including compressed neoprene for the back-3 panels of the hood. This means that no matter how deep you go, they are still their original thickness and working to keep you warm! You will not find any seams down the middle of the chin either. This seam, found in almost all hoods today, can cause jaw fatigue. The Seam is there because it is less expensive to make a hood from just two halves. Seasoft does not believe that a hood is the place to go cheap.

The hood has titanium flakes foil technology that creates 2-layers of titanium Foil that reflects cold away and reflects your heat in keeping you warmer than hoods without this technology. The 6mm material is going to naturally fit and stretch around your head better. This leaves less room for cold water to occupy under your hood, this helps to maintain warmth as well. There are also two very small holes for air to escape from the inside crown of the hood in case air enters your hood with a thin baffle built over the holes to prevent water from entering.

The Seasoft PRO / C6 6mm Dry Suit Hood is a commercial dry suit hood designed to be worn with a full-face mask in cold water. The PRO/C6 has a layer of skin-in neoprene on the inside and on the outside with a layer of tough nylonin between these two layers. The skin-in neoprene allows the hood to seal to your face and the full-face mask to Seal to the Hood.SeaSoft Pro/C6 Wetsuit Hood use 6mm Neoprene with Glued and Sewn Seams for strength and durability. The hood is available in multiple sizes and is black in color.
