Several have survived falls or impacts with rocks or other objects protecting the Viper air screen. If you own one of the Suunto Computers a Shield in your save a dive kit is a must.

Poorly designed

Unfortunately, I too can say little positive about this poorly designed but somewhat necessary protective cover. I wrap a rubber band about the face cover to help ensure it stays in place. So yes, I have to move the rubber band or look around it but it beats loosing this over-priced $20.00 item. It comes loose and leaves when you least expect it. Still, it's necessary lest you forgo and risk scratching the DC face. A ripoff just the same. Disappointing given Suunto's reputation for high quality and rugged design. I give this component a grade of "D".

Short Lifetime, Very Expensive.

Works OK when new, the retainer teeth fail over time so it can fall off, and cracks and scratches occur easily. I always have to tape over the top and replace frequently (about every 100 dives). This is a consumable item and. Costs way too much for a molded plastic disk, worth about $5.00

Well worth having a spare

Tired of having to submerge your computer in water so you can see through the gauge protector? Once your gauge protector gets scuffed and scratched enough you can hardy read it on the surface between dives, it still protects the computers crystal, but if you can't read the computer between dives it time to replace it. The display shield is designed to protect the Helo2, Vyper 2 & Vyper Air computers from scratches, abrasions and harmful UV rays.
