Classic downstream piston- The Mark 2 EVO is the best example of bulletproof reliability and trouble-free, minimum maintenance regulators.The classic downstream piston configuration is the simplest mechanism that exists to control the pressure drop from a tank to feed the second stage.The classic downstream valve is the first choice of diving centers and rental facilities worldwide for warm and moderate water temperatures. Classic downstream valves are particularly noted for their legendary safety and reliability. When in use, the downstream valve opens in the same direction as the incoming air flow. To close the valve and stop the air flow, a spring counteracts the force of the incoming air. Therefore, a certain inhalation effort is always required to overcome the spring tension and open the valve.

This first stage epitomizes reliability and simplicity. Its standard Flow-By-Piston design is ideal for divers who don't want to get bogged down with an overwhelming number of bits and pieces, but still want the peace of mind that comes with a sound piece of equipment. This first stage is equipped with Scubapro's Extended Thermal Insulating System (XTIS), which will keep your first stage functioning properly, even in frigid water. The New Scubapro MK2 EVO first stage regulator meets the new EN250-2014 requirements for cold water diving, CE approved for 3360 psi (230 bars). This model goes even beyond this super stringent qualification and have successfully been tested in extreme cold diving conditions at less than 36.7-degree F (2.6-degree C).

The freezing resistance has been increased by 50% over the previous MK2 regulator first stage. Scubapro has achieved this with some new design features. The new MK2 EVO has a proprietary insulating coating on key internal components that resist the cooling effect found in previous MK2 first stage regulators, also as a specific anti-freezing measure; Scubapro engineers have designed a patented finned cap with ribs for the MK2 EVO first stages for optimal-cold water diving. The ribs of the XTIS act as a radiator to increase the surface area of heat transfer from the water to warm up the internal parts that have been drastically cooled down by the gas pressure drop. The new MK2 EVO has a bigger body and cap thread, new body insulating bushing, spring isolating coating, removable HP orifice and larger opening on the cap. The MK2 has one 7/16" threaded high-pressure port and four 3/8" threaded low-pressure ports. The first stage body is manufactured from marine-grade chrome plated brass.

Lightweight S270 casing is made of a fiberglass-reinforced nylon core and a special polyurethane (PU) outer layer, is extremely durable plus helps reduce jaw fatigue and improves diving comfort. Regulator second stage has a techno polymer plastic barrel with a metal thread and a balanced valve that helps save weight and provides a surface that ice crystals can't grab onto when diving in extreme cold water. Air-balanced valve smooths out the inhalation effort when diving at varying depths and supply pressures. Dive/predive switch is easy to use even wearing thick gloves. Compact and efficient exhaust tee minimizes exhalation effort. Second stage includes a reusable mouthpiece clamp and 3/8" threaded LP hose. Regulator weighs 21 oz (595.3g), is nitrox ready up to 40% oxygen out of the box and comes with a read first manual.
