The VRS 2000 and VRS 4000 are the first and only self-contained underwater Vehicle Recovery System available today. The US Coast Guard asked Subsalve to create a system to aid recovery of downed helicopters. The result is the VRS 4000-Helo, these 3 recover systems are described below:
VRS 2000 and 4000: Using state-of-the-art design materials and manufacturing processes, this all-purpose system is designed to be portable for rapid deployment and is the result of an 18-year evolutionary process drawing from hundreds of product applications, combined with technological advancement. Subsalve USA engineers and technicians have worked with the commercial and public safety diving communities to develop and refine this system, not just on the drawing board, but in the water on recoveries.
Each Subsalve USA Lift Bag leaves Subsalve's manufacturing facility equipped with all necessary hardware and is ready for immediate use. Each Subsalve USA Lift Bag is tested prior to shipping. The lift bag assemblies' folds into a heavy-duty zippered carrying case with nylon handles and an adjustable shoulder strap. The lift bags are built to last made from high strength heavy-duty ballistic rated urethane coated nylon fabric. This specially coated fabric is high strength, very resistant to abrasion, not affected by most petrochemicals and UV resistant. The VRS 2000 and 4000 are used by over 250 domestic and 50 worldwide public safety dive teams.
The VRS 2000 System features include: 2x 2000 lbs (909kg) enclosed flotation bags equipped with a pocket to contain an 80-cubic foot aluminum Scuba cylinder. The air cylinder is connected to the lift bag with a Scuba yoke and hose assembly with a one-way check valve to allow for easy tank changes while preventing any loss of air from the bag. The attachment design includes 2 stainless-steel lift rings on the top and 2 on the bottom of the bag, allowing the lift bag to be rigged either flat or upright. The bottom lift rings are each equipped with a 3' (7.6cm) length of 1/4" galvanized proof coil chain with a stainless-steel snap carabineer on the end with the lift rings spaced at 40" (101.6cm) apart and the carabineer on the end of the chain. This allows attachment to the front and rear bumper or shock brackets of most vehicles and is quick and easy to attach. This design also enables the bags to be rigged to cradle the car by connecting the two 3' (7.6cm) chains together to pass under the vehicle. The lift bags are equipped with a pressure relief valve in each corner to prevent blow up and to allow the diver to manually vent the bag from any corner. A 3/4" brass ball valve is located at the top center of each lift bag to allow for rapid deflation. All components pack into two carrying cases that are 51" x 20" (129.5cm x 50.8cm) and weigh about 60 to 100 lbs. (27 to 45 kg).
The VRS 4000 a System of 2x 4,400 lbs (2,000 kg) capacity enclosed floatation Bags with an integral inflation system, designed for aircraft that frequently fly over water. The bags have pocket to contain an 80-cubic foot aluminum Scuba cylinder. Manually operated inflation valve inflates bags in approximately 2-minutes. The air cylinder is connected to the lift bag with a Scuba yoke and hose assembly with a one-way check valve to allow for easy tank changes while preventing any loss of air from the bag. The attachment design includes 2 stainless-steel lift rings on the top and 1 on the bottom of the bag with high strength snap hooks for rapid attachment.
