Questions & Answers

daniel d : does it have a strap with it?darrick c : Hello Daniel, yes this comes with a lanyard wrist strap.ZEDRIC B : Yes, it includes a simple nylon lanyard for your wrist.GLENN A : There was a lanyard included when I purchased mine.
JIM F : Can someone give me a rough size of this light, like length and width?Mario C : 6 inches long by 1.5 diameter
Shopper : Is this light intrinsically safe ?WAYNE F : This light is safe. After you load the batteries and tighten the bezel, you are ready to go. Having the on/off switch means that you DO NOT have to turn the bezel while under water. I have had lights previous to this one which required the bezel turn, eventually allowed moisture into the battery area. I original purchased this light for 4 individuals going to the Bahamas. The light was ideal. Upon returning< I purchased 2 more for my wife and I. Went to Bonaire with them this Summer.NO PROBLEMSBOBBY S : This light uses AA batteries, not lithium as is suspected in the recent tragedy. It’s as safe as any other device powered by AA batteries. I own 3, and love them. They are reliable, durable, and inexpensive.STEVEN M : Not sure what you mean by intrinsically safe. It’s a bright light and it works well. Mine has never shorted out and I’ve had it for several years as a bcd light. I’m an instructor, so it’s in the water a lot. Eventually the bulbed went out, so I’ve replaced it with the same. It’s a good back up or a general bcd light. The switch mechanism isn’t the best design, but it works.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?Gary M R : good for looking into the coralsERICH P : Most lumens per dollar. Replacing my mini q40.CHRISTOPHER C : Had one before and I liked it.William P : small, under $50KATHY R : Awesomely, simple, reliable, inexpensive light. So great, I'm getting another as a backup.KEN H : Both my backup light and my son's backup light failed at the same time. Changing brands for a more reliable backup.NORMA S : i have used this lights for work and they work great!ROY R : they make a descent backup lightJIM F : Looking for the smallest light that had an on-off switch, as opposed to the screw-in/screw-out bezel method.Bruce L : Light time and ergo shape.

Don?t buy this

Took it back. Very poorly made. It fell apart when I opened the box.

Good value but can overheat after 60 minutes

Seems like a decent value. I've used mine on probably 30+ dives. It recently went out near the end of a 68 minute night dive. I was in Hawaii so the water was pretty warm and it looks like the LED must have gotten very hot and melted the reflector around it. It decided to start working again after a few hours. I was using 1.5V Energizer lithium batteries and lithium batteries supposedly maintain a higher voltage over their life compared to alkaline so maybe that made it overheat??? I still use it during the day for looking under things and it hasn't done it since but it makes me question its reliability.

Princeton Tec 420

It has been a good purchase for me. The beam is good, for looking in holes and dark places. It has a good fit and feel in my hand and I like the switch. Replacing the batteries is much easier than my previous light. Double AA are easier to come by than the C batteries I use to have to carry.

Save your money

Wanted more light/lumens in a small 4 AA batt. Light. Have a UK mini Q40 mk2 250 lumens narrow beam. Bought a Princeton tec league 420 lumens. Went into a dark walk-in closet. Compared the two NO comparison UK Q40 much brighter 250 vs 420 lumens. Got out my UK SL4 4 C batt. 400 lumen heavier light. Compared it to Princeton light NO comparison almost twice a bright, but UK much heavier.

Awesome Find!!

I love mine. It sank past me as I was doing my safety stop with some rented gear on. I grabbed it and offered it back to whoever lost it once I got back on the boat. Nobody claimed it so it has been with me ever since. I think someone must have left it behind in their rental bcd and I just happened to be in the right area at the right time. I liked it immediately and bought one for my dive buddy (which he proceeded to lose out of his bcd pocket in Little Cayman??). I replaced that one for him too. The design of the light is very comfortable. The bend in the body really makes the light easier to handle and point. A plus. It is a good palm size too. Not a mini light but not a big bulky light either. It runs on AA batteries which is a plus. I am a photo/video guy so I already have a bag of various different chargers I need to bring on trips with me. My buddy always carries his with him for shadowey holes in rocks and swim thrus. It's also a good way to get my attention when I have my face buried in a camera...even during the daytime. It has a double oring housing (if I remember correctly). Never had mine leak...or either of the 2 my buddy has owned. Another really nice feature is the locking, one-handed, on/off switch!! It is naturally located right under your thumb when pointing it. Never again do you have toworry about bumping it on accidentally. Lock it on or lock it off. Your choice The brightness?? I use it as my primary light at night.it diffuses pretty good out at about 80, so things can be a little more difficult to identify. But that's only when you want to see if any interesting creatures are lurking you. Battery life must be pretty good because I haven't changed my batteries since I found the light last Summer. I really am happy with these lights. If you want something with more testosterone you can spend another $150 bucks on a metal dive light for around $200 bucks or more. For the money though these Princeton Tec lights are awesome. Disclaimer: my light and my buddy's 1st light we're 260 lumens. When I replaced his I got him this newer 420 lumen version for a couple extra bucks. All else appears to be the same.
