Questions & Answers

Vincent C : Is this U.S. Coast Guard Approved to replace pyrotechnic hand held flairs?BEN W : NoPETER V : NO. It is a tank marker light for diving.
Hollie M : Just put in batteries and nothing is happening. Is there something else I need to do as well?ROGER L : 3 items to look at: 1 - Batteries installed correctly in battery housing (+ & -) 2 - Light module only works one way. If light does not turn on, reverse the position of the light module in the battery housing 3 - Unsure that the lens is tightened down all the way to activate the lightHollie M : Thanks everyone! Problem solved. Bulb was faulty. When I put in the other one it worked.DAVID S : You need to twist it down like most of the underwater lights. Battery reversed, or dead I had a couple dead ones in past. Great light I have had several last long enough for 4 or 5 battery changes or 4 to 5 years. Keep an eye on the oring you can get at your local Ace hardware usually. Good luck and happy divingKENNETH F : I had no problem with the 2 that I bought. Make sure the batteries are inserted in the correct directions.TERRY S : Make sure the batteries point in opposite directions. A common problem over time is the contacts in the bottom corrode so you can put a small piece of aluminum foil in the bottom for a better contact. TerryDON M : Did you try reversing the battery position the lamp is polarity sensitive, also wipe the lamp contacts with a paper towel dipped in alcohol to be sure you have a clean contact area. Lastly does the internal assembly make good contact with the batteries?DAVID C : Make sure batteries are fresh and thy are installed the right way and to turn it on you need to twist it all the way down WILLIAM M : screw the top down until it comes on (if i remember right)...I gave this away as a gift. Check polarity on batteries?J.C. F : Light is triggered by pressure so you'll have to acre the top in tightly to test it.
LING W : I see the burn time for the red flashing LED bulb, which is 500 hrs. But what is the burn time for the white incandescent bulb?DAVID B : Pre dive planning. Fill the sink and burn a set of batteries. Then we all will know. From experience: Small LEDs will last 100's of hours. Incandescent last 10ish.YAN G : Princeton Tec does not give specifications for the Krypton bulb, but do not expect more than 3-4 hours from it.
TODD C : OK at the risk of sounding like a moron.... How in the world do you switch this thing from red flashing to white?WALTER R : You have to change the bulb.RONALD P : You get two bulbs with the light. You just switch the bulbs.RICHARD E : There are two separate bulbs (red and clear). One screws off the top, removes one, and inserts the other (before entering the water).TODD C : I don't see an extra bulb in the package. I will have to call LP when they open.D.ROY C : different bulbsABHISHEK A : It's been a very long time since I used this particular night tank light, but I believe when you purchase the light, it comes with two different bulbs --- one is red flashing and the other is a continuous white. You can install whichever bulb you wish to use.
Shopper : What is the burn time?LeisurePro S : The Eco Flare has a burn time of 500 hours on 2 AAA batteries.

Kayak light?

Look elsewhere. As others have already mentioned it?s difficult to turn on/off especially with wet hands and is so dim as to be practically invisible.

Great Light!

The little light really works once one learns to load the batteries in the only way for it to work. Attaches or goes in my life vest pocket.

Works well, but changing LED is tedious. Not recommended to change on a boat.

This light works well, but is very tedious to change the LED. The white LED is steady-on, the red LED is flashing. If that suits you, this is a cheap and functional marker. I would recommend spending $3-5 more for a marker that has a selectable color without need for pliers and dexterity.

Works as Promised - inexpensive addition to dive gear..

I bought two of these in different colors for my wife & son. They both like them. They work well and are inexpensive devices.

Scuba marker lights

This marker light is easy to use and comes with two (2) bulbs. One white light always on and a red flashing bulb, which make it dual purpose. The cost is low and affordable.

hard to turn on and off with wet hande

depending on what you want to use these for, they are very hard to turn on and off with wet hands. good replacement for glow sticks to keep track of your buddy at night, turn on before the dive and let it run.

Solid inexpensive light

Does what it says. I like the red flashing light, but the solid white one is a nice option.

Bright at night.

It's bright at night. Flashes a little faster than I like. But that would be an opinion not a fact. It works exactly as designed. I'm thinking about purchasing a second one as a backup.

Works reliably but not very bright

I've used this for myself and my daughter (each have one) on about 20 dives. There have not been any problems so far with the seals on the lights, but the lights are not very bright. They are basically ineffective during day dives unless you get into very murky water (<10 ft visibility in fresh water dives I've been on). They are good during night dives in identifying your buddy if you have several people on the dive, but even then it's not something you could see from a significant distance).

So close to a good idea

Bigger than you'd expect. The ring the lanyard isn't marine grade and rusts. The solid white or blinking red light feature needs to be clarified. It doesn't do both. It does one or the other. You also have to install the appropriate LED light into the flashlight. You can unscrew it just enough to dive and not have it blink, but sometimes pressure will make it contact and light up anyway if you're not careful.

nice light

I really like this light! We attach to our tanks for night diving. Gives everybody an idea of where we are while diving. Not too bright to be obnoxious or distracting. Great price and comes with an extra bulb and lanyard.

great light

I have purchased many of these lights over the years and have found several uses for them beyond diving. They are perfect marker lights for walking our dogs at night, and I always have a pair of them in my hunting pack for emergency situations. They are very durable except when they are subjected to the jaws of a young Lab ;-)

Small, simple and robust

This small flashlight is very simple in its operation, with power by adjusting the thread of his head. It comes with a flashing red light and fixed light white one. I changed the red LED and put the fixed white light because I need that soft light for night diving and use it both on and off the water. I have another with very visible red LED on the agua.No emits a very bright light, not for that, but grants a soft ambient white light within about a meter and a half (5 feet), is strong, cheap, simple and durable, as water leakage prevention, I put silicone grease in the screw head yo'ring. Very good product.

Great marker light for night diving

If you are looking for a marker light for night diving, look no further. At first glance, it seems a bit large for a marker light but when used underwater, it's great! Easy to keep track of my wife because she has the brightest marker! Should have bought 2 so she can keep track of me!!!

I can see the light

Easy to see by other divers because I clipped it to the back of my BC. Outstanding in night dives. They see the light blinking and follow me. It can also be attached to a weight at the bottom so the students know they are in the right area. This works great in navigational training. Gives the students something to shoot for.

Didn't work out of the box - will return, no stars

I purchased this in early April 2016 and it was inoperable as it came out of the box. I tried my own new batteries and adjusting the bulb, but no luck. I will return this. Wanted to give zero stars.

it's good, had one for years...

Think this one has been a little more reliable than others that I've owned. Mine did not have any indication as to how to orient the batteries - not a big deal, I just figured it out and then marked the inside with an indelible marker pen. I remove the batteries when I store the light - and now when I'm ready to install batteries and use - I know which way to orient the batteries without having to experiment. Make sure you have some silicone grease, tightening the dome on is tough without re-greasing the o-ring.

Cute Light, Small Package

By JEFF K.

Light comes with "constant on" LED (White) -AND- "flashing" LED (Red). I chose this only as a tank marker light, as it really doesn't have a "beam" like a dive light. Bought two - one for my wife and one for me. Product is compact and lightweight, which is perfect for combatting the ever decreasing weight restrictions on airlines.

Best flashing marker light I've tried!

By nwscubamom

I love this light! It's small, attaches easily to your cylinder using the toggle and lanyard. It's positively buoyant, and floats above your valve, so it's easy to see and the light is easily spotted in our often-limited Pacific NW vis. I have tried now about 3 other flashing marker lights, (some costing as much as $40) and am most impressed with this hard-working little light.

A vital part of any outdoor enthusiast's equipment bag, the Eco Flare can be set on constant, high-output mode for use as an area/personal locator light, or on flashing, red Ultra-Bright LED mode for low-visibility, dark nights. The Ultra-Bright LED will burn in excess of 500+ hours on 2 (included) AAA alkaline batteries. The Eco Flare can also be attached to your dog's collar for easy identification in low light conditions.

Light comes with a built-in clip and lanyard for attachment to gear or pet. The LED provides 10 lumens of brightness and the light weighs 1.48 oz. (42 g) with batteries. Light is available in multiple color choices, is made from high impact polycarbonate plastic, is Depth Rated to 330' (100 meters) and comes with an owner's manual.
