Questions & Answers

Shopper : how do you get 8 c batteries in this?MICHAEL Z : Lens cover of the housing unscrews. It has a well designed battery holder that allows batteries to be stacked and held in place. Good lumens, but drawback is size of unit. If size is not an issue (i.e. Tech Diving), it's a good light.JEREMIAH D : Slide the entire battery pack unit out of the casing. There are a couple slots on the underside for more batteries. Enjoy!MICHAEL G : Unscrew the lense housing from the light handle. There is a container for the batteries inside.DONALD G : You simply remove the battery module. Remove and replace the six batteries inside the module by following the red arrows. The last two are attached to the rear of the module. Once again following the red arrows.SEAN S : Easy, 6 in the front and 2 sideways in the back. just look at the holder, just put a battery everywhere you see the little + and - symbol. There is a picture that shows it on the pelican website.
MATTHEW T : I have purchased one of these and they are great! my question is where can I get an "O-ring" for the lens cover?TUAN P : Replacement part according to the manual is: 4301 Lens O-ring I could not find an easy place that sells this part. I would contact Pelican directly. Usually for an o-ring they may consider this a warranty item. Never hurts to ask! www|pelican|com|support|contact.php Let us know how it turns out.DERRICK S : needed one a while back went to the local hydraulic store . found it in yellow pages they had a wide variety of O-rings in stock
Shopper : How many Lumens is this light rated at?LeisurePro S : This light is rated at 276 lumens.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?Terry K : I had a King Pelican for many years but due to an injury (not dive related) I had to stop diving. I failed to remove the batteries from my light and they corroded ruining the light. This is my preferred replacement as the King Pelican is no longer available (?).MICHAEL W : Good price and features.

Powerful Light!

First delivery was prompt, but previously opened, missing instruction paperwork, and not working. I feel Leisure Pro went out of their way to make it right! I had no less than 10 emails from Cathy and Joyce keeping me appraised of the replacement. New light arrived and works great. Strongly recommend and thank Leisure Pro for excellent service!

Junk

By reading the other reviews I believed this to be a decent light at a reasonable price but I was wrong! The first light I received did not work right out of the box, Leisure Pro replaced this light right away with no troubles and I chalked it up to one of those things. The new replacement I received worked great topside but would not work at all in the water on my first dive with it, got back to shore, works fine-what? Took it on a boat dive, it was hit or miss topside worked, didn't, worked, didn't, finally got it to stay on got in the water-nothing. TOTALLY UNRELIABLE. It did not flood, the bulb is fine, brand new batteries, it was not over/under tightened yet nobody else could figure it out either, just a lot of shoulder shrugs and " thats really weird" statements. It is just junk!!!

not very bright

I bought this light to be my primary, but after comparing it to my instructor's LED light, it quickly became my backup. I like the design and durability but for the price, it could be much brighter.

Would buy again, nice value.

Nice light. Because of the large diameter, it is VERY difficult to grip in order open it to install batteries.

Good light for the money

Good light maybe not the brightest as some have stated but it works fine for me on the limited number of night dives I do, looking under ledges during the day and on limited penetration on wreck dives.

Great light for the money

I am an instructor and technical diver. I own several of these lights for use with recreational classes. It is a great light for the money. Not the best or brightest in the world but I have not found anything that comes close to the value of this light. The construction is no where as durable as other lights but I have never had a structural problem. A few floods due to students not paying attention to the o-ring a few bulbs is the only problems I have ever had from this light. Great for a new night diver.

Only uses alkaline batteries!

I checked with the sales people before I bought it and they said that I could use either types of batteries, but after I got the product and bought rechargable batteries and a charger, and it did not work, I called the manufacturer directly and they said that it could only be used with alkaine batteries.

nemo 8C

This light pretty much just lives up to expectations. I currently own 8 of them. I am an instructor and technical diver. The light is pretty much a work horse for night diving class. It is not the best or brightest but is a solid light for the money. This is a great light for the average recreational diver who is only gonna make a few night dives a year in relatively clear water. I have had a few floods and bad bulbs over the years but the light is solid and a good value. I do recommend this lights to students and have had good feedback on it.

nice heavyduty back up light

Not bright enough for my liking for use as a primary,...but then again have the Darkbuster Jr HID for that,... great for a backup use the 4C model to cut down on weight and bulkyness! Great product, good price!

Packs it in.

This little light packs a lot of good features. It's compact but puts out a good beam for it's size.

Fine choice for me

This light performs reliably for me in the chilly waters of the Pacific Northwest. I've had no failures, leaks or disappointments with it since I purchased it at the start of the 2007 season.

Powerful Light, Weak Bulbs

I used this light one time and the intensity was amazing, however, it was short lived. The bulb burned out within two minutes. On the surface I was able to replace the bulb with the back up bulb which was nice, so I could continue with more dives. The back up bulb isn't as bright, however it does the job.

Powerful and compact dive light

I find the size, weight and shape to be perfect. It really is the smallest 8C light out there! I prefer the intuitive rocking switch compared to the switches of competing brands. The switch lock is also easier to toggle. The lamp disassembles quickly for access to batteries and bulb. Though it comes with a lanyard, I purchased a retractor to go along with it for easier handling. The light output is not as white, but plenty bright for both night dives and daytime use. The xenon bulb will get quite hot, so use out of water is not recommended. If you don’t mind extra size, weight, and cost (plus the hefty bulb price) the UK Cannon 100 would be a better choice for you – however, I’m sticking to this Nemo.

Great primary light

By Terry K.

Quick delivery though I had to wait for one in yellow.

The Nemo 4300 is the ultimate dive light. The 4300 has an unbreakable ABS body with thermoplastic over molded accents and polycarbonate lens. It uses a clever magnetic switch that operates outside of the body to prevent leaking. The switch can be easily removed for washing off sand and dirt. Pelican's unique battery compartment design allows for optimal space utilization and negative buoyancy. A spare Xenon lamp is included and stored underneath the reflector. The 4300 is a 12-Volt light submersible to 330' (100 meters) and powered by 8 C alkaline cells (not included).

The Nemo 4300's hi-intensity Xenon lamp produces 175 lumens of brightness with a burn time of 6 hours on a new set of batteries. The light has a pistol grip handle with a rubber sleeved adjustable wrist lanyard. Light measures 7.5" (19 cm) long and weighs 36.6 oz. (1.04 kg) with batteries. The light has a stainless steel phosphor bronze contact spring retainer, thermoplastic rubber (TRP) shroud, and ethylene propylene O-ring seal. The light pre-focused laser spot beam has a 470' (143 meter) beam length on land. Located inside the flashlight are catalyst pellets which are present to absorb hydrogen gas that could possibly be emitted by defective, leaking, reversed polarity or heavily discharged batteries. Light is available in multiple color choices, and comes with an instruction sheet.
