Shopper : will the tie stay on your wrist or ankle?DAVID P : Yes it can. But it does have some weight to it. Id get a smaller credit card sized one if you want to have it attached to your person.STEVE S : The tie is not really a lanyard, just a short loop. I suppose one could attach some means clip/carabiner to attach for dives, but that's not the application I use it for... as a fairly water-resistant box, I use it for batteries and other components that are extremely sensitive to sea water/spray. I'm not sure if it has a depth rating, and wouldn't risk using it for that application. But then, I may be reading too much into your query.KARL L : Sorry I can't be of direct help on this. We use them to hold a small bluetooth GPS on the surface that sends its data to a nearby Bluetooth enabled notebook computer for use in sonar data collection. Good luck with your application! Shopper : How deep can this case dive? I never have anywhere to put my electronic car keys and this seems to be a good solution.ART R : Its watertight and not waterproof. I found out the hard way.CHARLES W : The box is designed for diving. You wouldn't want to anyway because of the volume of air inside. It would want to float. It would be best to leave your keys on the boat.RANDY K : Can't tell you how deep it will go. The price is cheap enough so buy one and test it. Take it down empty to the lowest depth you will go (this is what many UW photog's do with camera equipment after each airline trip) to make sure it's still "safe". It appears as though it is structurally built to withstand 130' but you want to know if YOUR CASE is that durable.LEO S : The case has a rubber pressure equalization valve (the round thing in front), therefore I would not put much trust in going deep underwater for longer periods of time. But it is a great case. I had my camera in it the whole Colorado rafting/kayaking trip with no problems.MICHAEL S : I don't know that answer. I use the cases for water sports ( wave runner, sport fishing, boating). Pelican cases are great for protecting your electronics and personalmitems from the elements.ROBERT C : This is not watertight. I took it on a dive, I think max depth was around 50 ft and the contents were flooded.

measure and measure again

Bought a 1010 to carry a replacement camera for one damaged in a spill earlier this year. Measured the camera and compared dimensions on all the Pelicans in the spec-chart and decided on the closest size. Plan for the foam insert reducing the internal dimensions of these cases. Luckily, the 1010 fits my camera snugly and is not too small and needing returning. Generously go at least one size bigger to the size of what you're packing. Also, these are more appropriate as gear-cases - not as deck-secured waterproof cases to be opened and closed with the removal and stowage of a camera or GPS.

Solid Product

I use this case every time I go fishing. I can clip it onto the outside of my backpack so it's handy and I never have to worry about my camera getting wet or broken. I have dropped my camera while in this case and stepped on the case with no sign of wear. It is a little bit wide for some of the newer cameras - I just slip my camera in a soft pouch that bunches up nicely to fill the extra space, which also provides extra padding within the hard case. Quality product that I've had for a couple years and gotten a lot of use out of.
