Questions & Answers

DENNIS L : What size is this?William J : I bought the X-Large fins. I wear a size 10 boot and my foot fits really well in it.They are lighter than my other jet fins. Shorter but wider so they are easier to travel with. I really like the spring heal straps.darrick c : Hello Dennis, the used demo version is Black size Large.
Shopper : good for snorkeling?JEFF B : Agree with previous answer. They are heavy, technical fins designed for precise underwater movements. Also being so heavy, not travel friendly for the average snorkeling enthusiastMICHAL K : Definitely not. These fins are pretty rigid, designed for frog kicking underwater. For casual swimmer they will probably feel like pieces of plywood strapped to ankles.SILVIO G : It is not the best buy for snorkeling. You won't need too much propulsion.
Elias M : Are these true to size? I wear a size 12 Cressi Isla 3mm boot. According to the size chart, I should get a fin size XXL? Would you recommend the same?WENDY B : Everyone I know seems to love them. The did'nt work for me. With drysuit, I had to try the large, it was too tight. So I tried xxl, and it was to big. I havent had any other sizing problems with other fins. Maybe I am in between sizes . It would be best to try some on before purchasing if you can.DON G : That sounds about right. I'm size 10, wear a 5mm boot, and wear XL in the OMS slipsstream. Sizing is comparable to Scubapro Jet Fins.Enter
Shopper : What's the size for shoe size 36-37?Mario C : Thank you for your question. 36-37 ( assuming it is European men sizing) is 5-6 us men an the M would be the one you need
Michael M : I use size 10 rock boots. What size OMS fin should i get?DMITRI R : I use size 10 and XLs fit well with both 7mil wet bootts and DUI dry suit with neoprene socks and 3mil sot sole wet boots. I never tried rock boots.DAN N : XL are the same size as XL SP Jet Fins. I wear size 9 shoes and I need 7 mil booties to make them fit. They preform like Jet fins but are way lighter. Less weight means less leg fatigue during long swims. I love mine. If I dive dry, I use SP Jets just to keep my feet down.

Great fins!!

Love these fins. I wear a 10.5 US shoe and the XL fit perfectly. Very easy to get on and off. In the water didn?t feel like I was wearing anything at all. Very happy with my purchase.

Great fins

Replaced my rocket fins with these, much easier to take off while hanging onto the boat ladder. Wish i bought these first. Like the choice of different shoe choices as opposed to the one size fits all that aqualung offers. These are my only non us divers gear. Good job to OMS for making better fins. Performance they are the same as the rocket fins, the bigger shoe size makes a world of difference when using dive booties. I use a size 10 boot and these are a perfect fit.

Spring straps are nice

Looking to augment my Jet Fins (could never replace). These a bit larger (longer). Feel pretty good. Good alternate to Jet Fins although I would still differ to the Jet Fins. Just did a trip to Bonaire with these and I found it more difficult to back up with these. Might take a while to get used to. Good quality product.

Great design and quality.

These fins are exactly what I wanted - neutral buoyancy, relatively light weight, SS spring heel straps, and proven design that provides good thrust for minimum effort.

Great fin!

The OMS monoprene version has all the thrust but not the density of the ScubPro Jets, much better trim.

I wanted to like these. However the springs were a bit too tight. I returned these and went for a set of Apex fins

OMS Slipstream Tech Dive Fins

Awesome fins! A must have for tech divers! You get a lot of trust and the spring straps make the fit great as well as keeping your setup in a DIR configuration.

Nice & light

I like these fins, they are much lighter than my F-1’s. They are rigid enough for swimming but they do scrape up easily (but that’s wreck diving). The sizing chart was off but LP exchanged with no issues. I was looking for a lighter fin for warm water wetsuit diving (with CCR in a wetsuit, the F-1 fins pull me out of trim and these did the trick). Size chart said 2XL for my size 12 feet but that must be with rock boots. XL works perfect with my light neoprene boots. I just wish there was a handle on the spring straps to help get them off (especially while hanging on a boat ladder in the Atlantic)

OMS fine are weightless.

These fins are great and that says a lot coming off my pair and f Holis Bat Fins. The size chart matched up perfectly for my 9 1/2 foot with boots. But most of all I wanted a lighter boot in the water, and these have zero weight when in the water giving me a much better profile in the water.

Love these fins!

Short enough to fit in my carry on bag, stiff and wide enough to give good propulsion. Not the best for stronger currents, but in low current situations they are fantastic for frog kicking, reversing, helicopter, and tight turns and adjustments. They are very close to neutrally buoyant so, if you should happen to drop one getting on the boat, you've got a couple seconds to react and catch them before they sink :-)

Very light and efficient

New reading for the classic "old school rubber fins". Realy light and efficient, it may not be the best choice for dry suits. Certainly a great choice for fans of frog kick.

nice fin, good boot, tight strap,

Pro's: tried and true design, larger/taller foot pocket than the trademaked jets, lighter weight Con's: no finger hold on the strap, can be tight with rock boots, lightweight can affect trim When in a dry suit; trim is perfect in fresh, slightly positive in salt. The lighter weight may be something to be considerate of if you have trim difficulties in a dry suit. I don't own splits or anything of lighter weight for comparison here, so take it for what it's worth. Love the fin, Hate the straps. I couldn't get my size 10 rock boot into the jet fins, just not a tall enough boot pocket. These in XL are plenty tall to get them in, while still fitting my standard size 9 neoprene wet shoe. However, the straps are near impossible to get over the rock boot. I took the spring straps from the scubapro jets and they bolted right in. Not only did this allow both pairs of foot wear to be used, but had the added finger hook. You can get larger straps from OMS for these fins, but they still don't come with finger hooks.

Fantastic!

These fins are light, strong, and produce plenty of propulsion! Foot pockets are much more comfortable than ScubaPro Jets'. Love those after my first dive

Slipstream Fins

These are a big help for people with heavy feet who want a tech fin but can't do the weight of a Jet fin in a wetsuit. It is a shame that they seem to be discontinued by OMS. There are other options out there but this one seems to be working for me. Some say you can adjust you leg position to balance heavy fins and keep trim. I think this is not true for everyone so light fins are a big help.

Bad strap desgin, broke after 27 dives.

I bought these fins because they were so much cheaper then Jet Fins and looked almost identical. On the positive side, I did like feel of these fins, they felt very efficient in the water, and even though they are kinda light, pretty much neutral, they didn't negatively effect my trim. However they have several major problems. The first (and most minor) problem was the foot pocket which was a little small. This made it pretty difficult to remove with my dry suit rock boots. I did end up buying some fairly thin wetsuit booties and that was a lot better. Next is the way the straps attach to the fin. The way it should work, they way it works on jet fins, is that you can flip up the little bar to adjust the strap length, then pull it down to lock it. These fins do not "lock" so when you are not wearing them, the bar flips up, and the strap length can loosen by themselves between dives, and if you don't catch it they can slip off during the dive. This problem combined with the last one means that these fins are both hard to take off and paradoxically likely to come off on their own. The final problem is that after just 27 dives one of my fins developed a 2 inch crack running the length of the bottom of the foot pocket, that I'm sure would continue to grow with use until these fins are worthless. The good news is that they are under a 12 month warranty so I'll send them back to be repaired or replaced. But given this and the other issues, I would much rather get my money back so I could put that towards some Jet Fins.

Great light alternative to slipstreams!

As an instructor and dive guide, I sometimes need to physically pull someone through a current. For this alone, these fins are worth it - they hardly flex at all, which unfortunately means you need more effort on long journeys in calm waters (divers with softer longer fins will probably use less effort than you), but in a current they are monsters, shovelling water behind you and every kick causes you to push ahead very decisively even in into a very strong head-on current. Think of them as a diesel engine vs. petrol: Not the fastest (but then scuba diving shouldn't be fast), but they can push A LOT of weight through a very strong head-on current. Also great for manuverability, helicopter turns, back-pedalling etc... My JetFins would get the same review, but I switched to the OMS Slipstreams because of the weight difference (with a single tank I find my Jets just too heavy and end up with a sore back trying to keep my profile right in the water). They're not 'featherlight', but they are about half the weight of the jets (and noticeably stiffer in the water than the jets too). The foot pocket is larger than the Jets. An 'L' in both gives me a perfect fit in my Jets but a little bit of 'wiggle' in the slipstreams.

Great for precision kicks

Great fins for frog kicks, back kicks, and helicopter turns. Light, so they trim out well in a wetsuit or for diving sidemount. A little too light for me in backmount doubles, which want to put me head-down.

Great Tech Fin

By Major R.

I used ScubaPro Jet Fins for a while. They are heavy and tend to pull the legs down which can affect your trim (I'm 6'5" and have long legs). The OMS SlipStream Fins are neutrally buoyant and lighter than the JetFins, which I prefer. They are a bit stiffer than the JetFins which I personally like. Finally, the foot compartment is MUCH more comfortable. The JetFins and SlipStreams are made out of a slightly different material. I've used both fins in caves, and they are both great for frog ...

Great Dry Suit Fin

By James H.

Reviewed several posts online for a good fin for drysuit boots. It was a toss up between these and Powerfins. I chose these and coun't be happier- Enjoyed them so much bought a size smaller (XL) for regular bottie dives. I wear a size 12 Whites dry suit boot and the 2XL's fit great

An OMS favorite! Slipstream Fins are made with monoprene creating a lightweight but high performance fin. Made with a spring heel strap, Slip Stream Fins give divers an easy donning fin that will also deliver the goods" in any condition. The light weight helps to keep the divers legs in optimal position when a low-silting kick is necessary and is also optimal for divers reduce damage while working around sensitive marine areas like coral reefs.

A fin so revolutionary that the U.S. Navy cut their swim time by 1 minute on a 500 Meter (540 yard) Swim! This proven fin design is manufactured from a lightweight, neutrally buoyant Monoprene resin that results in better trim positioning with maximum thrust on the down kick and minimal resistance on the up kick.

This traditional" open heel vented fin has durable Spring straps. One size does not fit all. Did you know that one size fits all spring heel straps may cause excessive coil expansion when used on a larger boot and extreme discomfort to your heel? This excessive coil expansion can facilitate line entanglement in between the expanded coils! OMS Spring Heel Straps come in multiple sizes to insure proper fit and help eliminate excessive coil expansion and entanglements! The springs expand and contract to automatically adjust and compensate for expansion and compression of the divers boot. The thick 4.5" (11.4 cm) Achilles rubber pad provides unprecedented comfort in the heel area prevents heel discomfort and aids in donning and doffing of the fin.
