Questions & Answers

MATTHEW C : i have an oceanic bioflex bcd.  would this part fit to replace the current inflator?  are any other parts needed to do the replacement?   is the replacement simple to do on my own or would i need the help of an expert at a dive shop?   (sorry if this is a duplicate.. not sure if my first question went through)JOE S : The only issue is that the corrugated hose will be a different length. This will fit on it, but what you have may not be long enough to use comfortably and safely. You may want to consider getting the whole assembly which has the longer corruhgated hose.
LELAND B : I have an old OP5K BCD. I had it in for service, and there is a small hole at the top of the corrugated hose just at the shoulder. Does the Air XS2 come with a full hose that attaches to the BC and completely replaces the original? If not, what hose can use to fill the gap?JOE S : Oceanic sells a replacement hose in parts with the ball connection between the two hose sections as it comes or as a single hose with the power inflator on it.Mario C : the air 2 does not come with a corrugated hose. I do not sell the corrugated hose for that bcd...
caleb w : has anyone had problems with the diaphragm not holding up and collapsing, allowing air to flow through freely?JOHN D : So far I have only used mine for 26 dives in warm water, but have not had any problems.DAVID L : i have never had the diaphragm not hold up, or tear. they are pretty durable i have two air xs 2 apx 3 years and 10 years both have original diaphragms although a few time i noticed a small leak both times i unscrewed the retainer ring and removed the diaphragm and flushed with water to resolve the issues. apparently some sand slipped in while lobstering.DAVID M : No. Been using for almost 3 years with no issues.DALE P : Yes. Was unable to use manual inflater to inflate BCD without covering exhaust port to divert air flow.TORBJORN L : I have never experienced this with the Oceanic Air XS 2 during the approximate 20 dives performed with this equipment. Have had the regulator for 3 years now, all dives performed in warm waters.
Nick M : is this compatible with the cressi travelight bcd?CHRISTOPHER K : I do not own a Cressi but I am fairly sure that you will fine. I have installed inflators in several different brands of BCD's and the hose diameter from the inflator to the jacket has always been standard. However, you will have to get a different low pressure hose to go to your regulator. The quick connect is a different size. You may be able to contact the factory rep's on their websites or scubaboard if you need verification.RICHARD E : I would think so, it's more about the length of the low pressure hose. If your bcd dumps air by pulling down (quick dumps) make sure your low pressure hose is long enough. You can always dump air with the exhaust button. Otherwise the Air XS2 simply replaces the auto or manual inflator and provides a backup regulator. I really like mine it breathes nice, I use it occasionally as a primary just to keep confidence in it.YAN G : No, it is not. There is no integrated Octo we can recommend for the Cressi BC's due to a non-standard corrugated hose connection.
Stephen L : My Dacor BCD appears to have a 7/8" hose. Will it fit this regulator?B C : Being that Dacor is long discontinued. I cannot verify it will.

Replacement

Replacement for my oceanic BC l. The lower that I’ve had for five or six years failed from cortos and could not be repaired.

Nice and Compact

I like less clutter and this helps achieve it. One note, I bought the lower assembly only. It did come with a MyFlex style hose that was way too long. I had to but an inflator hose the correct length, pretty much wiping out the savings I got from buying the lower part. It also didn't fit quite as nicely on the end of the BC tube. I would recommend buying the whole assembly for the length you want.

Nice Convenient Regulator

This is a great choice if you want to eliminate unnecessary hoses. Unfortunately, when I upgraded to the Oceanic Excursion 2 there were some compatibility issues in terms of the fitting that attaches into the corrugated hose not being long enough. So the lesson learned is make sure you ask questions prior to purchasing this item.

Good backup air source

Works well but little hard to breathe. Considering its a replacement for the Octo, I think that's okay. Different size LP hose from what I had and little awkward (for me) for adding or dumping air. Takes some getting used to but I would do it again and I would recommend it.

Does the job

"Ask the Pro" says this will fit a Cressi but I had to reposition and play with the tie wrap a few times to get it where it would not leak. Functional but not comfortable to use but then again, it's there as a back up, not a primary. One less hose!

Works well

The unit works well, but there is a configeration problem to some BCD's. I had to adapt a scuba-pro hose to my Zeagle to get it to work.

The Oceanic Air XS 2 Regulator/Inflator replaces the conventional BC power inflator and second stage octopus by combining the functions of both into a single unit. When you're taught how to dive you are given practice in buoyancy control more than any other skill. Once you start to dive, every time you go underwater, fin the reef, or surface you use buoyancy control. All this time your octopus second stage regulator hangs unused and out of mind. When a real life out-of-air emergency occurs and the stress and anxiety mounts, you find yourself fumbling for a piece of equipment you never use, the octopus! Combining your inflator device (that you use on every dive) with your octopus regulator assures your ability to react properly when an out-of-air emergency occurs. Be a safe diver with the Oceanic Air XS 2 Breathable Inflator.

The Oceanic Air XS 2 Regulator/Inflator incorporates a reliable downstream demand valve regulator function for ease of breathing, Low maintenance and durability. The large purge cover makes clearing water from the second stage fast and easy, regardless of the emergency and the orthodontic silicone mouthpiece provides comfort. The high flow quick-disconnect hose assures ample air delivery and inflation to the Air XS 2. To protect the inflator QD coupling the unit is equipped with a protective cap when not connected to the inflator hose. Inflator devise has a large easy to locate power inflator button and a smaller oral inflation button to manually inflator or deflate the BCD. The Air XS 2 comes with a 16 (40.6 cm) length quick-disconnect hose. The Air XS 2 weighs 7.9 oz. (224 g) with a 3.9" (10 cm) diameter making it a lightweight and compact unit that lowers drag and reduces your profile in the water. The Air XS 2 has a sturdy techno-polymer housing with durable chrome plated brass internal mechanism components, silicone diaphragm, exhaust valve and poppet seat. It can be used with air or Nitrox mixtures up to 40% out-of-the-box. The Air XS 2 comes with an owner's guide.
