NRS Public Safety Boat Bag for Rafts, IKs and Cats IK

I don't typically write reviews but can't help myself with this boat bag. The heavy duty canvas bag (made by another raft manufacturer was wearing out after protecting my 16' Avon Pro for 25 years (better to have wear and tear on the bag than the raft!). The new bag was waiting for me when I returned from the Salmon in late September. Cleaned the boat, rolled it up and easily put the boat in the bag thanks to the great design. Love the oversized straps to cinch it up and the ventilated side panels. I purchased the XL bag and there was some room to spare to I put a couple of straps around the bag (side-to-side and front-to-back) and snugged it up. Perfect! The bag with my raft inside are now sitting on my trailer anxious to get out again. Perhaps an October Salmon trip?

Get a larger size than suggested for easier packing g. I have a M for hyside mini max (10.5') and wish I had gotten large.

The NRS boat bag is great. I use it to store and carry a Star Slice. I have an extra large bag and the Slice goes right in and the bag closes easily. I put it in my basement and it's ready for the next trip down the river.

Great boat sac. Put my 14 footer in there. Got the XL for the extra space. Makes it easy to get in there but there is excess so I wrap it with a couple straps. Dig drag it for about 10 feet over some asphalt and it burned a small hole through the bag. Didnt hurt the boat. I taped it. It's fine. Wont do that again. It was dumb

I've had one bag two years and one bag one year. Probably 4-6 trips taken with each bag. So far holding up well with no signs of wear. I'm not slinging them across the lake. I'm usually careful about how I carry them because I don't want to damage my boat. But I do pack them in the back of the truck and pile stuff on top then go 4-wheeling with everything bouncing around in the back. Sturdy bags.

I have a 12' Otter and a 14' Hyside and store both of them in the winter in NRS boat bags. I put dryer sheets in the boat as I fold it and around the boat on the inside of the bag, and keep the bag off the floor on a pallet. This helps mouse proof it. I use a cam strap on the outside as well and the bags are helpful when wrestling the boats out of the barn and in a pickup or trailer. The bag just helps protect the boats.

A bit roomy to be my new wet bag for just paddling gear but easy to carry w the pack straps. My pack raft, paddle, PFD, throw bag and day drybag, water bottle all fit easily and I can ride or carry to any put- in. Dries quickly and seems week made.

It took me years to realize I should bring this bag down the river with the raft. This bag doubles as a great gear bag for all the loose dry bags, canopies, chairs etc. We even strap out 2.5 hp outboard down sideways on top using the heavy duty carrying straps.

FWIW my tandem Aire Tributary IK fits in this easily with room for a k-pump. I can strap 2 collapsable NRS paddles on top and hike this in to wherever with the backpack straps. It's great. I always take my IK home and clean it out and roll it up after it dried in the sun for a few hours, so it rolls down tiny... no promises if you're trying to fit it n the bag at the take out on a cold day.

Ordered the XL for my 16' Kaboat. Shipping box looked way too small. Opened it up and turns out the XL size is more like a body bag large enough to fit the Michelin Man.
