Well made knife with nice features. I especially like the "protected" hook style strap cutter. In an emergency being able to cut through a strap and not damage an inflatable is a great thing. One might still need that inflatable to get out! This is a well designed knife with serrated blade, strap cutter and bright color. Also, it has that handy bottle opener for after the trip.

Super sharp. The rope cutting hook is sharp! The pocket clip is the strongest I've ever seen. It won't come out of your pocket if you happen to flip, not that I'm saying any of us will . . . haha! I took the suggestion and switched the clip to the other side since I'm left-handed.

I used to have my river knife attached to my pfd externally, and it would get in the way or fall out in to the river. I keep this one in my pfd pocket. Maybe a few seconds longer to get to, but in practical use it is safer for me as the rescuer.

I'm not a fan of folders on the water anyway, but I sure wouldn't want to try opening this tool one-handed in a river crisis. Poor thumb leverage and stiff mechanism. OTOH once it's open sits nice in the hand and works well. Good choice for the truck.

The folding, lock-blade NRS Captain Rescue Knife is a great choice for guides and swift water rescue professionals. The Knife features a rope cutting hook at the tip and a quick-slicing serrated edge. Unique design includes an efficient shroud cutter style rope-cutting hook at the knife's blunt tip. A skilled hand can safely slip the hook under a rope pinned to a person's body. Super sharp serrated edge easily slices through rope and webbing. Folding blade opens with one hand and locks in place for security. A spring metal clip keeps the knife where you want it, or you can remove the clip for a sleeker profile. Reversible stainless clip attaches to lash tab and lets right and left hander operate it smoothly. When removing the clip and reinstalling it on the other side of the sheath, NRS recommend applying Loctite or other thread locker to the screws to prevent loosening.
The knives blunt tip also serves as a slot screwdriver. Lanyard hole lets you conveniently tether the knife to prevent loss. The handy bottle opener will hopefully be the feature you use most. The knife blade is manufactured from 420-HC stainless steel with the handle material being a glass-reinforced polypropylene with TRP over mold for a sure grip. The knife has a total length of 7.5" (19cm), with a blade length of 3" (7.6cm) and the knife weighs 2.8oz (79.4g).
