I used this on a swift water rescue training exercise. Only problem was I had to attach the Pilot Knife with zip ties.

Nobody should complain that it is difficult to reach or twist for moves in a vest of this sort -- there is a price to pay for high flotation. If you need to float like a cork, it's hard to argue with the slabs of foam in this vest, but design details are weak. Zippers on the pockets are pulled taut when the vest is cinched down, making it hard to get even one finger into the pocket. The nylon is sewn pillowcase style on the bottom, with the bottom strap on the seam, so the strap does not tighten against the body. Personally, I think moving some of the foam to the rear and extending it lower would make it a much better paddling and swimming vest, but if you are a backrest person you might disagree.

This PFT is bulky and can make it hard to get back into an inflatable or raft. Flotation is excellent though. I did swim on CLIV rapid with it and found it quite protective of the clavicles and upper body. It prevented injury due to its bulk.

Very comfortable PFD. Does not limit mobility in water and does not ride up when adjusted properly. Lots of space to add the needed extras like knife, whistle, gloves, etc.

The Extrasport Universal Rescuer is a full-featured Personal Floatation Device (PFD) that's built tough for the tough-jobs that need to be done. This PFD provides 22 lbs. (10k g) of flotation, and is a US Coast Guard Approved Type V Device. This PFD is equipped with a rescue belt, four lash tabs with 3 in front and 1 on back, two zippered pockets with pull tabs and reflective tape on front and back for easy identification in low light conditions. Swift Water Type V PFDs are Coast Guard Approved (USCGA) for rescue use. Activities in which they are used are inherently dangerous and life threatening. No life vest alone prevents injury or death.
The PFD's quick release buckle and rescuer's harness have been approved by the US Coast Guard. Shoulders are webbing reinforced for added security. Four buckle front closure with 3 equipped with squeeze-style" side-release buckles and 11 adjustment points give a good fit and keep this PFD in place. The fourth buckle closure is a cam latch style buckle with ball pull cord release. The PFD is durably constructed with a 500 denier Cordura outside that provides superior abrasion resistance, and two extra heavy duty pockets with internal D-rings and lash tabs keep your rescue accessories where you want them. The PVC-free Gaia foam is environmentally friendly, conforms well to your shape and gives you 22 lbs. (10 kg) of flotation. The Extrasport Universal Rescuer PFD has a universal chest size 30" to 56" (76 cm to 142 cm) and is available in multiple colors.
