M.I.T. Auto Inflating PFD

This is my 2nd purchase of the Mustang self-inflating PFD. I bought one 4 years ago hoping it would be so comfortable as far as life preservers go, that I would wear it more often. I was correct and find myself wearing it when traffic is heavy and restricted, when weather sneaks up, when fishing alone, or in unfamiliar waters. I even forgot it was on while being checked by wardens on some unfamiliar and narrow river fishing, until the warden thanked me for wearing it. I had to look down to see, indeed I was wearing it! So with this 2nd purchase, I bought two camo models, one more for my boat and one for my best bud also retired. It'll also be used in my canoe when duck hunting. Additionally I am going to start carrying it along on other people's boats when I join them, because I find IF they have adequate life jackets on board they may not be as comfortable...or even fit! That has really happened to me as the life jacket was for small adults or children.

This PFD is U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) approved as a Type III Personal Flotation Device, ideal for fishing, sailing, paddle sports, and industrial marine applications. Note that it's not intended for high impact, high-speed activities like water skiing.

The M.I.T. 100 ensures rapid inflation in an emergency with its replaceable 24g CO2 cylinder. Pull the conspicuous yellow tab, and the PFD fully inflates within 5 seconds, providing 26 lbs. of buoyancy-more than 1.5 times the buoyancy of most foam PFDs. In an auto-activation mode, it inflates within 10 seconds upon water immersion. The PFD can also be orally inflated for non-emergency situations, with an inflator inspection window and access flap for added safety and convenience.

Constructed with a resilient 500-denier Cordura outer shell and a strong 2" polypropylene waist strap and harness, the M.I.T. 100 is a robust PFD designed to last. The waist strap features a quick-release buckle for the perfect fit. Moreover, with its 1-fold repack design, it's effortless to stow away. Designed for individuals with chest sizes between 30" and 52", weighing 80 lbs or more, it comes equipped with high visibility reflective tape and a safety whistle for additional safety during emergencies.
