There is no elastic waistband; it comes with a drawstring which is needed because the fine fabric is so lightweight. It is also the MOST comfortable base layer I have. I wear it under my 3mm wetsuit when diving warm water. There is no liner. If you need or want a liner, a Speedo will do just fine, especially if you intend to wear it as a standalone. It is true to size; I wear a Medium and I got a Medium (170 lbs.). Too large and it might look baggy. Wash and rinse after use and it dries quickly. I also like to wear it topside and apres dive - yeah, it's that comfortable and looks great!MICHAEL R : Hello May, no, these shorts don't have a liner, just a drawstring to tie them.

Check your size

This item tends to run a bit small for me. I normally use a Large in other brands but had to get an XL to fit comfortably. Also the string tie is too short I replaced mine with a longer tie. This product is well made and I've used it without any issues in tropical waters and pools.

Poor waist tightening

Purchased “M”as an extra set. Like my other shorts better because of how then can be tightened at the waist. And, others fit better in the crotch.

A great short !

Just used on 7 day Liveaboard in Exumas. Super comfortable, good design, dried quickly and felt like it wasn't there.....which gave a couple of moments of panic on a Liveaboard dive deck !

Good product, run large

I ordered these size Large based on the size chart. This seemed right based on what size I typically wear. When I got them, they were too big. The next size down would probably have worked, but they were not available from Leisure Pro in size Medium. It's too bad because the shorts looked great, were well made, and the fabric looked to be comfortable and good quality. I would have liked to get them if they had my size. I'm giving 3 stars because the size chart is not accurate.

A little too thin a material

The material seems very thin. Not sure it will last long before skin shows through. Also the picture appeared to have a white panel in the shorts and it turns out to be grey. They fit larger than expected. If I had known I would have bought the next smaller size.
