The battery that came with my dive computer has a 2600 mAh rating, the battery pictured has 2100 mAh rating.HARRY A : It appears this battery is rated at 2100 mAh. Any mAh rating will work, the higher the mAh the longer the battery will last before it needs recharging.David R : It tells you how much current the battery can supply for 1 hour. The higher the number, the more energy the battery has. The Mares came with 2600 mAh...the replacement should also be rated for 2600 mAh. The number also means that the 2600 mAh rated battery can provide 1300 mA for 2 hours. The ratio just has to be the same.Andrew F : This replacement battery is indeed labeled as 2100mAh, although I haven't tested it to see what the amperage truly is. It works fine in the Mares Icon though.Erik F : Not sure what the rating is, but I've had this battery in my icon hd for a little over a year now and i can easily put 10 fives on a weekend on it without any issues.

justin c : does it come with the tool to open battery compartment? or which tool should be used for that?Cary M : Take the computer to a dive shop and get the Tech to replace the battery. By doing this the computer is still under warranty and the tech has the right tool to do the job. If you do it yourself, you might damage the computer and then the warranty is void. Where I took my computer, the tech replaced it for free.Andrew F : Nope. You can make a tool by driving 2 correctly-sized nails through a small block of wood, I'm going to grind down a small piece of spring steel to be the correct size so I can take the spare battery on trips and have a tool to change it out with. I suspect that a C-clip tool would also work.Cary M : No it doesn't come with a special tool...Once you receive the battery, take it and the computer to your favourite dive shop technical guy...he/she will have the proper tool to remove /install the batter. By doing this your computer will still be under warrantee and it won't be damaged.JEFF B : No it does not come with the tool I just used pointed noise pliers I always have with my dive kitKENDALL K : It did not come with a specific wrench for that so you might ask Mares. I ended up using a small tip needle nose pliers I had in my scuba tool kit and was able to remove without damaging the plastic. Put a little O ring lube on it when I reinstalled. Was an easy repair and I will likely replace this battery annually from now on.

Give your computer more life

I like my computer and didn?t want to upgrade just yet. Replacement battery is an inexpensive way to extend your computers life. Videos on YouTube on how to replace the battery were very useful. Straight forward process. So far so good; no immediate drain of the computer battery when entering cold water.

Everyone with a Mares Icon should have a backup

Mares Icon is a great computer. It has been discontinued. If you have one, I suggest a backup

Perfect match

This battery is a perfect replacement for the Mares Icon. It is an easy task. Just be careful when pulling the connector on the old battery AND make sure to note which way the red & black wires are oriented. I imagine that it only fits one way but if you started pushing it in in the wrong orientation it might jam and be hard to get back out.

Careful - it has a shelf life

If you maintain your own equipment and replace the battery in your dive computer, go ahead and buy this battery. However do not order it too much in advance because it does have a shelf life. I don't know exactly what it is but if you leave it in your bag or box for a certain period of time without using it, it will die on you. So don't buy this and "keep it stock just in case" because when that moment comes when you have to replace the battery, chances are it will be dead. Last but not least, be very careful when disconnecting / reconnecting the battery. The connector inside the Icon HD Computer is very small and very easy to damage.

You just set up your equipment for the first dive of your vacation in Saint Somewhere, you start to test the function of your Mares Icon HD Computer Low Battery Icon comes on. The worst thing that can happen on a tropical vacation has just happen No dive computer. Don't leave on a vacation without spare batteries why ruin a great holiday because of a few dollars in batteries. Always pack some spares. The Mares Icon HD Computer uses a Rechargeable 3.6Volt Lithium-Ion 2100mAh Battery, so it may be necessary to replace it after approximately 500 charging cycles. The Battery will provide power for approximately 6 dives (estimated 45 minutes each). If you want to be fully-equipped with a spare-battery to quick-swap when doing multiple dive days and on a live-aboard or just have a spare for your save-a-dive kit this is what you are looking for.
