After reading several reviews I've decided to make my own for those of you that are newer to Diving. This is a more advanced gun. Shooting smaller prey this gun isn't needed, nor would I recommend, this is a large gun for large prey! Due to a closed muzzle you must be AT LEAST the length of your shaft to your target if not longer if you wish to keep your shaft in good condition and not bent, or destroy the front end of this gun. Below I've bullet listed some pro's and Cons of this purchase for those who don't want to read a novel. Pro(S) -Accurate -Powerful -Out of the box great price for what it is. Con(S) -Closed muzzle -Butt Stock easy to lose if your float line free diving, I lost mine after the first fish. Regarding others negative comments, people listed hard to use; well it's 5'-8" long it's a large gun, your going for large fish, not beginner fish. If your finding it hard to load it's possibly your technique not the gun! Some say this gun is bulky, well big fish take bigger guns! For those of you that are looking for a 'quiet' gun get a Pneumatic gun they are quiet and fast to reload. a long range gun like this can and does require more than one(1) wrap of your shooting line. With a few easy modifications this gun is a steal!

The spear gun design that started it all, the JBL Magnum series of guns is probably responsible for more speared fish than all other spear guns combined. It's no wonder; as this durable and accurate workhorse features a 1 1/4" (3.2 cm) drawn alloy barrel, corrosion resistant hardened stainless steel trigger, shaft and point. The JBL756S shaft is made from 17-4 spring stainless for durability and long life shaft is 56" (142.2 cm) in length with a 3/8" (9.5mm) diameter. The Handles are constructed of two-piece cast aluminum providing strength and ease of maintenance. The Guns overall length is 68" (172.7 cm).
The Magnum 450 features three 30" x 9/16" (762mm x 14mm) Hi-Mod JBL230 bands with 302 stainless wire wishbones. Tried and trusted, this is one hunting buddy you'll be glad to share a secret spot with. These guns are most suitable for spear fishing among reefs and rocks where heavy penetration is needed. The Magnum 450 is designed for long range and heavy penetration where range is important and heavy penetration is required. The combination of shaft length and the 9" (23 cm) long butt extension make the gun easier to load.
The JBL823 tip is designed for large powerful fish. JBL's breakaway point has 4"(10.2 cm) wings and 3" (7.6 cm) slip-tip configuration. The Tip is hardened 17-4 stainless and features a multi-braid stainless cable in 1/16" (2mm) diameter. These tips hang on no matter how hard the fight while minimizing damage to your spear shaft. Their low-profile, double barbed design allows for pinpoint accuracy and dependable deployment. Don't trust a once in a lifetime fish to anything else. The Gun is equipped with the JBL518 Shock Line. Sometimes we miss or we shoot a large fish and the recoil can pull the gun out of your grip, whichever the shock line will keep you in control. The Guns range is 27' (8.23 meters). The Gun is positively buoyant and is totally made in the USA.
