I?ve had a few ikelite systems in the past and I?m happy with the changes that were made to this model of the dome ? the dry lock / hand screws are easy and convenient to use to attach the dome securely to the port. (My older ikelite systems required me to carry a screwdriver around with me everywhere to get the port and dome attached - which as you can imagine, was difficult when it came to air travel) My only small issue with this is that so far, the water beading up on this dome is worse than my older domes. It?s super gross, but I have to spit on it quite often while I?m out on location to keep it so the water doesn?t bead up on the top half of my frame when I?m doing split shots. I?m reading that you shouldn?t use anything like rain-x or any other chemicals since it could be abrasive to the dome material. (Acrylic, I believe?) anyway ? still working that part out - but otherwise it?s awesome!

The Ikelite DL 8" (203mm) diameter dome port is made of optical grade acrylic. Comparable image quality to glass yet several pounds lighter and easier to handle, especially at the surface of the water. External filters are not compatible with dome ports. Look for filters that attach to your lens prior to installation. Ikelite recommends Magic Filters (not sold by Ikelite). This port can be attached directly to housings featuring the Dry Lock (DL) port system or combined with DL extensions. The domes body is made from durable acetyl. The dome port measures (Dia. x H) 9.2" x 3.5" (234mm x 89mm) and weighs 2.2 lbs. (998 g). Easy to install design and comes complete with a dome shade, neoprene front and rear covers, set of 3 securing thumbscrews, 7/64" hex key, silicone lubricant 1cc tube and instruction manual.
