Questions & Answers

Mar G : What is the difference between this  Polyolefin material and the material from the standar/classic ones (Spandex)?Mario C : The Polyolefin suits have a liner built in, therefore are much warmer than a standard lycra,ALEXANDRA M : I'm not an expert, but this dive skin is much thicker than the regular spandex, thus offering a measure of some warmth.
KENDALL G : How thick is the material? I'm wondering if I can wear it under my newly bought 3mm Thermoprene Pro suit that fits me just right. I would love some added warmth without increasing buoyancy. Thermoprene Pro boasts 250% stretch so I'm thinking this would work well. Do you agree?Mario C : oops my bad. Just brought one to my desk to double check. and let me re answer your question. It is as thick as i mentioned before, and as an under layer may increase the warmth rating of the 3mm yes without adding buoyancy. I say may as i have not tried it myself.. but the manufacturer does claim it will. Sorry for the misunderstanding.KENDALL G : I appreciate your thoughts but it's a bit confusing that the description does say that it adds warmth. I'm considering replacing my 1.5mm neoprene jumpsuit I use in warmer waters with this and then using it in cooler water under my 3mm wetsuit in say 73* water this March in the Florida Keys. I could just use my 5mm neoprene suit but I don't like the idea of having to dive with so much lead weight to get down.Mario C : i believe this would fit as it is slightly thicker than lycra but not much. What it wont do is increase warmth,,, this is uv and environmental protection suit not for warmth,,, it may increase a little... but not made for that...
MARY B : I wear a 10 in the Neosport wetsuit.  What size for Henderson Polyolefin jumbsuit?KIM S : I wore a small and usually wear a 10. I was surprised and thought a bigger size would be better. But bigger was bit baggy and long. Good luck. Maybe get both return one?SUSAN A : I wear a size 12, and a medium fits perfectly. That's all I can advise. But I think you will love this suit...the French terry is so comfortable, no more neoprene against skin.
Shopper : I am a 5’11 and 150lbs. What size would I wear?DONALD P : I cannot recommend this product in any size. The quality is very poor and the seams come apart quickly. From my experience Henderson would not warranty this suit even though it had been used only once. Not Recommended.HB R : I'm 5'11'' and 195 wear x-large. Maybe that helps.Tom D : im 5'10' 165 lbs and have size mediumCARRIE L : Personally I dont like anything super tight - I recommend xl. The suit streaches a wee bit that should give you ample room to get it on and off. I have three of these suits —- love love love them!!! Long lasting too - Im on my third year of use!!lawrence s : its a size too small and keeps on shrinking as it ages. I usually take a large but its more like a medium---very tight.
William L : I am 5ft 8in, 240 lbs, 46" chest, and 42" waste, what size would I need to order in this skin?HB R : I'm 5ft 11, 42inch waist, 215 and XL fits perfect. Recommend you start there.CARRIE L : I would say XL if you prefer things tight xxl if you prefer things looser. When they streach a lot the seams begin to show a lot of wear.lawrence s : bought a large which I normally wear but its a size too small.DONALD P : I would not recommend this suit. The seams are of very poor quality and immediately begin separating. I would suggest you consider a 2mm neoprene suit instead. Henderson does not stand behind this product.

Somewhat lacking.

THe shoulders (blue area) are spandex and provide no insulation.

Dive skin

I haven't used this yet, but I purchased it to afford me a bit more warmth. It's a very nice product. My trip was cancelled due to Covid, so I hope to inaugurate it in 2022.

Polartec replacement

I was very pleased with the fit. I hope to be able to test it out on a dive trip in 2021 or 2022! This was a replacement for my original Polartec, which is no longer manufactured. Always loved it because it was warm, but neutrally bouyant.

Polyolefin jump suit and akona booties

Jumpsuit is well made and true to size. Just enough warmth for outdoor unseated swimming pool in Hawaii. Have already recommended it to a friend. The booties are perfect for my fins.

Henderson jumpsuit

Very happy with it. The only reason i gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is because of the zipper. It should be 5or6 inches longer. If i could have given it 4.5 stars l wound have. Top quality.

Coming Apart at the Seams

I purchased the Henderson suit to replace a 10+ year old SSA suit that was worn out. I wore the Henderson on a one week trip to Cozumel and from the first day the seams began pulling apart in the crouch and wrists. I'm a slim guy and did not overstress or abuse this suit. Very disappointed with the poor quality and durability of the Henderson jumpsuit, and I wouldn't recommend Henderson. LP couldn't assist me as the suit is already used and I don't want a replacement from Henderson. So it's off to the thrift store for this nearly new suit. Perhaps a surfer can use it.

Love it, had to replace due to wt loss

I do a lot of diving (and some snorking when with non-diving friends) This skin not only makes it easier to don and doff your wetsuit: -but it adds a bit of warmth -protects you from the sun w/o sunscreen -protects you from stinging critters when snorkling I lost 70lbs and had to buy a new smaller one. Other that a bit of pilling, the old skin is still in good shape after 200 dives.

Best investment ever for first layer

This is much more durable and comfortable than a Lycra suit and will last ten times longer. I have had it three plus years and about 9 dive trips and still looks new. It only adds minimal warmth, but it makes donning a wet suit easier, or can be used as a stand alone, without adding weights or bulk. It is always in my dive bag.

Much better than a lycra suit

This far more durable and more comfortable than a lycra suit. I have had this for three years and gone on about 8 dive trips with hardly any signs of wear. Also it gives you added warmth without the added buoyancy. It is worth the extra money.

I have two of these to wear in layers

I have 2 of these in different sizes to use layered. I like them because they add at most a half pound of bouyancy. Using the layers I can adjust my insulation to the situation. By wearing them under a 3 mm neoprene plus a 3mm neoprene vest I am as warm as I would be in 7mm without the noxious bouyancy and added weigh. One thing I would note (and wish Henderson would change) the shoulder area is not polyeofin. It is thin lycra. I wish they would make the entire suit out of polyeofin.

An excellent product but watch sizing

I've used my First Henderson Polyolefin jumpsuit for almost two years and it's great for warmer water diving without the need for a 3mm wetsuit and requires less weight, as others have commented, and it equally excels as an undergarment when waters aren't so balmy. So that's why I ordered another one. My disappoint this time was the sizing. I ordered the same size as the one I now have, that fits great, only to find that the new suit, same size, is at least two inches shorter in the arms and legs and is uncomfortabe to try to put on. I don't know what happened to Henderson sizing or change in manufacturer, but my suggestion is to take the next larger size if you are near the uppper range of a size from the sizing chart. I didn't find out until I was on a dive trip.

Not 100% Polyolefin

I was disappointed to find that the shoulder and upper chest area (the blue section in the blue/black image) was spandex not Polyolefin. This is a high heat loss area. I ended up buying a 3 mm neoprene vest to make up for this deficiency. If I had it to do over I would buy the lavacore suit. It's twice the price but according to my LDS it offers way more warmth and is much more durable, and also has no buoyancy.

Great with one caveat

I have two of these. I live in an area where you need 7 mm of neoprene even in the summer. That requires a lot of lead (26# or more). By layering two of these suits under a 3 mm wetsuit I can be warm and cut the weight down to about 12-14#. The only complaint I have is that Henderson doesn't use Polyolefin throughout. The Shoulder area (blue) is lycra = no insulation. Nowhere does any description indicate this. To offset the lack of insulation in the shoulder area I added a 3 mm vest so a bit more weight. Still it's better than straight neoprene.
