Rarely see bubbles and didn't realize how nice it was for sound until I switched back to my old one (now backup) to compare and had bubbles going by both ears.

I have been diving this reg for a couple of years. Over 100 dives. Perfect under all conditions. I have a 2nd set of gear for backup or nostalgia over 20 years old. I still keep an original Omega I tuned and use it a few times a year. I got a top Apex set around 10 years ago and was constantly getting them repaired and they don't have standard fittings. Glad when I replaced them with the 500SE. The older version Omega I is a little wet and finicky but is still ok and has been all over the world. . I can't imagine anyone not being completely happy with the new Hollis DC7 500SE!

What a fantastic regulator. It is extremely light and breaths superbly. I was hesitant to replace my longstanding Poseidon Jetstream and Cyclone regulators with the DC7 500SE as these workhorses are known for their superb breathing rates at any depth. This reg is much better than the Poseidons. It is lighter an breathes easier. The side exhaust is perfect for bailout or sidemount. Highly recommend purchasing a couple of these.

I love hollis regulators. Very light weight, very reliable. Built like a tank, great for cold water or warm water. Never had a issue even down into the 30s.

I have used my new regulator for 6 dives so far. Easy breather and I had much better bottom time than before. It allows me to easily breath the right amount of air. The side exhaust kept the bubbles out of my face. I do a lot of photography and it is a definite plus. I read about complaints of free flowing. I had not had any free flow problems. Those with it were not using the regulator properly.

Took delivery before my August dive trip to Cozumel. Whistled underwater, breathed not so well, NO freeflow, difficult to purge. Found out it is NOT field serviceable. LP said send it back on my return. Took to local Oceanic dealer who said a spring was missing and charged me $10 to adjust, certainly easier than a return to LP. Breathes very well now, very dry, but it is heavier than my Omega 2. Kind of a hassle, though--missing spring? The one up next to the purge? NOT cool.

I have mine paired with a Hollis 500SE second stage and the combo is really an easy breathing regulator that works the same at 100 feet as it does at 10. I especially like that the HP ports can be pointed "up" at an angle, which seems to make for a better transmitter connection. It's a sealed diaphragm, making cleaning easier and the IP locks at 135 without any creep, just as you'd expect.

This is a great reg and it's very durable, it is however rather heavy so make sure your mouth piece fits you really well. The side vent is especially handy for photography but can be a tad annoying if you are putting the vent directly under your head while exhaling. The purge button is also not in the traditional location (eg on the front). It's the grill next to the exhaust piece. If you can get used to that new location everything should be fine.

Does not get any better for reliability or performance.

Nice compact first stage reg. No issues while ice diving in 32 degree waters. Love it.

old school, new tech really does say it all! This is the same basic platform as the tried and true original oceanic omega regulator, but beefed up and infused with new technology, not even a hint of a wet breather anymore. very few moving parts means its almost fail proof. after 20 years I still dive with my oceanic omega 1 as a back up to my new 500se, if that says anything about their quality! it truly is an effortless breather at any depth and any angle of diver position! if you sip air, it will sip air with you and if you are working against a heavy current it can deliver as much air as fast as you can breathe it!

great design, i am working on dive master, and took the photo courses in the great lakes. this rag set is old school so when taking pictures, the bubbles go out the side and not in front of your face. the hose is awesome and very flexible, the mouth piece is superb, no fatigue what so ever, i would recommend this to anyone.

ease of breathing like with my old apex xtx 200 but with the side exhaust, great for camera use!

Brother, if you want the finest breathing regulator on the planet - this IS it! This ain't you uncle Joe's Cobra or Possiden, this is everything they wanted to be and so much more. When breathing it seems there is about a .0000000001 delay while the regulator is thinking, "What does this guy need RIGHT NOW?" and it gives it to you! It is DIN but is Yoke adaptable and beautiful in it's looks and theory. Some have tired it and said, it free-flows too eaisly but that's only if you don't understand the reg or in fact diving science. The second stage Diaphragm is left of the mouthpiece so, when starting your dive if it gets in the water before the mouthpiece it's going to free-flow like a large, angry Cobra. Just invert the reg when putting it in the water and NO FREE FLOW! My top-of-the-line Scubapro has been handed down to my better half and I've been diving Scubapro for over 30 years. Hollis has created a monster here!

The Hollis Gear DC7 Regulator incorporates a high-performance over-balanced diaphragm first stage that provides progressively greater intermediate pressure as depth and gas density increases for superior gas delivery under the most extreme conditions. This regulator system is designed to withstand the rigorous CE standard for cold-water performance. The balanced diaphragm, first stage regulator is inherently environmentally sealed. The benefit of this type of first stage design is that none of the delicate internal parts are exposed to contaminants such as salt, sand, chlorine or pool acids. These environmental contaminants can cause corrosion and mineral deposits to form on the internal mechanism deteriorating regulator performance. A diaphragm first stage regulator requires less maintenance then regulators that allow the contaminates to enter the internal mechanism.
In addition the DC7 First Stage Regulator has a secondary diaphragm to completely seal off the main spring cavity. A sealed balanced diaphragm design; isolate the main spring cavities internal components from the environment. It also means the DC7 is excellent for ice diving (it won't freeze up) or diving in waters filled with contaminants or sediment (it won't corrode). This DIN 300 bar (4350psi) first stage regulator is manufactured from marine grade brass with a black anodized finish and has 4-low-pressure (LP) 3/8" threaded fixed ports and 2-high-pressure (HP) 7/16" threaded ports. The fixed hose routing is ideal for both back mount and side-mount configuration. The regulator is Nitrox compatible to 40% out-of-the-box.
