Never knew I needed a watch till I got this one. I love it to death. I got it mostly for biking as it's a new hobby, it makes me push myself daily to get everything out of it. Keeps my steps and my heart rate and is tough as nails. I work in industrial maintenance, and wear it 24/7. Very happy with my purchase

Health Data Analysis The Garmin Instinct is a Sport Watch, Not a Health Watch. All the pretty charts have only full-scale range. So night time data is all wrong: 1. Nighttime Steps do not show on the charts or the calculation of awake times because the fixed range is based on exercise goals; 2. The REM sleep identifies a combination of light sleep and heart rate that seems to also pick up short deep sleep after an awake - walking period; 3. Stress picks up some nighttime events, but also has no range adjustment to make them visible; 4. O2 is also not believable overnight because I should be dead or in deep concern with 75% at sea level. The Body Battery has more health data than anything else, but again, it can't be range adjusted to see vital events clearer. GPS setup is challenging In fact, I can't figure it out? I can push the GPS button - visible only in daylight or flashlight - and I can enter the GPS location, but navigation is way above my comprehension. In fact, the watch tracked me for the first 3 days, and that was really neat: I could zoom in and see great granularity in the recorded path - on the watch face. But then it stopped, and I haven't found how to restart it. I tried reading the manual, online, because the manual is in micro-text. But Track Me didn't track me. What is missing is a plasticized chart showing the options of each switch and how they interact - I just haven't found time to make one myself. Still I wear it cause it's very attractive and rugged, and my wife gave it to me as a 75th birthday gift, but I often wear my health watch on the other wrist.

I've had this watch for a month and I am impressed by all of the features that it has. After charging it initially I haven't had to charge it again. I do work outside and it has held up well so far. Would definitely recommend.

Watch has a lot of features that other smart watches don't. Battery lasts a long time and only takes a hour or so to charge if almost fully depleted. When fully charged mine says 12 days battery life. I generally charge the watch once per week when it's at half power and it only takes half an hour or so to charge. Tracks a lot of health statistics and garmin connect app is customizable to make it easy to check steps, heart rate, or many other health related info. Solar charging helps keep battery charged and it's definitely waterproof. I tried the GPS tracking briefly and it seems to work well. I plan to use this on my next mushroom hunting trip. There are still many features I haven't tried yet but overall I'm happy with it. Only criticism I have is instructions that come with the watch aren't very detailed. Fortunately You Tube seems to have plenty of how to videos if you run into something you can't figure out on your own.

This watch is probably the best of both worlds for garmin. It's more affordable but still has lots of features. It does have the increased battery life which makes the gps feature more usable. It has a learning curve but once you get into the features there is so much it can do for you. A great watch for any outdoor adventure. And also I like the style and all the band options. Changing the band can almost make it a whole new watch.

Only downside is somewhat complicated to understand all features and how to seamlessly get to them/change them. The operators manual is 68 pages long. Also the charge life is just under a week. DO NOT LOSE YOUR GARMIN CHARGE CABLE!

I wanted this watch for monitoring my heart rate while I am riding my bicycle. For that purpose, it works great. I will look at my sleeping habit from time to time as well. There are many other functions I guess which I have not used yet but I am sure they are useful for some people.

I won this watch and I have loved it! I use it for biking and skiing and love that it connects right to Strava! It has great GPS features and altimeter! . As a person who frequently forgets to charge things I love the solar charge feature!

I have had this watch for over a yr and generally love it. Having said that, I have found the charging capability sadly lacking usefulness. Labor day weekend I set it outside to specifically test the solar charging capability. After two hrs of being in the sun there was little to no change in battery charge. Seems like the only function of the "solar" part is the graph that allegedly monitors intensity. Not sure if the Instinct 2 model does the same.

I have had this style of watch for over a year and I was able to break the watch face on my original watch. I contacted customer support and for a small fee I was able to get a new watch which I feel is way better than my old one in terms of battery life. Both still durable and they function the same but I like this new one just a little bit more.

In fact, lots more features than I'll ever use. Mostly loving the Solar charging because the charge will last for days and days, if you don't connect to your phone. Mostly use the health features, I'm still learning the many others. Also still playing with the gps.

I had an Instinct before, but decided to upgrade to the solar tactical. I was a 1SG in the TN State Guard and this watch was helpful in aiding the training of my soldiers.

This watch is great and easy to use, unfortunately I'm on my third one. This watch keeps malfunctioning, it's inconvenient to send back because it's turning off all by itself

As far as the watch being greatest - no But the solar charging does not meet up to any standards by any means. I had the watch laying in direct sunlight from 8 am until 4 pm and it charged only for a day and half. I have another companies type watch and along with the Garmin being next to the other companies watch was fully charged. I even had many features active. Yes, the Garmin has great features, but the charging is very poor.
