Questions & Answers

Shopper : People report water upon inhalation!!! Really? Where would that be from in a sealed system.DAVID H : I had a similar problem with an older OZ model and with the GRr450 model. i replaced the OZ with the GR450 then found out that it just needed a transition pressure adjustment (what ever that was). Only took about ten minutes. So I had it done on both regs and now I have two Genesis reg set ups that work great. BTW did I mention that the OZ is over 14 years old. Cant beet them for the price. I only dive recreational depths and nothing colder then 60 degrees. I average 100+ dives a year.DAN W : 50+ dives on mine and never any leakage whatsoever. The only water that got in was self induced from trying to moisten my mouth. Excellent regADAM C : I have been using a GS2000 for 16 years and I have never had this problem. In my opinion this reg is one of the best - if not THE best - on the market in it's price range. I just bought a new one as my old Yukon finally gave out. I use these regs for diving at an aquarium in Connecticut and for the frequent shallow dives, rinse and repeat again and again, they work great; a real workhorse.VALERIY L : My wife and I have been using these regulators for 3 years, logged about 160 dives together but we've never noticed this issueEDWARD S : Been using it on a avg. of 8 dives a year both fresh/cold water and warm salt. Have had zero issues
Shopper : Is the first stage a balanced piston?MARSHALL B : Yes and very very wet. Easy to suck in water with inhalation, so beware.
ERIC F : What is the maximum depth at which it can be used? In the Blue Hole (Belize) I expect to go to 175 feet.MARSHALL B : Not really sure. One thing I do know is that it is very wet when you breath through it. I would not use it. I tried to return it but they would not except it due to it had been 6 months. Don't figure I only used it one time.HOPE L : I've only been 140 ft with it and it worked fine. I found it to be harder to suck in the air with but once I got use to the amount of pressure needed it was fine. Hope you are using nitro at that depth. I didn't use mine with nitro, just regular air. Using nitro might help since it's a lighter gas.
W S : When diving with GS2000, and looking forward heads up, inhaled air is damp. With head down looking at my fins, water is coming through inhaled air--can hear water flowing going by diaphragm- what should I do?YAN G : I would bring it to an authorized service technician first to make sure there is nothing wrong. Some regs do breathe wet in certain positions.
Keilah M : Can I hook my Dive Computer transmitter into this device?CURTIS J : I use a hose connected dive computer. Assuming the transmitter can connect to a standard port, you should be ok. I having been using the GS2000 for several years and it is reliable for the recreational diver.ALISON W P : Yes. I've been using mine with a wireless transmitter.JOHN B : Yes you canRYAN S : Yes you can. Just take one of the hookup bolts out and screw the transmitter inCLIFF H : I believe so

Extremely reliable and durable regulator

I've had my GS2000 for 17 years and only replaced the second stage about two years ago when the purge cover cracked. The first stage is still the original. I used to use this as my main reg when I first got back int diving in 2000 and still use it as my backup or pony reg. It still breathes so smoothly and evenly and is a pleasure to dive with. Great reg!

Genesis GS 2000 Regulator

I have owned this regulator for 16 years and only purchased this new one when the purge cover cracked. Didn't want to lose any dive time while having it repaired. Love the dry first stage and the ability to perfectly regulate the flow to the second stage to meet my needs on any given dive.

Great Reg.

Wife and I have had these 6 years, 100+ dives and have never had a problem. 57 - 80 degree water and deepest depth is 147' . They breathe easy and consistently except when you're on your back. I highly recommend a softer and more flexible hose though. After 5 dives a day for a week jaw fatigue sets in due to the hard hose and trying to look at everything. Otherwise this is a great problem free reg.

Best reg I've owned in 12 years!

I have owned my GS2000 since 2001 (same reg as I just bought). I dove countless wrecks and have been diving the exhibits of Mystic Aquarium (Connecticut) for the past 3 years with this reg. I love it - it actually breathes better than my Aqualung Legend which cost twice as much. After 12 years and over 400 dives, the outer membrane of the purge valve tore and, though it still works, I figured it's time for a new one. Great reg though.

Nice reg for the money

Nice reg for the money, I like the adjustor however this reg does tend to free-flow easily which was a little annoying. Mouth piece is way too small for me and upgraded to a "seacure" mouldable mouth piece which was an awesome purchase, just came back from Sipadan after 16+ dive no jaw fatigue with "seacure"

Genesis GS 2000

Excellent reg for the money however I found the mouth piece way too small and created a lot of jaw fatigue, have now replaced this with the secure hi flow mouth piece 11 fits really well but have not used as yet. Genesis reg is prone to free flow.

Good for the price

Does Free Flow until you figure out how to get it dialed in just right, very nice flow, very easy to set up, really like the surface dive switch. Now that I have it adjusted it seems perfect.

Easy breathing

Really makes diving a pleasure. My dive time has been improved because of better breathing and it is easy to hold in your mouth.

Great Regulator!

I've used this regulator only 3 times, but it works great! When I was at depth the first time, it started to free flow but that was easily fixed with the adjustable knob.

Great bang for the buck!

This is an excellent regulator that can be used in all conditions. It can free flow at times on the surface but this is no big deal and is easily controlled. It also functions well at low depths and breathes easily. Best reg I have used so far!

Except for the free flow it was great

I got this as part of a package. The reviews made it seem like a good value. My friend and I both bought the same regualtor for a trip to Cozumel. We're both rather new and had been using rental equipment. The rental stuff at times was not that good so we decided to make the plunge. We both had a little problem with the free flow on the surface. The switch, + and - is not intuitive. We both require reading glasses and the little symbols are hard to read. I tried pushing the switch to both settings hile on the surface but did not notice any change. I had a free flow on my first dive but it didn't happen again. My friend got afree flow at the end of 2 dives. Not a big deal, just an annoyance. We both found the regs easy to use. As a new reg owner I would have liked to have some instruction on assembly, how much to tighten the connections, etc.

Great regulator!

Just finished a one week trip in Bonaire and used my Genesis GS2000 for the first time....I've been diving for over 30 years and this is a GREAT little regulator; super performance and easy breathing down to 137 ft. The diver adjustable parts on the second stage are easy to use. Great regulator, esp for the price. I highly recommend it!!

I would buy this prouct again.

Compact. Had looked at less expensive regulators but, the brand name and features, sold me. Great product for the price. Once again, the pro's at leisure did a fantastic job on putting together my gear. Thanks Yankee. Can't wait for the weather to get better. Don't have to look anywhere else. You guys are the best.

In my buoyancy check on the beach, the chrome piece that keeps the circular bladder in place uncoupled or unscrewed while going under, and got lost in the water. [...] it should be noted that I could NOT repair the first stage on the island, so I am now carrying a replacement for those strange conditions.

Innovation at its best is the way to explain the function of the Genesis GS2000 Regulator. The first stage regulator incorporates Genesis Dry Air Demand (DAD). This simple yet unique design has a flow-by piston that mechanically balance the air of the first stage ensuring excellent breathing characteristics at full or low cylinder pressures. Balanced flow-by piston design, which is a "fail safe" mechanism, with a patented dry seal internal mechanism to keep the intricate components clean and contaminate free no matter what kind of environment you dive it in, constructed from marine grade chrome plated brass for long life and durability.

The DAD's function allows the regulator is increase the intermediate pressure of the regulator without messy oils or grease as with more sophisticated designs. This added benefit makes the regulator virtually uncontaminated from the environment of salt, sand or chlorine internally, which makes it the choice of most repair technicians. The first stage is equipped with two 7/16" threaded high pressure (HP) ports and four 3/8" threaded low pressure (LP) ports for addition of gauges and LP accessories; this is one work horse first stage regulator. Tee - shaped design reduces regulator pr ofile when mounted on tank minimizing opportunity to make contact with the back of the head. First stage has a high capacity inlet filter for smooth delivery of air to the second stage.

The Genesis GS2000 Balance 2'nd Stage delivers air effortlessly; its pre-dive/dive switch eliminates sensitivity when swimming through surf, jumping off the side of the boat, or fining in a current, yet allows high performance breathing when needed. Durability is assured with a non-corrosive ABS/Polycarbonate housing and a corrosion resistant passivated (302) stainless steel demand valve lever. Breathing resistance is factory set for optimal resistance. The GS2000 2'nd stage regulator adjustment knob is unique in that once the diver finishes tuning the regulator at the surface, the second stage automatically compensates for changes in ambient pressure providing smooth and easy breathing from start to finish of your dive. The regulators orthodontic mouthpiece allows hours of comfortable breathing without jaw fatigue. Regulator comes with an owner's manual and a 31" (78.75 cm) 3/8" threaded low pressure hose. Regulator is Nitrox compatible up to 40% oxygen out-of-the-box".
