Questions & Answers

Owen O : What size is 10-10 1/2?Mario C : No 10-10 1/2 according to size chart. there is 10-11 that would encompass 10-10-1/2 hope it helps
Shopper : There doesn't appear to be a 9-10 US men size. I normally wear a 9.5. Is there a size that would work here with 2.5mm socks please?ROMAINE W : I wear a size 9 US, I bought size 8-9 US, I always wear 3mm socks. the fins work well with the socks, the foot part of the fin is soft and comfortable. Of course your foot is half a size larger than mine, but I would hesitate buying a fin that would kick off.
Carmen L : Always had problems with foot cramps. Would these finds help?MARK T : No. Make sure your fins are comfortable and use the right thickness of booties if you use them. You might be kicking too hard. Use the large muscles in you thighs. Hope this helps.ROBERT B : you have to have propper fitting fins to help with the foot cramps these fins are great if your used to using a longer more agressive fin . i would suggest split fins and use flutter kick style while swimmingFREDERICK J : Foot cramps are usually caused by the fins fitting to tight. I buy my fins a little bigger than they need to be. The longer fins could cause leg cramps until you get use to them. But the blades on these fins are not real rigid so they may not bother you.STEVEN M : I assume you're comparing them to scuba or snorkeling fins. That's a hard question to answer. They are longer and more efficient if you're going in a straight line like up and down to depths like free divers do. They might save your legs from that aspect as they make you inclined to take longer, smoother strokes with your legs. On the other hand they are not as manueverable is shorter fins and would not be a good choice in shallow water where you might be turning around a lot. It takes a lot more leg muscle to move them around sideways in the water.
john s : How stiff are these compared to others? Soft, medium or stiff?gordon r : they are very soft at the boot but the blades are quite stiff much stiffer than the older modelsDAVID A : I would say that they are medium stiff. Nothing like carbon fiber though The foot pocket however is medium and pretty comfortable. I would ONLY use these BELOW the surface. they are not good for surface ( snorkeling) swimming. very fast, very efficient, really well made. For free diving or for spearfishing.. they're great finsMike T : Hi JS, They are a medium stiffness, good for long periods of time in the water. The positioning of the foot pocket beneath the blade minimizes foot strain and increases efficiency. If you want something stiff i would go for the Gara 2000. For the money these fins are truly a great value.
Shopper : Description reads "accommodates boots". Curious which thin boot would one recommend? (Neosport 5mm, Cressi 5mm, Bare 5mm boot)CHRISTOPHER D : You could try a surf booty like the O'Neil Super freak booties. However you'd probably need to try it on with it first. The Cressi Gara has a fairly thin trimming into the heel. Cressi fits pretty true to size, so you'd have to think at least a whole size bigger to accomadate the thin boot. Personally I just wear 3-5mm diving socks like Argos for example.DAVID A : I use a pair of 2mm or 3 mm dive socks.. with no sole on them. These fins have a full foot pocket, and I am thinking that a hard bottom will not work well. I think if you have the time, get the fins and try them on to see how much room you need to fill, then order the correct thickness of bootie or water sock. great fins for free diving by the way. Love them, and they always get lots of positive comments on the beach from lookers on. Most people have never seen this type of fin, so they always ask " what kind of fins are those? wow! are they big!"Franco R : The thickness of the boot depends on the water temperature; based on this a customer buys the "perfect" boot size or a bigger fin size. However the fin foot pocket of long blade cressi fins are honestly comfortable, therefore the use of a boot is not "mandatory". In general we recommend a boot with no sole, closer to a thicker neoprene sock.

Cressi Gara Professional LD review

I bought these fins a few years ago for SCUBA, not free diving. I've been diving for 40 years and have used many different standard strap fins with booties. These fins were amazing - the most comfortable fins by far that I've ever used. I wore the Cressi 2.5 mm sock with them. The size 42-43 were a perfect fit for my US size 10 foot. I felt they had more power than my standard fins, but don't know how they compare to other freedive fins. My legs or ankles never cramped, even in heavy current. Unfortunately after 2 seasons and about 100 dives, the back of the heel started splitting in the middle as some others gave noted and of course they were out of warranty. I tried patching with Aquaseal, which got me through the season, but eventually peeled off. I'd love to get another pair and may eventually, but want to get more than 2 seasons out of my fins, so am going to try Seac next.

Good buy

The sizes run small so they were a bit tight but overall they are a good buy.

Pros and cons by experienced diver

Pros: I?ve got a men?s US13 low-volume foot and this is THE MOST COMFORTABLE FOOT POCKET I?ve ever experienced in 40+ years of diving (SCUBA, snorkel, free). Cons: Blade is way too soft to give any real propulsion. ie all show, no go. I have a pair of inexpensive 25 year old plastic US Diver fins bought at that are still comfortable and propel as fast (horizontally and vertically) for the same effort, and they take up way less space in my bag. Thinking I?ll cut 4-5 inches off the end and then they?ll be pretty good. Summary: if you need the easy-but-stong propulsion generally gained by longer fins (freediving, SCUBA in current) get stiffer fins. If you want to LOOK cool, and have super comfortable foot pockets for low-volume feet, these are the bomb.

High quality free dive fins with a lot of surface area, a great value.

I swim in the ocean nearly every day and own both the Gara 3000 and these Gara Pro LD. The 3000 are a lot of fin and sometimes I feel they are too much for my late middle aged body. I was hoping that the Pro LD would be a long fin but more flexible and less stressful to use. What I have found is that the Pro LD feel stiffer and are actually wider than the Gara 3000. On the other hand the Pro LD foot pocket seems to be a stronger design and is shaped to fit a more normally proportioned foot. My feet are quite narrow and the 3000 fit me better for that reason. These Pro LD fins are a lot of value for the money. A young swimmer starting out could hardly do better and should get many years of use from them. In general, I like the quality of Cressi fins and these are no exception.

Broke after 1 use but replaced under warranty

I liked the fins upon initial use but then after a few free dives a hole developed on the heel of the foot pocket. It was covered under warranty but I had to pay return shipping to leisurepro which was almost $20. For a product that cost under $80 I was not happy to pay another $20 to get them replaced. I would have liked to see leisurepro or cressi cover the return shipping. I have not yet used the new replacement fins.

Fantastic Product!

So far, for Spearfishing I have been extremely satisfied with these fins. I'm faster and more confident in the water I feel more comfortable staying down longer on a breath hold because I can get back to the surface quick with these.

Got these for my boyfriend to start spearfishing and freediving with me. We take these out 2+ times a week. He says they are tight compared to the Reaction Pros, both fins are size 12-13.

Lowest price and perfect for freediving

I took these out about 1000ft offshore to freedive some soft coral sites in the Guld of Mexico. They were easy to get on and long as heck, so no way was I walking backward into the water in them.)I swam out in pretty chopped 2-4 ft seas and dove down and cruised for very long distances searching out locations. A weight built may have helped me since when I head downward it takes these flippers abit to get them fully submerged. Definately nothing like snorkeling fins, since they are made for cruising at depth. I also noticed by fins were brushing together on my kicking motion, I beleive because the normal stride of my kick is closer together. I assume these fins are a slight bit wider than my old snorkel fins, but I just needed to adjust to them. Overall, couldn't be happier and glad to share how great these fins worked for me. My first pair of good, long, freediving fins and I plan to keep using them for years.

free diving fins

they are nice for free diving the bahamas for lobster and some spearing. I am a fairly strong swimmer, and these fins are not stiff. They are much better than my short scuba fins, but I would have gone with a stiffer fin for more efficiency.

Excellent Fin

By ONEG8RH8R

Excellent Fin. I spend about 4 hrs a day in the water snorkeling and cover about 2 miles of water, I never feel like I have anything attached to my feet, but move very efficiently through the water and have the ability to chase down fish. You can move very quickly when you have to and can conserve all your energy when your just looking for fish from the surface.

GARA PRO
GARA PRO

Long Fins vs. Short Fins

Long fins provide greater forward propulsion. They allow you to travel farther, while exerting less energy. In contrast, shorter fins make it easier to change directions and allow you to kick at a faster rate.

GARA PRO

Maximum Power, Minimum Energy

With the foot pocket located below the blade, these fins are able to provide power with little effort. Along with the long length of the blade and its lightweight design, the positioning of the foot pocket eases the dispersion of energy throughout the fin, increasing the performance of the user.

GARA PRO

Soft elastomer for comfort

The anatomy of the foot pocket has been redesigned and, if possible, further improved compared to the already much appreciated shoe pockets of the Cressi Gara. The use of a new, particularly soft elastomer further increases comfort. The Gara Professional LD is an exceptionally soft full foot pocket style fin, which provides comfort during prolonged use on those long days in the water.

GARA PRO

After the great success of the Gara Professional and the Gara 3000 LD Cressi has combined the two designs and characteristics into the Gara Professional LD. The blade is made from a special elastomer polypropylene which gives a longer lasting, more fluid, softer kick that is less demanding, making it ideal for covering long distances. The use of this new plastic is less reactive than the Compoflex used in the Gara Professional. It is a progressive and controlled blade, with flexibility and gives an extremely fluid kick. Together with the exceptional lightness and non-dispersion of effort, the kick is more effective and easier than ever. As with the other Gara fins (2000HP, 3000LD and Gara Professional) the Gara Professional LD fins are made using processes that meet high standards of precision and compliance with strict technical parameters.

Foot Pocket: as with the Gara Professional fins, the new foot pocket of the Gara ProfessionalLD has been designed to fit on the bottom of the actual fin blade. This feature, together with a well-designed blade-foot pocket combination, reduces the fining effort and the dispersion of energy during fining. The shape of the foot pocket has been redesigned and improved further compared to the highly regarded foot pocket of the other Cressi Gara fins. The use of a new, more flexible elastomer, makes the foot pocket more comfortable.

Who are they for? The new Gara Professional LD are for all those divers who wish to benefit from the extraordinary performance of a long fin, without, having to use too much muscle strength, the ideal effort-productivity ratio can offer even higher performance than when using the more rigid and reactive Gara Professional. Perfect for long kicks, cold water fining, and ideal for use with Scuba the GaraProfessional LD fins will deliver! Fin is available in multiple sizes.
