I love boilite equipment and have many items. This one is a great size and does work but has a tendency to over heat quickly (4 lights flashing) but does reset when cool. I was hoping this to be a "leave and forget" item but not the case (not yet). I am playing around putting on green grass and semi sunny area both help, I wish I did not have to. I will continue to buy from biolite hoping I sort this one area for improvement.

Extremely happy with the ease of use, quality of materials and features. My only comment would be to change the cables to USB-C for everything seeing as even Apple is finally converting to the standard. I use it for travel, camping at our recreational sites here that are off grid and it saves running to the car to charge our lights.

I got the Solar 10+ for my birthday and couldn't wait to get it camping. I used it to recharge the battery on my BioLite Fire pit during the day. Charged the battery with no problem along with my cell phone too. It's an awesome addition to my camping gear.

Worked well. Charged my phone while it was charging it's own battery. Can't wait to take this out camping.

Easy to use. The sundial feature is a big help! I wanted to wait to give a review after using this camping... We were able to charge our phones with limited sun coming through the trees. Definitely worth the purchase!

So I've been curious about making electricity without kites and keys to mainly provide lighting when off grid, as well as any device needing a charge so I just purchased the BioLite SolarPanel 10+ and Charge 80 PD. Both pamphlet and online info was inadequate and sparse at best in my humble opinion so I got to the next best thing, hunker down, putter and tinker. I knew the solar panel has an onboard battery to power a circuit board which regulates the wattage I assume (not an expert in electricity, other than licking a 9v battery of old) so I made sure that battery was charged first and foremost. Took 4 hours of lighting attached directly (BioLite FlexLight 100) to accomplish that. I was impressed overall out of the box, both the battery and panel still held over 50% charge. So I charged the solar battery from my main battery pack (Charge 80 PD). Worked perfect. Now both batteries are fully drained, the Charge 80 PD took all night to drain, even after charging my phone and a battery powered camp light. This morning the solar panel is charging my main battery, both lights on both parts are blinking so I will assume that's a good sign. Specs state that the Charge 40 PD takes an average of 6 hours direct sunlight to charge so I'm aiming for a full day charge right until sundown and I'll see how charged I can get. Charge your batteries while still at home/base camp whenever you can and definitely for the first time. Not sure I needed to fully drain my batteries out of the box but shouldn't hurt. Using the provided cord plug into the USB on the battery and plug the micro-usb into the solar panel. Onboard electricity management circuit board battery will start charging. Unplug cord I assume with a safe compromise of at least 50% charge which I did, hopefully the battery doesn't need to be at 100% all the time to run efficiently. Solar panel ready to go! Using the cord that came with the solar panel plug into the USB port and plug the micro-usb into the Charge 20/40/80 PD and from what's happening here everything is working exactly as expected and tonight I should be able to light up my entire home. Winter is always a good time to product test in my humble opinion.

Let me start by saying that I?m a great fan of Biolite generally and I have firepit, campstove, the excellent Solar Starter Pack and various lights, all of which work really well. So I had high expectations when I ordered the SolarPanel+10. However it hasn?t met them and although it pains me to say it, I wouldn?t be confident to take this on a multi-day trek. It doesn?t seem to charge either itself, or my phone, with any great enthusiasm even in the full heat of the Florida sun. Also I find it fiddly to use - the ergonomics aren?t as good as on other Biolite products. For example, plugging in the cables involves taking it out of the sun as you have to pick it up and insert them from underneath. If the ports were on the top, this wouldn?t be necessary. Secondly, the yellow LED lights are impossible to see in bright sunlight especially against the yellow plastic case. And the fold out panel is reluctant to stay open - further diminishing the effectiveness as it?s not fully exposed to the sun. I know this sounds picky but the cumulative result is to erode my confidence in it, with the conclusion that I wouldn?t want to rely solely on the SolarPanel10+ for a multi-day trek. I have other solar chargers which are larger, heavier, and without useful features such as the kickstand and Optimal Sun System, or even the integrated battery. This means I have to carry a power bank as well, but as it stands I would still pick that combined option ahead of the SolarPanel10+ because I know I can trust them. If I could go back in time I would have spent my budget on an AlpenGlow or more SiteLights instead. Close but no cigar!

The product is well designed and easy to use. However I test several times with the claimed 3200mAh onboard battery by charging it with mini-usb or solar and usually only able to charge my iPhone XS (31xx mAh) half way at best.

It's really only powerful enough to charge your phone. Anything larger would really take too much time. We had hoped that it would store enough charge within itself to charge your phone overnight however it was only able to raise it about 10%.

Maybe slightly large for backpacking, however, it does the job fantastically well, charged 2 x GoPro batteries and 2 x phones in a day. I never got a full charge from my goal zero, always maxed out at 90%. I love the little cross hairs that allow you target the sun. This thing rocks

Let me first say i own everything biolite has to offer?.not because their product is the best?.but their support is outstanding?.lets get to it?.it s charging is fast?.has to be in direct sunlight?no shad?not in cloudy environment?.full sun or else it doesn't charge?.the funny thing i found with it?when trying to open it up?it doesn't stay open?.it refuses to?..but once it s in sunlight and panels heat up it stays open just fine?.it charges my iPhone 8plus just fine?my iPad takes a long time?like i mentioned before?.have not compared it to any other panel

SolarPanel 10+ was purchased with the Charge 80. In the preliminary tests, the SolarPanel 10+ would not fully charge the Charge 80, always one bar shy of full. It would not charge the 3200 ma reserve while the charge 80 was plugged in. Unplugged, in direct sunlight, the internal power storage is indicating full power.

Works really well, found that my Garmin InReach Mini would only charge half way though for some reason. Need to play with it more and see why. Was in full sun with the sundial in the centre of the crosshairs... next will be strapping it to my backpack while I hike tests. Super rugged design thats for sure!

So far works well and I'm very happy with the product! With the internal battery, I did experience overheat issues the first couple of times I tried it (4 fast blinking leds). Customer Service was super helpful and now that I'm aware of this, I know to be a bit more strategic with where I place it.

I have been able to charge my phone on sunny days. Slower on cloudy days, but it works well. The stored change on it is a nice feature. Making sure we have a way to charge our phones and lights for the next power outage.

I would love to give this five stars because it is a joy to observe it collect the sun's energy to charge my flashlight, cell phone, bicycle lights, etc. How long it will last is not yet known. However two pieces of information would enable me to consider offering five star status. First, I want to know before I purchase "Where was this item manufactured?" Secondly, I want to know "What is the actual carbon footprint of this product's production AND delivery to my hands?" I think that a smart company will offer these additional pieces of information, and utilize them to consider the comparative carbon footprint vs. monetary charge for similar production in another locale. While i wait for this enlightenment to take root, I continue to enjoy the gifts of the sun in my intentions to live in a greener manner.

LOVE THIS THING!!!! I use it pretty much everyday and always when traveling. Only drawback is it is a bit heat sensitive - when it is sunlight, in temperatures of over 85-90, it will overheat in about and hour or two (which is an issue in Phoenix, April - October.

I found that in the desert the sun is too intense, and use a slightly shaded area to charge it in, plus I hang it up off the ground to keep it cooler....I use a cloth similar to cheese cloth as an awning over my panels....I have 2, 10+; 2, 5+ and one 5 panel....I use them daily to charge my phone, lights, computers, cameras etc. While out doing studies and research funded by gov. grants in very remote areas.....from the Sonoran and Sahara deserts for 6 to 8 months at a time to many years spen...
