Atomic engineers deconstructed every component of previous front exhaust regulator designs to reevaluate and reimagine function and performance. The genesis of the unique Atomic TFX design lies in positioning the exhaust valve in the center of the inhalation diaphragm and mounting both in the front of the regulator, which provides enhanced breathing performance and superior dryness not possible in a conventional design.
In extreme diving positions, like looking upwards, the TFX exhaust valve and diaphragm are positioned at exactly at the same level with no pressure differential. Any water will collect at the exhaust valve and be easily exhaled with each breath. The water column effect is minimal in the TFX, compared to the large water column effect in the conventional regulator, which will become more difficult to inhale since the diaphragm is higher than the mouthpiece. The TFX is much less sensitive to different attitudes encountered during diving.
The radical TFX design created engineering and design challenges that resulted in fresh case architecture – a complex series of fluid and natural geometries that integrate seamlessly with the narrow-width case and front cover. These unique forms were truly necessitated by function, such as finding an innovative way to route the exhaust from the front of the regulator to the rear. Form follows function with the sweeping flexible front purge cover and extended soft silicone rubber exhaust deflectors that route bubbles away from and behind the diver’s field of view.
The TFX is fabricated with many iconic Atomic Aquatics materials and performance features:
- All-Titanium First and Second Stage metal components
- Seat Saving Dynamic Orifice
- Low-friction cap at the cam surface
- Venturi Nozzle gear-driven tuning switch
- Variable Lift Cam
- New 4X Yoke/DIN connection first stage – one turn secures it to the tank
- Comfort Swivel Hose now with less friction and smoother movement
The Atomic Aquatics TFX Regulator design is all about attitude! The TFX name refers to Titanium Front Exhaust. This differs from conventional second stages which are configured with an exhalation diaphragm in the front and an exhaust valve in the rear. The placement of the inhalation diaphragm and exhaust valve centered in the front of the regulator offers some unique advantages for improved breathing and dryness. This unique reimagined and reengineered front exhaust design with all corrosion resistance titanium second stage metal components and a soft grip Venturi control knob that has a special tuning switch and a variable lift cam. Reversible low-pressure rubber seat for easy maintenance.
This unique second stage regulator has Atomic Aquatics seat saving dynamic orifice and a low friction cap at the cam surface. Soft flexible front purge-cover, an extended silicone exhaust tee and boast a totally unique industrial design with fluid lines and geometries. Coaxial diaphragm and exhaust valve provide for 360-degree breathing effort. The second stage 3/8" threaded low-pressure hose is manufactured from super-flex medical grade silicone core.
The Atomic Aquatics TFX Regulator second stage is coupled with Atomic Aquatics T3 all titanium first stage. The T3 forges a new titanium standard as the absolute finest regulator you can own, regardless of price. The T3 is Atomic Aquatics signature first stage regulator, providing you unprecedented reliability and performance. Amazing light-weight and dependable materials makes it the perfect choice for travel. You'll dive confidently in exotic locations, where service is hard to find. Atomic Aquatics was the first to design and manufacture an all-titanium diving regulator. This exotic metal was chosen for its absolute corrosion resistance in ocean water, its strength, and its amazing light weight.
The T3 first stage has the features you have come accustomed to in an Atomic Aquatics regulator design. The T3 is a balanced flow-thru piston design using Atomic Aquatics jet seat high flow monel piston. Exclusive high-pressure piston seal system is self-lubricating for low friction and low maintenance. The Atomic Aquatics jet seat system has no sharp edges that can damage the seat over time, like most competitors' first stages. Instead, Atomic Aquatics employs a conical seat and blunt end piston. Atomic Aquatics' valve seats are precision machined from an extremely strong aerospace specification seat material. This design combination is the most reliable seat system in the industry and enables the seat to go 3-years or 300 dives without service. Diving performance is superior at even low tank pressure.
The T3 is also freeze protected with a factory sealed first stage that also prevents contamination such as silt and sand entering the mechanism. The regulator is Nitrox ready for mixtures up to 40% out-of-the-box. The first-stage has 2 high-pressure (HP) 7/16" and 5 low-pressure (LP) 3/8" ports. The LP ports are on a swivel turret for ease of hose routing. The regulator comes equipped with a 3/8" threaded 32" (81.3cm) low pressure hose, weighs approximately 1.6 lbs. (734g) and comes with an owner's manual.
