Entangles too easily due to poor design. I absolutely hate it.

i attatch this to the handel on my scooter to send up marker float, works very well. i have the 250' spool cap.140'smaller spool would be better.opps my fault. bigger isn't always better. so i ordered the smaller one also.only time & use will tell the quality of the plastic used.

Great concept and easy to use, however not well made. Mine fell apart during a wreck dive (reel broke off while reeling), broke only after a few uses. Poor materials/cheap plastic. Not recommended for use in technical applications (wreck or cave diving). Okay for use during S&R or deploying SMB.

does the job. easy to use. the gadget ratchet wheel thing is cool. easy to feed line out, easy to reel back in. I am not to keen on the construction but what can I expect? it is three times cheaper than the legit reels out. i can't really complain.

Line tangles easy. This could be a good product with some work. The line tangled and I had to wait until I got home to get it untangled. The sides are not high enough and the spool spins to easy. Needs higher sides or less line and a way to control the speed of the spool. Would also reccomend a knob instead of a screw head so the spool can be removed more easly if the line does tangle.

Broke at spool base and couldn't reel the line in. Shame nice set up. Poor quality.

The design of the mechinism is great, however the line comes off the sppol to easily sometimes getting tangeled. Taller reel sides or less line would help.

Very easy to use until it breaks, and it will. The side of the reel with the knob on it will break near the center. When this happens your line will free spool everywhere. I have seen this happen with 2 different people who each owned this reel.

Line tangles between spool and handle - I was able to untangle it a few times underwater (no gloves) but the last time I used it I couldn't get it fixed underwater. Took me about 2 hours once I got home - I was seriously considering just cutting it and having a shorter line, or throwing the whole thing away and buying something with a different design. Very frustrating ordeal.

I spent the whole dive untangling the reel. the string kept going off the side, and going underneath the reel and jamming. would not recommend to anyone

The line gets tangled in the reel on every dive. Very frustrating.

I have had this product for about a year and used it on ~40 dives. Recently the side of the reel completely broke off. The plastic around the bolt appears to have sheared off. For the money it is a good basic reel. However do not expect it to last.

Great Reel at a great price. I did remove 1/3 of the line on one reel and found it worked better that way. Don't worry there is plenty of line for a shark tooth hunt. I bought one for me and one for son. I really like the thumb lock. Much easier that other models I've looked at. I'll buy again if I ever wear this one out.

greats lil ratchet reel, compact enough, fast easy pay out, goes great with OMS 55lb lift bag, buy the 250' reel, it'll serve you better.

I used the reel while diving in Panama City Beach Florida and it worked great the only thing it needs is a guide for the string to help prevent tangles

Wanted something cheap for helping with navigation courses and search and recovery courses. This seems perfect especially for the price

It would be great if this plate was reversable. But its not. I use it right handed, but it would be nice if I could switch it to my preference, but all in all its a good reel. Get the 250,though. It's not that much extra line.

In the early days of cave diving, reels were not available to buy off the shelf. Divers used anything they could, including empty electrical wire spools. When exploring, divers would pay-out the line and if they didn't empty the entire spool it would be left in the cave for the next dive since winding the line was difficult if not impossible. The Aqua Ratchet Primary Reel is a large diver's reel designed for cave and wreck diving. The reel is available with 2-line lengths of 140' or 250' (42.7m or 76.2m).
This unique, high impact and corrosion resistant plastic reel is extremely durable and feature a unique, thumb operated, ratchet lever line payout design. Press the lever and the spool releases line, stop pressing and the ratchet lever stops spool from turning. Reel is equipped with strong and durable line that has a special braid capable of holding a maximum 176 lbs (80kg) of dry weight. To attach the reel to your equipment, reel has a chrome-plated bass spring loaded 360 Degree swivel gate clip and a durable ABS plastic handle. The reel positions the handle on top, which helps divers who use a handheld light to hold both the light and the reel in one hand, freeing the other hand to work the reel.
