Questions & Answers

TAMMY C : Did you purchase the same magnification that you use for reader glasses? Did that magnification work well for you?ALAN K : It did. The magnifiers though are less than ideal as you can only see em in a very small area. Better than nothing but not by much.Darl M : I didn’t have luck with them they kept moving I bought a mask with them made right in things are magnified under water so I didn’t need as strong of prescriptionsteven m : Yes i did and they worked without issuesMICHAEL H : Yes, i ordered the same magnification, and they were perfect. I can read my gauges now without any issue.LORNE L : Yes, I got close to the reader glasses and it works fine.DAVID T : Yes, that worked fine for me.
BRUCE B : Are these made of glass or composite or plastic?MARILYN W : I do not think they are glass, but don't know whether it is a composite material or plastic.steven m : I am pretty sure they are plastic.
LAWRENCE P : My mask has corrective lenses, diopter -5.0. Will these work for seeing my gauges and computer more clearly?JOEL S : Absolutely not. The lenses will only stick to a mask that has no prescription. I tried putting them on a mask with a prescription similar to yours and it did not work.LARRY MICHAEL L : Not sure I understand. If you have corrective lenses already in the mask why are you adding magnifiers? Also, negative diopters are for nearsightedness if I'm right. I guess if you are nearsighted they might work. I'm farsighted and only have experience with positive diopters. I don't think they would work over a curved surface of corrective lenses already in the mask. I didn't have success with this style magnifier and ended up getting very large prescription lenses in my mask.ROBERT D : Yes
Ezio B : is it made of silicon and can be moved from one mask to another?DIANE T : My husband doesn’t remove his, and I would advise buying a few pairs so you don’t have to move them. He swears by them. He says also to be careful not to rub them when you rinse the mask. Hope this helps. DPHYLLIS C : Not sure what they are made of it's been so long ago I bought them. They can be moved because you will not get the field of vision you want the first time. Some experimenting is needed to adjust.JAMES G : Believe it is silicone, not positive, easily moved to another mask.
Ken W : How small are these readers? I want to put them in a Scubamax ARC micro mask and because they are glass, I can't cut them like the flexible suction type.WALTER B : NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOUR MASK. HOWEVER, MINE IS A PRETTY SMALL VOLUME, CRESSI AND THE LENSES FIT JUST FINE. THEY ARE SEMI-CIRCULAR, 1 1/2 " IN DIAMETER. HOPES THIS HELPS.Ken W : Thank you for all the responses. I like the idea of grinding. I have some ultra fine disks that might work.ADRIAN M : About 1 inch wide by 1/2 inch tall.JAMES G : About the size of a quarterJOHN G : I as able to grind them on a fine grit wheel to fit in a Cressi evotution mask , works wellJOHN M : Ken, I am out of the country for a week and do not have my mask with me , so I can not give you an exact measurement of the optics. I can tell you I have used different brands for over 15 years { I am an instructor]and I finally went to the glass optics so I could glue them in with epoxy. Several times not in a controlled space or bucket the stick ins fell out and got lost. They work perfectly in both my masks. Let me know if you have another question JohnMURRAY A : I'm not familiar with your mask, but the optics are a little over an inch long and three quarters of an inch wide. Hope this helps.

Need a better adhesive for the lens

Lasted two dives before the lens adhesive let lose. Followed directions exactly, even allowing the mask to set for 48 hours before use.

Fair product

They work. For a while. The glue is not waterproof, and the lenses eventually fall off.

Stronger Glue Required. Good Lens Clarity

Followed directions exactly. Cleaned mask/lenses, used templates provided and amount of glue required. Let sit for 48 hours. Lenses kept moving while glue was drying as required glue was too much in my opinion. After lenses dried, they seemed to be glued in pretty well. First two dives they stayed in place. When adding defog one of the lenses detached. The other one came off very easily when I pulled on the edge of the lens to remove it. I would suggest better/stronger glue. The clarity, power and size of the lenses was great, they just didn?t stay attache, otherwise they would be perfect.

Went exactly by the directions! First dive left lens floating. would not recommend this product.

Decent product for the price - install carefully

They work, but I only could get one to stay in place, no matter what I did. In fact, all these years later, one is still attached and one is not. The one, doing its job, is really quite helpful to see details on tiny little sea creatures and it is not in the way for viewing things at a distance.

Good lenses, not high strength glue

Work very well, but need to use glass glue. The glue that comes with the lenses does hold for the long term.

Avoid

Worthless. Would not stay on the lens. Once exposed to sea water the glue released and the lenses fell out.

Must use better glue

I need gauge readers and the "prescription" mask I got (for $333.00 USD) is a JOKE. NOT happy about that. But, these are a good compromise short of the "XS Scuba Gauge Reader Down View" mask. If I could try one for fit, I would likely just get one of those. BUT.... I have 5 back-up masks, so I will try these first and see how they work. I will be upgrading the adhesive though. I recommend Gorilla Super Glue Gel. just be careful to not trap bubbles. And use some weights to keep the lens pressed down while it sets. I used a could of 115gr 9mm projectiles...worked great.

Works...Sort of

Wouldnt be without one. Use it on the lower left side for reading instruments and camera settings. For a lasting seal, I use silicone on the edges.

These work

These will allow you to read your dive computer. The glue doesn't last more than a couple of days of diving, but the lenses adhere to the mask without it. You can always reapply the glue if you are afraid you'll fill your mask with water and wash them out.

Great product but keep you mask dry between dives.

These are amazing. Just make sure you keep the inside dry as much as you can. Don’t let it soak in water. While diving the water alone magnify what you see this helps for me as I use reading glasses. Helps me see the small details on dive computers.

Gauge blind !

Glue doesn't hold very well but works. If you can get the glue to hold they do the job.

Corrective lenses for dive mask

Theses lender do not stick. Have used alcohol to clean before applying glue an followed instructions to the letter. Usually can move them around in mask after a dive. Oh to have a really good mask selection with corrective lenses, readers.

poor glue stability

I was so hopeful that these reading lenses would help me while scuba diving. During the very first snorkeling swim the glue began to fail. The adhesive stayed gooey so I removed them for the next scuba dive two days later.

Don't make this mistake

We tried these in our masks and found out the hard way that this is not the way to go if you need vision help in a mask. If you really can't see without aid just go ahead and get a prescription mask.

OK for What You Pay For--Not A Replacement for Custom Mask

These are easy to put in, and did work fine for me, though one fell out during a week's use and had to be re-glued (unsuccessfully; see below). A few hints that made them work better for me: Let the glue dry for at least 48 hours before using your mask; don't leave your mask in a bucket of water between dives; when you get out of the water make sure you tip any water out of the lenses; don't leave a damp mask in the sun. I recommend these in a pinch for your once-a-year dive vacation, but if you're a serious diver a custom mask is best.

A total waste of money if you use their glue.

Service and delivery from the store was great. When I contacted the manufacturer about the problem with the glue, he basically threw it back in my face and said that I probably didn't do it right. Never mind the fact that there are MANY other divers that had the same complaint (just look through the internet), and using a water base glue for diving is

Not very clear

I was expecting much better results in my visual acuity but the product failed to fulfill my expectations. I don't think it was the fault of the product itself but of the whole process of vision and distortion under water. The only possible improvement I can think would help is if the lense was larger. the negative comments made by other reviewers about the lenses falling out did not happen to me.

Came off after 3 dives

After 3 dives in Salt Water they came off the mask. They were good for 2 dives, the third, well, they came off.

Don't waste your money

This item will not stay attached to the mask for more than the first dive. Salt water compromises the glue. This make the product useless. Also, this product is glass, so if you do not know it is lose and it falls out of the mask, it will break on your boat deck, or you will lose it.

Not for masks with curved lens

The product arrived in good condition. Unfortunately, both of my dive masks have curved lens. Given that the magnifier lens are made of glass, it cannot be bent to conform to the shape of the masks' lens. The fact that it was made of glass should have been the clue. The product may work if applied to a flat surface such as a single window dive mask. I will try the Optix 20/20 stick-on and return this product.

Economical, but not great.

Gluing them in was easy enough, and they did stay stuck for two days of diving. On the third day they started sliding around inside the mask. They were also a bit cloudy, rinsing by flooding the mask seemed to help. Overall, I would recommend getting a real prescription mask.

Better adhesive is needed

I have installed these lenses more than 7 or 8 times. I install them exactly as written in the instructions, but never-the-less, after every day of diving the lenses start moving around or fall off. I then have to clean the mask and lenses well, and glue the lenses back in place all over again. Then the next time I dive it happens all over again. The lens work fine as long as they stay on, but that's not for long.

Easy to Install

By btw2459

Received this yesterday and installed it into the Dive Rite mask I got at the same time. Easy to install and I liked the template that comes with the lenses to help the installation. One thing you need to remember is that once you've glued the lens to your mask the mask must remain horizontal or the lense has the potential to slip out of position - mine did (had to re-apply the glue and lens. I've had other magnifying lenses before and a top tip is to make sure your hands are grease free...
