Questions & Answers

robert s : What is the transmission range, ie distance from boat/receiving station?darrick c : Hello Robert, Accurate positioning, your GPS position accurate to 5' (1.5 meters) and a man overboard distress message will be broadcast to all AIS equipped ships up to 34 miles (55 km) away as well as a special DSC message to the marine radio on your own vessel. All modern commercial ships and most yachts are equipped with AIS and DSC allowing universal worldwide use of the all new Nautilus Life-Line.JACK S : My understanding is that the range is 30 plus miles. Some claim between 34 and 38 miles.
CARSON G : Can you use this device to radio and speak with your local dive boat in a situation where it is not yet an emergency? It is confusing because there's older reviews where it appears this device once had a version that could be used as a radio, where this newer model no longer offers that option and is only used in an emergency to report GPS coordinates.darrick c : Hello Carson, no you do not have voice talking option with this unit. This only sends out a distress signal.RICKIE H : Hi. The unit I purchased summer 2022 will send an emergency distress and there is no voice communication.JACK S : I believe it is only a distress signal. Very affordable insurance policy for both divers and boaters alike. The performance and deployment details are available online and on YouTube!
Suzanne H : Is it a one time use or multiple times?WILL W : As long as you keep the replaceable batteries with a sufficient charge, this item can be used many times.
TERRY C : How long will the battery last once it is activated assuming you have a fresh battery?EARL P : To be honest with you, I don’t know because I never activated yet to need helpL R : Not really able to figure without more info from manufacturer. However, cold water would reduce battery capacity.
Oh B : Does it require a monthly subscription to use?JOEL L : No, absolutely not. You just buy the lifeline and change the battery every other year or so. It sends a signal with GPS coordinates to any boat in the area. There is not a service to subscribe to. It saved my ass in the Galápagos Islands when I used one that belonged to the live aboard boat and I bought one as soon as I got home.L R : No it works on marine VHF AIS system.EARL P : No it’s freeNHAN P : No, you don’t need.Hernando P : NoWAYNE K : No subscription if any kind required.SEAN A : No.

Worth it

What is your life worth? Answer, a whole lot more than the cost of a Nautilus Lifeline.

programming is done with the light on your phone

Have not used the Nautilus Lifeline yet. Dealing with Scuba.com was fast and flawless. Glad to use a scuba shop instead of Amazon, so I could suppport the hobby. Reading the technical specs of the Nautilus, it should be a great safety aid. Of course, I hope that I never need to use it.
