Mike G : how large a diameter does the loop open up to when full open?Mario C : from our stock ( after being closed for a while is just 6 inches) the loop is made out of pvc so it can remolded to be wider when open
Gabor T : does the loop pull handle have a ratchet function so it stays fixed (tight) if you release the pull handle?MATTHEW K : No ratchet. Once pulled, you have to hold to keep tension on it. I have heard that those that have a tensioning device are easier to use.DENISE C : Yes it does. You may want to check your states marine laws as to where you can use this. I found that some states don't allow the use of this stick. Have to go out of state to use it. Have fun with it, though it's a great stick! LeisurePro is excellent to deal with.STEVEN C : No ratchet, you must maintain tension.PAUL Z : It does not have a ratchet. The diver must maintain tension on the loop handle to keep it tight. This requires holding the fixed tube and moving rod at the rear of the stick.DAVID H : No, it does not ratchet down. Don’t buy it

Just spent 8 days in key west diving and lobstering. I purchased 2 of these and they are not worth the savings. Ended up leaving them at the dock after day 3 due to the loops not working at all. The only functional part of these is the handle with the measuring lines and the clip for your BCD. I really wanted these to work but we must have lost 8 lobsters due to the poor design.

Simple design and easy to use.

The design is simple and it is easy to operate. I like that there ISN'T a lock on the snare so that I can easily remove a lobster. The integral gauge is a nice touch, and the brass clip to attach to a BC is ideal and extremely useful.

I should have waited and bought one that has an automatic retract. You have to use both hands to keep the loop closed.
