Questions & Answers

Yvonne G : How long do you run the fan in the wetsuit?  I’m concerned about running it too long and burning out the fan.KURT R : I've ran it overnight with no problems.GREGORY H : I run it as long as necessary, which sometimes is more than a day. I find that keeping it on after the suit feels dry helps prevent a mildewy smell occurring. I've had mine for several years now and the fan hasn't worn out at all. I highly recommend using this fan if you want to surf several times a week and not have to get into a damp, smelly suit.SHANE B : I can run mine for well over 24 hours straight. Never burns out. I've had mine for years now. It's great. I even dry out my 7mm oneill suit.JEFFREY L : I have left my fan running overnight on multiple occasions and had no issue with overheating. I can't speak to letting it run for days, but overnight (~8-9hrs) has been fineWilliam B : As long as the intake isn’t blocked the fan should not have any issues with”burning out”. Typically I leave it running anywhere from overnight- a couple days. It doesn’t take long to dry a wetsuit suit it’s just convenient.
Carmine P : On average how long does it take for your dry suit to dry? For example when the suit was flooded? Just you typical moisture after a dive (no leak during the dive)?KURT R : My dry suit is usually ready to go in about an hour or but the room I hang it up in is also warmJAMES H : I'll say maybe 12 or so hours. If you put them in your bathroom, like I have done and hang it on the shower head. I just do this overnight and forget about it. My wetsuit is a 7 mil.FRED B : Overnight should get it. I have never flooded it totally.GREGORY H : I only use a wetsuit for surfing, so it’s always flooded by the time I finish. It takes about 6 or 7 hours for my suit to dry when I hang it on the dryer, my suit is always dry by the next morning. Be sure to wash it out with fresh water before hanging to prevent mildew.RANDALL S : Typical post-dive moisture dries in a day in my 60-degree garage. Less in the summer or if it's indoors. If it was flooded, you really need to put towels (I use old washrags) down into the feet and step on them from the outside to squish excess water out of the liner. Then it'll dry in a couple days.
Mike M : does this come with the extra hooks on the under side of the hanger?ROBERTS T : No it's just a grate covering the fanRICK S : there are no under side hooksPAUL B : No. Mine did notMICHAEL H : No it does not...essentially you put your suit around the hanger, it sucks air from the top vent and pushes it out from below...and out through the sleeves and legs.MICHAEL E : mine didn't
K R J : I watched a online video on this hanger and the fan sounded pretty loud. Anyone with experience using this is a small hotel room or a liveabord?Michael U : Sleeeeep with ear plugs and you'll love that dry suit in the morn ;)ELIZABETH W : yes it is pretty loud and it actually take a whole day to dry. Sorry to said now the hanger is in the pile of no good stuff.ROBERT M : They do make noise because it has a motor but if you think of it more as "white noise" it's not bad at all.LANI M : It doesn't seem too loud to us. FYI: If you use it with your wetsuit inside out, the part that touches your skin will be pretty dry the next morning. If you don't use it with your suit inside out, it won't help much. I don't mind the sound.JAMES F : I've used it in a hotel room and you're correct - it's pretty loud - but I didn't lose any sleep over it. On the larger plus side, it's about the most effective drying method I've used.
JONATHAN M : It's called a wetsuit hanger, but is it good for a drysuit? Will the motor damage the seals by either heat or ozone emission? Is there any other reason you wouldn't want to use this with a drysuit? Thanks.MATT S : I'm pretty sure it would be fine for a drysuit. The only thing I would caution about is the edges of the plastic...they can sometimes be sharp on the bottom of the hanger and can damage the material if it is a front entry style. This happened to my previous wetsuit that I use to dry with this system.DAVID N : Nope, no reason. I use mine for drysuits and it works great. I have 2 drysuits: one I can turn inside-out and the other, which has built in heavy duty boots can only be dried over night with this hanger. The inner parts of my suit are usually dry in a couple hours, but to get the pads in the boots completely dry it takes 8 or so hours. There is not heat source in this hanger, only a small fan in the center which blows air down into the suit and thus dries it more quickly. I was reluctant to buy one, but I am glad I did, especially when I spend all day in my drysuit here in Alaska. Makes the foollowing days dives a lot more comfortable and a lot warmer.DANIEL J : This hanger simply has a fan built into the top that forces air downward through the collar of the suit. I use this for wetsuits and drysuits and it works well for the former, ok for the latter. There is no heating that takes place, it simply moves air - so no heat drying. It works partially for drysuits since air flow is impeded because air does not flow through the legs, but I leave the front zipper open during drying and the arms and top of the suit is properly dried. I also use it is a drysuit storage hanger since it is very wide and distributes the load across the shoulders nicely. No idea about the ozone part of your question.STEVE L : I've only used it for wetsuits up to 4/3, and it works great. The motor doesn't get hot. All of my wetsuits are seam sealed on the inside and I haven't had any problem with the seals. Dude, it's basically a small fan blowing air down into your wetsuit - ozone emission???CHANCE G : It just blows ambient air, nothing is heated.STEVEN N : I bought two of these for drying my wetsuits after diving last year and they work very well for that. The unit produces no sufficient heat so I don't expect it would damage the drysuit seals. Not aware of any ozone emission issues. The enclosed fan is very similar to a computer chassis fan and is about as powerful so I am not sure how well these would work with a drysuit with enclosed boots. When in use with my wetsuit if flows air through the open legs nicely and the unit dries very quickly. The enclosed boots may restrict air flow too much for use with a dry suit, would have to try it and find out. Steven N.LUCIE P : Jonathan, this was a gift for my son. I have forwarded your message to him and he will be the one to reply.LAWRENCE H : Nope! It's great. No damage at all after 2 years of use on my wetsuit. Much better for the suit than hanging it in the sun.JACOB P : It's just a fan inside a hanger. The amount of heat and ozone given off is negligible. If the drysuit has the boots built in, it won't work as well, because the air won't be able to circulate very well through the legs and thereby dry them out as well as if the legs had open ankles through which the blowing air could escape.

Not for my needs

Did not work properly…fan motor pulsated. I really needed heated air for drying the suit.

Works very well

I was a bit skeptical at first, but upon reading other reviews, I decided to give this piece of gear a shot. It worked out well! I often had a lot of trouble in my basement utility/laundry room getting items to dry sufficiently in a day or two- tends to be damp there in the summer, have to waste a lot of electricity to keep a de-humidifier running in the room when drying wetsuits and dive gear. Well, not anymore! I tried two 7-mm wetsuits in around 15-18 hours letting this run in the afternoon/overnight. My particular device had a pulsing mode to the fan- I do not know if that was by design, but the airflow never stopped passing through the arms/legs and out. Make sure to not seal up the shoulder/neck area of the wetsuit/drysuit around this hanger, otherwise it'll impede good airflow across the fan and make the fan work harder/overheat. It IS a bit pricey, but you really only need to buy it once, then enjoy the benefits of quick suit drying.

works very well

Much better than I would have thought. It really pushes air into the suit. Especially perfect for my dry-suit. Even with the dry gloves detached the suit fills right up with air and vents through the wrists.

Great Drysuit Dryer System

I bought this for drying out sweat, light moisture & condensation. It drys fairly quick and does a great job. I love it. I use this with my DUI CF200X with zip dry hood and zip dry glove drysuit.

Really good, one cord malfunctioning

We bought three of these Hangairs to dry our 5/4mm wetsuits from surfing in our small SF apartment and these things riiiiiiiip. All three wetsuits are dry within 24 hours. One of the cords seems to be malfunctioning so we have had to swap that one out... so not 5 stars but the other two units work well.

Great dryer

After diving, came home, soaked and rinsed my wetsuit, full 7MM, and immediately hung it on the Dryer, Wetsuit was literally dripping with water when I started. Took about 24 hours to get the completely soaked 7mm wetsuit perfectly dry. If it were just damp, would be way quicker. Large in size so might take a bit more room in the travel bag with the rest of the gear. After the wetsuit dried, I simply unplugged it and left it on the dryer hanger in my closet. supports the wetsuit perfectly.

UK Hanger

This hanger works very well and drys fast. It is large and supports my dry suit and wetsuit well without damaging it. It also comes with a long power cable. I will be getting more for my other suits.

Broke after 20 times of use

I purchased this product to dry a surf wetsuit. After roughly 20 times of use, the fan quit working. I've tried getting a hold of the manufacturer numerous way via email and their website, no response. While their website lists warranty policy, they will never respond to a filed claim. Would highly recommend not purchasing this product, it's a waste of money.

It great!

I was having problems with cleaning my dry suit. I had no way to dry the water that remained pooled inside the boots and the smell was horrible. Cleaned it with Mirazyme and hung the suit to dry but the water would remain long enough that smell would return. Bought this hanger with minimal expectation. I was very pleasantly surprised. The dry suit dried overnight and no more smell problems. I have not tried to use it with my wet suit yet, but I have no doubts it will work great. Highly recommend this product.

Good idea and good for home use, but not for travel

I loved the idea of this wetsuit drier, but in reality it is much larger in person than it appears in the picture. Also, as someone else noted, getting the hanger attached was a challenge, but seems sturdy once attached. It does appear that it would work great, but because I specifically hoped to use this when traveling (as I have no local dive places), it won't be very useful to me. It's just too big and fat for my luggage.

No more smelly drysuit feet!!

I have a ScubaPro Exodry 4mm neoprene drysuit with hard soles and it is impossible to fully turn it inside out to dry. With this hanger I can wash as normal, then hang to dry right side out. Its fairly quiet, strong and blows a lot of air. I leave it on over night and the inside of my suit is bone dry. Tip: zip your drysuit closed for best results.

Dries my winter wetsuit even faster than advertised, energy efficient

Dries my 6/4 winter wetsuit very quickly -- it's completely dry overnight. I also like that the fan is fairly energy efficient: I put a meter on it and it draws just 9-10 Watts of power. My only wish is that the hanging hook could fold down for storage. I don't have enough hanging space to leave it hanging up all the time, and would like to be able to fit it on a shelf when not in use.

Maybe??? I rarely use it but it's handy!

The one time I did take this on a dive boat, it was ok. It's better if the dive boats have a room where they put your wetsuit to dry, or if you can hang them on the side of the boat. This was handy once but it's so bulky, I don't have room to take it with me.

Great Idea, and fast drying

However, it is hard to pack! And you really have to practice on how to get the steel hanger out of the plastic part! It aggravates me every time. Although, it is the best hanger for Wet/Dry Suits! It replicates the shoulders and you don't have any creases in the shoulders of your Wet/Dry Suit afterward. Very fast drying, like they say, only about 1.5 hours for a wetsuit and a little longer for a Drysuit (2.5 hours) because there isn't a way for the air to get out with the attached boots of a Drysuit, so it has to go back up and out through the arms or neck. I am buying a 2nd one for my Drysuit because even using a wooden Business Suit hanger puts a little pressure point on the latex neck seal. This "HangAir" would alleviate that problem. However, you need to find a very high place to hang a Drysuit, it is long when you don't have it on! I had to find a Stud in the ceiling and put an eye bolt there just so the boots don't touch the floor.

great idea - awesome so far.

I have had the version of this hangar without the dryer for several years. I bought this one recently with the dryer. I tend to get dampness/moisture in my drysuit. I took it on my first trip last weekend and it was great. Everyday I was able to get into a bone dry suit. No idea how robust the motor is...but no problems so far.

Good for local diving

This hanger works well to dry a wetsuit in a 6-12 hours. I think a timer would have been a good addition but you can always plug it into a wall timer. Too bulky to take abroad but good if you are driving to a dive site and diving over the weekend.

Accelerated drying of our wetsuits minimizes possibilities for odor forming. Eliminates the unpleasantness of early morning donning of a still-damp and cold wetsuit.

Lives up to it's promise!

By Richard B.

This product is perfect for quickly drying the inside of a Drysuit. Most suits are damp to wet on the inside after heavy use or after you rinse them out. The fan moves enough air to get the entire inside, including the feet, dry to the bone. Highly recommend it.

I drys my wetsuits and ski jackets

Do you dread slipping into a cold, wet, smelly wetsuit or dry suit especially on a frigid early-morning dive? Well, you're not alone. The Hangair Wetsuit/Dry Suit Dryer is designed specifically to eliminate wet-suit dread. Start dry and warm every dive. Hangair is used by recreational divers and dive professionals around the world. The problem of cold, wet, smelly wetsuits is universal, but the solution is Hangair. Hangair uses a high-powered fan pushing 120 cubic feet (3.4 cubic meters) of air per minute through your wetsuit or dry suit. Your suit will be dry in hours, not days - that's the ticket!

Plug the Hangair into regular AC power. It comes standard with a 15' (4.57m) cord, so no extension cord is necessary in most cases. Safe low voltage power is supplied to the hanger fan through the cord from a 100/240 VAC universal wall mounted adapter. The Hangair utilizes a 12V motor. This low-voltage system insures safe operation in wet environments. Because the fan operates off 12 volts, you may also utilize a car adapter when a wall outlet is not available. The Hangair not only dries your suit faster it also slows the development of bad odors, and prolongs the life of your gear.

The hanger is made from 100% recycled plastic with a super strong nylon body and stainless-steel hook that will hold up to 100 lbs. (45.36 kg), so no matter how soaking wet your suit is it can handle the weight. Hanger measures (L x W x H) 21.5" x 7" x 14.2" (56.6cm x 17.8cm x 36cm), weighs 36 oz. (1,021 g), is black in color and is proudly made in the USA.
