Questions & Answers

CARLOS F : Is it easy to operate small instruments like buttons of a GoPro camera or a diving computer with these gloves?DAVID D : No it would pretty awkward. These are relatively heavy material. They protect your hands better than mostRICH R : you could probably operate any button the size of the shutter button on a gopro, any smaller than that and it's going to get tricky followed by frustrating. These are stiff gloves... they soften up in water but are by no means conducive to manipulating fine or small instruments. I use them primarily for snorkeling, hanging on to rocks. handling spiny lobster and lionfish.... they are sturdy and near impenetrable. They do not provide a high degree of tactile response.RANDY G : Nor a problem great gloves. Not meant for warmth only protection therefore thin and more dexterity.MATT N : No , you would have to take them off. They also don't protect you from Black Sea. Urchin spines if you are diving in the tropics.LAWRENCE D : Stiff at first then soften over time. I use UW cameras all the time and find no difficulties
EDUARDO C : HI, I WANT TO KNOW IF THIS GLOVES WOULD RESIST A LIONFISH STING?RICHARD B : I use them for spiny Lobster catching. I do not know if they will protect you from Lion fish, but I would not recommend trying to handle live lion fish with them. Spear them and cut off the spines would be the recommendation.DAVID D : Great question........ but the answer is NO. The gloves help considerably and guard against most problems, but almost nothing stops a needle sharp lion fish spine. DDDANIEL P : To a certain extent I dive were lion fish are prevelant and spear them ever chance I get . The best defense is caution and a reef bar. I find gloves are only good when wreck or construction divingJAY S : Not sure. I have never tried grabbing one with the gloves on. If you test it and don't get stung let me know.WAYNE C : I have never tried handling a lionfish with them. The gloves are tightly woven, but lionfish spines are extremely sharp. I suspect the gloves may provide some protection, but I would still treat the fish as if I were bare handed.TANIA C : I bought these gloves for my husband but I see these gloves on him...he uses them to hunt for lobster and has never handled a lionfish, I am not sure if you could use these or not.GRANT H : They'd help resist a sting (or any fish spine or spiny lobster poke) but won't stop it all the time. They gloves are not impervious but do offer great abrasion resistance. I don't know many dive gloves that are completely effective against a sharp fish spine.NEAL V : I would recommend calling Akona for that answer.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?BEN H : Lionfish hunting. I have been stung with and without these gloves. The lionfish barb is covered by a sheath and when it comes in contact with the glove the sheath is pushed down and releases the venom so when the barb contacts your skin the venom is gone and all you get is a little stick from the barb.

Great on Walleye

I love these gloves for protection from fins and teeth when spearfishing for walleye. Also protection from cuts from zebra mussels as I drag along the bottom in Bull Shoals Lake looking for fish. They seem to run a little small and I like them larger so I can have the option of wearing other gloves under them in colder water.

Stiff but o/w great gloves

These gloves are a bit stiff but that is the tradeoff for great protection, esp with lobster and large fish.

My Preferred Glove

This ArmorTex material is strong and flexible. I use the gloves on all my dives which are always around coral and barnacles. The gloves protect my hands very well. I have been using this type glove for years and have not found a better material.

good gloves

Unfortunately I've not yet used them underwater, they seem a little small on the sizing so a little snug, and a bit stiff, but that's expected for "bullet proof" (lol) gloves. Can't wait to snatch lobster with them, for which they seem perfect. Also, I am, as always, very pleased with ordering from Leisure Pro. They're truly pros.

!!!LONGEVITY!!!BULLETPROOF!!!

I discovered these gloves about 8 years ago. These things really get the job done when handling those tough to hold fish. Durability and protection are top notch. No more worries about getting cut by barnacles or those razor sharp gills plates. Only 2 pairs in 8 years of extreme abuse (25 or more dives per gulf of Mexico red snapper season). Buying a new pair now due to holes in left index and middle finger tips. My left glove takes double the abuse, because i wear it while cleaning the fish as well. I've avoided some fillet knife cuts for sure. (think chain mail only comfortable). If you need bullet proof hand protection, IMO you can't get better in todays choices. I do wish the fingertips were reinforced though.

Bestt for spearfishing / structure dives

These gloves feel like the Rhino liner on the bed of a truck, but are soft on the inside. They are great for diving on/around abrasive surfaces such as wrecks or structure. They are also great for spearfishing. They allow you to hold a fish with a stronger grip than normal neoprene gloves and, so far, I have not hat a fin or tooth penetrate the gloves. Highly recommended. Just make sure you order 1/2 size larger than normal.

BUSINESS INVOLVES RISKS!!

Your company has made it very difficult for me to buy products from yourselves by not allowing the use of credit cards to purchase .By only accepting TT payments I had to pay your bank charges of USD 20 which is significant relative to the price of the gloves. Furthermore, the bank charges resuited in a shortfall payment for which u accepted payment via credit cards, talk about insult to injury. Pls join the real world asap.
