Questions & Answers

Michelle P : The dimensions of this bag are 21”x14”x12” whereas according to Delta/FAA regulations, a carryon cannot exceed 22”x14”x 9”, which means this bag is 5” too wide, not including fins if they’re on the outside. Has someone actually taken this on a delta flight as a carry-on with no issues on this?darrick c : Hello Michelle, we have had customer use this bag as a carry-on option. Not sure which airline they flew. If Delta is the airline you are flying and they tell you it to big then you would need to check this bag.
Shopper : Will the fins fit inside this bag? Does the bag have a way for water to drain out?darrick c : Hello, yes, the fins can fit either inside or outside. No water drain hole on this bag.Joyce S : Yes, fins fit inside. No, for water drainage.Joyce S : Yes, fins fit INSIDE the bag if you prefer it that way instead of how it looks in the photo. The bag is NOT designed for water drainage.
JOHN B : What color is this bag?SUSAN H : Majority of the bag is black with 2 options for top blue or red.Cindy T : Mine is black and blue with a little orange in the logoMario C : Black and blue as it shows on the pictures.
GARY G : d you think I can fit my 3mm cressi wetsuite, cressie travel light BC, 2 mask, and reg in this bag? I was going to get the Akona reg back for reg. I already have this cressi carry on for everything else can I get away with this for an all carry onSTEPHEN D : no. only a regulator would fit in the akona pro regulator bag. it would fit in the akona globetrotter bag.DAVID G : Should fit.MICKEY C : A big no
TIM C : Does this bag have any pockets sturdy enough to carry weights?Cindy T : We haven't put weights in it, but the seams have plenty of fabric and solid stitchingSUSAN H : They are pretty sturdy but the pockets are on the small side. I carry the weights inside the bag. It is very sturdy overall.WENDY L H : I wouldn't carry weights in this bag. There are two small front pockets for carrying accessories, anti-fog, or your dive computer, but it isn't meant for carrying weights. If you are traveling for vacation, leave your weights behind. The dive shop will have plenty and you won't be stuck with paying extra baggage fees for the extra weight. Bonus tip: if traveling intl, put your reg bag on top because they will want to see what the solid metal on the x-ray is, especially in China. This will save you from having to dig it out of the bottom every time.DAN O : Yes, as mentioned the two exterior pockets are sturdy enough for 2 or 3 weights each. But I found out the hard way that when the Globetrotter is fully packed and the exterior pockets are filled, they have a hard time fitting into an overhead bin on a flight. I ripped one of my pockets trying to put my Globetrotter into one. The pocket had a brick AC adapter for my laptop.John V : Yes, the two outside pockets can handle weights.JOHNIE J : Yes however I carry my weights in a weight bag to keep from wearing the pockets out. I find the pockets are great for spare computer batteries and eye glass case.

Boom!

Are you a minimalist traveler? If so, this bag is the bomb! Why? All my gear AND a week of clothes/toiletries fit in this carry-on. The beauty of it? While everyone else is waiting for their checked bag, I'm through customs, in my rental car, and heading for the beach! (Mic drop)

First impressions

I own this bag & its reg bag for the bottom. I have packed it a few times. Im about to fly with it 1st time. I can tell you that for me, fitting everything was very tight, but I suspect it's all about how you pack your wetsuit that makes all the difference. My bc fit easily but it's XS aqualung Zuma, my wetsuit is a medium 5mm and I still have space for boots, a save a dive kit, mask with hard case, my waterpoof thigh bag which is full (smb, reel, bolt snaps, torches). All my gear CAN fit with strap-on fins outside. Fins too tall even if there was space. spare clothes MIGHT fit if I rolled them and my wetsuit together just right. I'm waiting on an answer from Q&A because this is 5" beyond FAA carry-on maximums. I'm worried you can't actually carry this into plane.

initial thoughts.

I have not traveled with it yet however I have done a pre trip packaging of it. One medium Zeagle Stilleto bcd, one medium mens 5mm full suit, a pair of boots, one mask in hard case, snorkle and regulator with spare air went in with hardly any room left over. Hopefully after packing a few times and getting the method down it won't be so tight. I barley had room to zip the top closed. More will come after I have traveled with it.

Great dive bag!

My husband and I each got a backpack for at recent trip. We use it for ALL our essential gear to get on/off the boat. We do not use these for actual travel. (We all know we bring extra gear, just in case). Awesome things: It?s very roomy inside. I have the Akona Laguna Reg bag w/ expanding mesh bag and that fits snugly inside along with my bcd, my 3mm or 5mm full wetsuit, a towel and small dry bag with a change of clothes. With room to spare for water bottle. (My reg bag holds my reg, mask, gloves, cap, flashlights, & safety sausage and reel.) I found hard plastic locking cases that fit perfectly into the front pockets and keeps stuff dry. I clip an S-Clip to the mesh handle on the front for sunglasses case or travel wallet w/ cert cards. Folds up nice and compact for storage. Things to improve: 1)Big deal!!! The fin straps could be a little bit longer and sew bigger stops at the ends so the buckles don?t fall right off. Yes, happened to both our bags. We had to order replacements; 2)A zipper pocket inside the back or on the lid; 3)Water bottle pocket on outside. It?s a great bag overall and we highly recommend it.

Great bag - needs more pockets

First run with this bag was a recent trip to the Caribbean. Definite pluses and minuses Positives - cavernous interior - fit a 5mm wet suit, Regulator set, computer, boots, and BCD fairly easily. - nice external pockets - one fits a large mask and is nicely pared to avoid scratching; the other one is perfect for other smaller items. - external straps held fins nicely. - easy to turn inside out for cleaning; fairly waterproof. Negatives / room for improvement: - needs more external pockets for other items. A knife holder or hidden pocket in the top would be nice. - straps are thin and the pack needs more structure on the back. Can be tough to carry more than short distances. - a hip belt would help to balance the weight better

Handy travel pack better with some mods.

It will hold a full set of gear but you bc would not fit with the Akona reg bag. Had you sent leisure pro bag instead. Mesh gear bag had to go separate. Would not use on boat. No drainage. Would rate higher than three but it badly needs a back style waist belt. After hauling it through two airports neck and back very stiff. Padded shoulder straps too. I would pay for these extras especially when flying through multiple airports. Otherwise it got the bill for what I wanted.

Good concept, but heavy to carry long distances

Well made backpack that fits an entire set of dive gear including 3mm full suit. It fits easily in the overhead, but I always had to remove my fins to get it in. It is a good bag, but I found once my dive gear was loaded I still needed an underseat bag for my personal items/camera, etc. The issue for me was carrying both the backpack and the underseat bag was HEAVY and uncomfortable. I found using a wheeled carry on for my scuba gear was better coupled with an underseat duffle with a handle sleeve that slides over the wheeled bag handle. Now I fly through the airport with ease:)

Great bag!!!

I took this to a live aboard dive cruise. I packed it full so it didn’t fit the carry on requirements but it was compact and held together well. My fins kept in place and material is high quality. Padding on the straps would be great!

Great bag

This bag works very well as either a travel bag or taking your gear to the boat. The only thing lacking is a dry bag space for items.

Great Product

I live in New York and needed a travel bag when, on special occasions, I travel to the south to go diving .Because I would only need this a couple of times a year I didn't want to spend $200+ dollars on a high end carry bag. This bag was perfect! It fit all my equipment - Reg,computer, full wet suit, boots, gloves, mask, snorkel, full size BC, repair kit, towel, fins etc, etc. It was easy to carry and I was able to take it as a 'Carry On' on the airplane. I guess the only improvement I would suggest would be to make the carry straps more padded. Buy it - you won't be disappointed Plus I highly recommend Leisure Pro - Had one minor issue with my many orders with them and they resolved it quickly!

Loving this BackPack

Very nice bag. Sturdy. Functional. Looks great. I expected it to be bigger. I purchased this bag as well as the Akona Collapsing Duffel Bag with Protective Regulator Bag. Glad I did. I am only able to get my bcd (XL) and a few small items (dive knife, mask) in this bag. Forget the wetsuit, boots, and any larger items. MIGHT be able to get a shorty wet suit and booties in there if you crammed it.

Better than a roller bag!

What a great way to travel with dive gear! Reg, BCD, mask, fins, snorkel and 3 mil wet suit all fit with a little extra room left. No more checking a big roller bag with gear. Fits in airplane overhead easily. Shoulder straps could use some extra padding for more comfort.
