Joe S : How do you install the qc?DANIEL C : All that has to be done is remove the regulator from the supply hose and install this between hose and regulator. It can only be installed one way on the hose so there is no way to mix it up. The larger female end with the locking ring goes on the hose and the smaller male goes onto the regulator. A couple of wrenches are all the tools needed, unless you have a special nut on your regulator (ie. ScubaPro)MARTYN K : Unscrew the old connector and add this in between the existing male and female fittings. Check for leaks. Done.
Shopper : Does this quick disconnect include a check valve to prevent gas loss when the second stage is disconnected?RICHARD B : Mine does. Disconnect and no air leaks. Use a full face mask and change over to regulator. Hard to put a different regulator on it when it is pressurized. Unless you have an octopus the only way to release pressure is to loosen the connection.Warren M : Yes it does...similar to the check valve on your inflator hose. This is an excellent component both in quality and ease of use....there are similar pieces available that are two or three times the cost but they do not perform any better. Once the male is connected to the female, the lock ring is screwed down preventing accidental dis-connect. I use mine on my BOV (bailout valve) mouthpiece on my rebreather...It makes cleaning and storage of my rebreather bailout system reg set much easier, and allows for easy cleaning/inspection/storage of the BOV without having a hose attached to it. Excellent product

This worked exactly as advertised. Now I can switch between a full face mask and a standard 2nd stage regulator without removing the hose from the 1st stage. The screw lock is a great safety feature to prevent unintended disconnection underwater.

Get these!

We dive with the quick connects on all our 2nd stage regs. Besides allowing you to switch out regs or pop them off for travel, if there's a reg that fails while out, the swap is fast and doesn't ruin a dive.

Purchased for FFM

I bought two of these for our OTS Stealth masks. Works great. I bought an extra male adaptor for our second stages so that we can swap out reg's depending on what set up we desire for the day.....mask and 2nd OR FFM. Works awesome.

An Excellent product

This second stage dis-connect is an excellent product for those wanting to be able to separate their second stage regulator or rebreather BOV from the LP reg hose. It adds no weight to the second stage, its 9/16" threads are perfectly machined, it has a built in check valve similar to an inflator hose and the female end is equipped with a threaded lock-ring that prevents unintended dis-connection Highly recommended and it's low cost will allow you to purchase one or more spares

I bought this for my Ocean Reef and it works great. Easy on and off. The screw down lock is easy to use and after hearing about non-locking Q/D's coming off just before or, on one occasion I have heard about, during a dive it makes me feel safer about having one.

Time saver and convenient

I am member of a rescue and recovery dive team. Frequently we are training with full face mask. Before using this product we would have to find the proper size wrench, remove the hoes from our first stage at the dive site, and attach the full face regulator. Time consuming and you run the risk of either cross threading the hore connection or getting debris in the first stage. This item needs no tools, has a locking collar that keeps accidental disconnections from happening and does not require the turning off of air supply to change regulators.

If you have different second stage regulators for different rig configurations and they are not always attached to your low-pressure hose, you might want to install a quick-disconnect (QD) fitting so you won't need to use a wrench. When you swap out second stage regulators and are changing them out with a wrench any repair technician can tell you if it is not done correctly you can de-tune your regulator and not even know it! The second stage regulators critical valve seat usually seals against the second stage Inlet fitting. This fitting can be accidentally turned if you do not first place the appropriate wrench on its wrench flats before turning the hose fitting with another wrench. Failure to use two wrenches when removing a hose can drastically change the valves opening effort, rendering the second stage useless for safe diving.

XS Scuba's Second Stage Hose QD can eliminate this problem. The complete QD is required for one set up, but if you have multiple second stages you will need one female coupling (included) connected to your hose and multiple male fittings (SKU: XSSSQDM) for each of your additional second stages, so you can plug them into your hose female coupling. This QD fitting allows attachment of another second stage regulator to a single hose. QD is manufactured from durable chrome plated brass for low maintenance and long life. Lock-down screw to prevent accidental disconnection. Coupling is factory cleaned, has Viton O-rings, and is designed for low pressure only below 200 psi (13.8 bars).
