The GPS is not accurate - it is out by 5 sec per mile. I have ran on defined mile sections of trail - many different ones to make sure it is not the mile markers that are wrong. I have recalibrated the watch GPS and still not luck

This is just what I want in a sport's watch. Even though I've only had it 2 weeks it is very easy to use. Very comfortable to wear. Easy to read face. Saw where some people had trouble with syncing to other apps. I have had none. Battery life is great!

Hello, Some time ago I was reviewing the Suunto 5. I was not happy with it. Now I have the Suunto 9 and I am pretty happy with it. the watch is bigger and therefor easier to read. Also the resolution is higher that helps for the readability. I now use only the 3 info display (for each sport mode) to have the biggest dig-gets available. There are 3 things in my opinion that could be improved; 1. have an light option also for the time display and not only for the sportmodus. As the display is in the dark difficult to read. 2. When I need to update my watch firmware I loose my sportmodus that I created they should be synced with my app/ account after the watch is connecting with the phone again. 3. When I delete a route on the phone/app and the watch is not connected with the app, or maybe it was, then when the watch and phone/app connects it should also delete the route from the watch as the route is also deleted from the phone/app. I had the situation that I deleted the route on my phone and the route was still on the watch. I could only remove it by a hard reset and then I needed do a new setup for my sportmodus. I was not happy with that. In general the watch is really good and performing well. Accurate GPS and fantastic battery live! Also the app is easy to use for planning routes for me.

Funtionality: intuitive and easy to use the touch screen and sports modes. GPS accuracy is excellent. Amazing battery life, I can train with it daily for a week without needing to recharge! Aesthetics has never been my reason for wanting a sports watch but in this case I was happily surprised by the difference the new design of strap makes - super flexible and comfortable. This is a real improvement for me because i have narrow wrists and many big sports watches don't fit well - they bounce around and bruise my wrist. The Suunto 9 with customised strap is way better. Plus is looks sleek and the customised engraving on the back of the watch reminds me every day how much I love running :-)

Great looking watch with big screen and simple to use. The wristband design is absolutely great! Fits really nicely on thin wrist, feels comfortable and doesn't move around. User interface is extremely simple and it is easy to get started. Data on the watch seems accurate, but the mobile App doesn't always update the data accurately and some of the data could be presented simpler way. Great battery life for all day activities such as long distance running/cycling and hiking. Overall excellent watch.

I’ve been using Suunto 9 for three months and I love it. First of all, it has a cool design one can personalize with several watch faces and by customizing the sports mode. Additionally, you can go even further by changing the strap. I’ve been using the lime strap but I’ll definitely buy additional ones later. Secondly, the battery lasts basically forever even though I’ve been using the watch quite actively. What’s even more important, no single scratch has appeared to the screen. Thirdly, the Suunto App has been surprisingly versatile and provides services that I haven’t really seen in other sport apps. Especially the route planning mode has helped me to discover new routes I didn’t even realize before. Furthermore, free trial encouraged me to activate other sports services by which I’ve taken the experience into the next level. I’ll most likely be trying the other free trials as well. The thing that got me thinking before buying Suunto 9 was the size of the watch while my wrist is quite slim. However, the watch feels good and stands out in a good way.

I agree with all the tag lines that Suunto claim about this watch. It is durable and the battery life is incredible and the new function that allows you to change the GPS accuracy / power usage is brilliant. The training planner seems pointless to me. It is very unlikely that a watch is going to make me go for a run if i don't want to. The sports functions, navigation and activity tracker are extremely similar, if not exactly the same as the Spartan. I am a big fan of the Spartan so this is not to much of an issue for me but I am expecting more new features from Suunto's next watch. The compatibility between the Suunto app and moves count is getting better with each update and I think is a brilliant system. All in all good watch.... but I still think the Ambit 3 peak is the best watch from Suunto.

Battery life is fantastic - took it away for a week hiking from place to place in Mallorca and didn't have to charge it once. The new watch strap design is great for smaller wrists as it makes the fit a lot more comfortable. As a multi sport athlete it has all the sport functionality I need. One of my favourite features is the ability to set pre-determined intervals before heading out on my run - meaning I no longer have to check my watch for the efforts and can just keep pushing hard until the watch buzzes to let me know I can now try to catch my breath before the buzz for the next effort.

I love this watch. I have used a few other watches from other companies and they dont touch this one. The battery life is outstanding and has a ton of features. I predominately use my for trail running and cycling.

Fit: The watch fits nicely on my wrist and the strap is very comfortable. The size of the watch isn't too big either. Durability: Watch is super durable. I've used it from 45C to -45C. I've scraped it across hard granite and plunged it through countless mud pits. It still looks new. The band is much sturdier than the Spartan series was. HR: the built-in HR sensor doesn't work very well. It often mis-reads, especially when running. HR belt is still necessary for accurate readings. It seems to work well when i'm not moving and I tighten it down very hard. Battery: The battery life is amazing. I used it for over 10 days, biking 4-8 hours per day and it lasted the whole time. The automatic adjustments that it offers on the fly is super handy. Features/usability: Once you learn the software, you can pretty much do whatever you want. It takes a while to figure everything out, but once you do, it is a powerful tool to have for training and navigating. Altitude: The "non-baro" version that I have seems to under read altitude anywhere from 5-30%, depending on how rolling the terrain is. My wife has the baro version, which does much better. If getting your altitude 100% accurate isn't a big deal for you, then this watch is definitely smaller and more comfortable than the baro version. Great watch! Best yet.

So I can fully customize my workout modes to choose up to five different data fields on each screen, set button lockout, backlight brightness and even change the background from dark to light so I can see the display better in different lighting... but have have to choose between nine preset watch faces that’s offer zero customization. This is stupid. Just add a customizable watch face exactly like the workout screen customization and the watch would be amazing. Let me choose light or dark background. Let me choose what data fields I want to see and where I want them on the watch face.

Things I like about the Suunto 9 Lime: 1. I never have to wait for signal or GPS sync. Other products I tried would have me pacing back and forth waiting to get started. The Suunto 9 is always ready to go before I am. 2. It doubles as a casual/fashion watch. My other products just weren't comfortable enough for all day, casual wear. The Suunto 9 Lime feels great, the rubbery (lack of better term) strap is gentle on my arm hair, and I often forget it's there. 3. Battery life. I pulled a 36 mile run, tracking through 7 hours of exercise and breaks. It made only a dent in the battery like. My other products would have been drained or ready to fail on me by then. There was plenty left in the tank. The 9 Lime was only warming up. I have gone through several hour+ long exercises, back to back without an issue. I often perform 3-4 training days on the same charge before I'll fully recharge the battery overnight, just to be on the safe side. 4. I have crack the screen off metal objects, dropped the watch a hundred times, and it is still practically mint. I am very hard on my gear, and I cringe each time I beat this thing up, expecting to see gouges and grooves. The Suunto 9 Lime is tougher than my tough phone. The screen, I hesitate to say, would take a bullet for me. The strap, I had thought it might warp with overuse, or tarnish from my constant use, but it remains just about as good as the day I unboxed it. If it appears dirty, I just rinse it, scrub, and rinse again. No biggy. Things I don't like about the Suunto 9 Lime: Not to sound like a dweeb, but there is only one thing I have to say in this section. 1. It is Europe exclusive? You have no idea how long it took me to track down this product (the color specific). I just think the bright yellowish color looked the best, and if I was going to drop the money it is listed for, I certainly wasn't going to settle for second preference. I live in the United States, but was ordering online out-of-country. Couldn't find the Lime on any "American" online retailer, or contact a store who had it in stock. I logged into the most widely used online retailer, a household name (you know it), although through UK's version and there it was. That is my only gripe. First world problems, you know? Here, I would make a recommendation for who I would suggest this watch to. But honestly, I am going to urge anyone to at least look into the Suunto 9 (my experience is with the Lime edition).

I have been using the Suunto 9 Baro extensively for about 2 months now, and I can say I am fully satisfied with it. My use (bike commuting, football, and weight training) probably doesn't require the full capabilities of the Suunto 9. I am not an Ultra Runner, so I rarely if at all need the unbelievably long-lasting battery of the watch. However, it's other things that I like. - The solid construction, with a nice glass and a steel, uncoated bezel that allows me to wear it without any worry in the gym - hits and scratches on plates and machines are a regular occurrence, and the display glass is still in pristine conditions. - The comfortable strap and general design - The accuracy of the GPS, even without a lot of warm-up, and of the accelerometer (particularly useful to track football indoors) - The accuracy of the Wrist HR monitor in daily use and while running and cycling. In the gym it's a bit of a hit and miss, but this is rather normal considering the stress and tension the forearm muscles when lifting weights. But I do wear a Smart Sensor chest strap for those activities, and HR is tracked reliably. Some points of warning and improvement options: - People that need accurate live elevation (cumulated ascent and descent) information might want to go for the BARO version. I don't personally need it, but Trail Runners or mountain bikers definitely should consider it. GPS elevation is just not as accurate for that. - The current situation with the double platform and app (Movescount, SuuntoApp) would need clarification. SuuntoApp is growing nicely, though - we just got Strava support, and the overall app experience is definitely an improvement over the Movescount app.

I'm super happy with my new Suunto 9. I was reluctant to upgrade from my well-used Ambit as it has served me so well, but the features of the Suunto 9 have more than met the high standards set by the Ambit. The battery life is amazing, tracking is accurate, the watch looks great (IMO much more suitable for everyday use than the Ambit) and the touchscreen is clear and easy to use. It's become an essential all day, every day companion!

Built to last - just like you
When you have your mind set on a certain goal or adventure, you want to make sure your watch can also go the distance. With up to 120 hours of continous exercise tracking Sunnto 9 is built to last - just like you!
What's the difference between Sunnto 9 Baro and Sunnto 9
The Sunnto 9 with a barometer gives you more accurate altitude information because it combines GPS data with barometric altitude information (Fused Alti). Based on data from the barometer, it also provides outdoor information like sea level air pressure and has a storm alarm. The other Sunnto 9 models still deliver altitude information, but they are based on GPS readings.
Benefits
Sunnto Fusedtrack for more Accurate Track and Distance
On long ultra runs, battery life is often the limiting factor for recording distance and track accurately, as GPS is a heavy drain on the battery. Suunto's unique FusedTrack algorithm combines GPS and motion sensor data to improve track and distance accuracy. This allows you to extend battery life by lowering GPS power without significantly compromising accuracy.
Thousands of Hours Testing in the Toughest Conditions
Suunto 9 is designed and built to meet the demands of professional athletes. Tested to the extreme with thousands of hours of real use in the toughest conditions by Suunto's internal testing team and athletes all over the world, it is your trusted companion to confidently see you through any adventure!
Never Worry about Running Out of Battery
Three predefined battery modes - Performance, Endurance and Ultra - deliver from 25 hours to up to 120 hours of recording time with GPS tracking on. When you start a recording, you'll get an estimate of how much battery you have left with the current mode. If it's not enough, switch to another mode at any time.
Suunto 9 uses smart reminders based on your activity history, to help ensure you are fully charged for your next outing. If the watch notices you are running low on battery during an exercise, it will automatically suggest changing to a different battery mode.
