I do underwater photography in the Caribbean with a Canon 6D, Ikelite housing, dual 161 strobes. I purchased this dome for my new 28mm and a new 40mm. The dome is perfect for both applications. What I love about the plastic dome is that if it gets scratched in the camera tank or on deck, once it's in the water, the scratches are gone, not visible at all! I can't think of a single negative thing so I guess thats it.

Just switching from film to digital. This port is easy to seal and can be used with confidence. No distortion or loss of light.I am thrilled with this port and in the New England area where vizability is at most times only two or three green feet the port is excellent. Easy to clean and maintain but remember it is plastic and can be scratched.

Very functional with Ikelite SLR housing and DS strobes. Excellent optices with 24mm lens. Prefer it to 8" dome. Only negative is ease of scratching dome's plastic lens.

Wide angle photography allows you to get close to your subject without losing part of the subject. This makes it great for photographing wrecks, large animals and people. This Ikelite Dome Port is recommended for wide angle lenses from 17mm to 28mm, and short zoom lenses. Zoom lenses require a +4 Diopter close-up lens available from camera stores. Wide angle lenses will focus at 12" (30.5cm) and do not require the addition of any close-up lens when used in a dome port.
The Ikelite acrylic dome is injection molded specifically for underwater photography, and represents the finest optics in the industry. Port is equipped with an external dome shade impact ring for proper lighting and protection of the port element. Port is 3.1" (7.85cm) in length and is designed for lenses that are 3" (7.6cm) in length. The SLR Dome Port is depth rated to 200' (60 meters), comes with an instruction guide and is covered by a 12 month limited warranty.
DIMENSION NOTES:
Maximum lens diameter is limited to 3.3" (8.4cm). The diameter for attachment of zoom or focus clamps is limited to 2.8" (7.1cm). Lens length is measured as the maximum extended length from attachment point on the camera body. Only lenses with rotating barrel control for zoom can be used. Push-pull zoom control cannot be operated.
