It has added piece of mind when I’m out on the water. I will say that it’s not as loud as I remember my 6th grade teacher’s Fox 40 being. Maybe I should practice with it a bit. Like most emergency gear, I’m hoping I’ll never have to use so the decibel level won’t matter.

Plug your ears before you whistle. These are LOUD! Which is what they're supposed to be. Every boater should have one on every PFD he or she owns. There is no excuse not to spend a few bucks for a simple piece of safety equipment. Whistles are like throw bags. If you don't have one you could be endangering my welfare, and that annoys me. I ran sweep on commercial trips for 11 years and I don't believe in skimping on safety equipment. I even bought extras I keep in my trucks.

I use this when kayaking. It is attached to my Chinook vest. Haven't had to use it and I hope I don't! It is very loud and echoes across the lake and through the forest.

I like the extra keyring you get, can just attach to my PFD shoulder strap with the larger keyring instead of messing with small cord to tie/secure. Nice touch Fox40!

I wear this whistle on a lanyard around my neck when paddling. I have another whistle on my inflatable life vest. I can show the park ranger or boat patrol the whistle on the lanyard without unpacking the inflatable life vest, and it is available for use without deploying the vest. I recommend one whistle on the vest, and one that I you can use without deploying the vest. NOTE: I use the lanyard around the neck for flat water paddling.

i bought this to put on my swift water rescue vest. it is a little bulky but does work very well even when wet. i do not store it on the outside of the vest but have it on a lanyard and placed in a pocket to prevent tangles in debris.

A compact, loud whistle. Sometimes the high tone is hard to hear for those with hearing problems in noisy environments. Years of ear damage from Sirens, Helicopters and Shooting interfear with hearing high tones. Tough to pull out in noisy environments, such as white water, but much better than yelling. I recommend it.

Smaller than other designs. I don't like a bulky whistle flopping in my face when attached to a PFD. Also I use these for survival whistle in a back pack and on my daughter's key rings for security.

A great necessity to have, works when wet, loud and effective. Never used in an actual emergency, and hope not to. But confident it would be affective in loud white water for help or signaling.

My two sons are professional raft guides and this is the emergency whistle they recommended. Hopefully I will never have to use it but it's on my vest, accessible and visible.
