I own a previous version ( 3 years old)of this bag which was recently damaged. Upon contacting Akona I was surprised and disappointed that they would not repair it. To replace it I an purchasing the Scubapro travel bag because they offer a lifetime warrany.

I have gone through two of these bags, both of which failed due to material damage while being handled within the air system. On my first bag, the seam at the top separated, which apparently happened with another commenter after two dive trips. Akona accepted the bag for return and sent a new one no question. However, my replacement bag also went on two trips and returned with the top plastic broken and the seam tearing. I love Akona bags, but this one doesn’t take the brunt of traveling well.

Bought the bag and used it exactly once. The bag started separating at the seam where the carrying handle is and we noticed when we reached our trip destination. By the time we had returned, the separation went all the way across the top of the bag and we were lucky not to have lost anything .

A bag that finally has pockets big enough for fins

This bag looks nice and has space for one divers equipment. This bag had to be replaced with a new bag because the fabric tore away from the seams after only one trip. This quality of construction is not what I have experienced with my previous Akona bag that lasted for years of heavy use. Also, the side pockets are not equal in size. I like to place my fins in the outside pockets to help prevent crushing of the other contents. One pocket is bigger than the othre and my full size fins don't fit in the smaller pocket. Not a good design choice!

Not at all satisfied. It's top heavy and does not stand up like our old ones. You have to prop it up against something so it does not fall over. The zippers became unzipped in transit and we lost some gear. We would have shipped them back but they got marks on them from Delta. Horrible bags.

I have used this bag on only two trips. By the time I got to the second destination, I noticed that the fabric had torn away from the bottom of the bag, below where the cloth handle is sewn onto the bag. I am using extra-strength tape to see if that will help. The bag itself has good capacity for gear.

I’ve taken several trips now with this bag and have no complaints. Light weight and seems pretty durable. The purchase experience with LP was outstanding. I had ordered another version of this that was discontinued. But LP quickly contacted me and offered the brand new model for the same price. Customer service does not get better than that.

I purchased 2 of these bags for my sons. They were able to fit a complete set of dive gear including 5mm full wet suit AND all additional clothing for a 7 day tropical trip - a lot of room to spare. Total bag weight after packing everything was 34 lbs (we carry on our regulators and computers). I previously owned 2 Aqua Lung Traveler 850 Roller Duffle Bags, which lasted two trips before the internal plastic frame disintegrated (common issue with these bags). The Akona bags seem to have a much better design, lighter weight and more rugged. There are 2 internal tie-down straps which are helpful to keep things from rattling around if the packed bag isn't full. There are also 2 larger external straps, which can be cinched down to reduce pressure on the zippers with a fully packed bag. One thing to note: the side fin pockets are just wide enough to put a Mares Extreme fin inside. Might be a squeeze to fit a wider ScubaPro Twin Jet fin inside.

Bought this dive bag for an international dive trip. Very roomy although compact. Rolls well. The straps are well positioned and not prohibitive.

Now stronger, tougher with a change in shape providing 13% increase in capacity and still lightweight, Akona revamped, redesigned and refined Akona's family of ultimate lightweight travel bags. Cutting-edge graphics are edgy and appealing to modern divers. New right-side fin pocket holds XL pair of fins, and stiffeners in the pipping help keep the bag open; making packing simple and easy.
Akona packed and tested the Less Than 10 lbs. Roller with an XL 7mm full wetsuit, hooded neoprene vest, large BC, regulator, octopus, gauges, large pair of fins, mask, snorkel, dive boots, dive gloves, beach towel, rash guard, pair of shorts and 2 tee-shirts. Result: Total weight beat most airline restrictions. This bag is easy to pack, easy to handle and easy to check. When you combine the Less Than 7 lbs. Carry-On (see SKU's: AKNB287) you'll be lightweight and carefree all the way to your dive destination.
This super lightweight roller bag at a mere 9 lbs. 8 oz. (4.3kg), is easily packed with a full set of gear with room left over for a towel and change of clothes. Sleek, low-profile design holds a full set of gear and then some. The wide stance and low height give this roller bag exceptional stability and balance. Made from durable, yet lightweight 420D Dobby nylon material for stain and mildew resistance. The Dobby weave gives the fabric texture and helps reduce abrasions and tears. A lightweight pull handle extends and locks at 12" (30.5cm) but is easy to slide and hide with its convenient lock-release button.
Moving about a busy airport terminal or boat docks is made easy with the super-glide wheels that roll smooth and quiet. The reinforced wheel-wells provide added protection when bumping over curbs, steps and obstacles. Don't worry about what's in the bag the interior and exterior compression straps reduce shifting of packed items. Delrin zippers are made of a polymer that provides 100% corrosion resistance to salt water and atmospheric elements and features a UV-resistant double-braided carrier cord. Bag measures 30" x 18" x 10" (76cm x 45.7cm x 25.4cm) and has 5,400 cubic inches (88.5 liters) of volume.
