The octopus is renown the world over for its intelligence, stealth, and power, but it’s not the only fascinating creature in its class. More than 800 species are in existence within the Cephalopoda class, including squid, cuttlefish, octopus, and nautilus families. Each of these families represents a faction of highly intelligent cephalopods.

Cuttlefish and octopus have the highest brain-to-body mass ratio of all invertebrates, lending to their heightened intelligence. Studies have shown these creatures to have problem solving capabilities, dexterity, calculated predation techniques, complex communication, and the ability to use tools. It is thought that their need to hunt prey, unusual among mollusks, is what led to the development of their advanced intelligence.
